I let my dog, Toby, splurge on a shopping spree when we were last in the area, and he picked out his favorite toy of all time, what I have christened his "Scare Bear" ™ Toby, a black lab, great pyrenees, terrier, hound mix was seen all around Fall Fest this year, with Scare Bear in his mouth. He brought it home to Chicago with us, and he sleeps with it, goes on walks with it, and sits it next to him on the chair or the couch. Toby is almost six years old, and this is his first ever toy that he hasn't even attempted to destroy in some way. It's a true comfort item, and he picked it out himself! Toby does some volunteer search and rescue work, and loves to help people and animals in between roughhousing with Mommy and other dogs and running around like a crazy man. He used his Scare Bear to comfort an older gentleman who was having a hard time walking at Peninsula State Park, and he even offered the guy Scare Bear for comfort as he walked the man back to the parking lot. So he asked a customer nearby if he could be his dad for the day and buy it for him. My grandson would pay. The night manager of the Marinette store said this was "harassing her customers" so she would not have a sales transaction where he was involved. I happened to be shopping in a different store in the same mall that night. We accidently bumped into each other so he told me she would not sell to him because he was only 17. I then went into the store to see if she would sell the fish to me. She refused because I was with him. I have never met this women and have never shopped in Petco before so I was surprised at her insistence that she would not conduct a transaction with me either. When I asked what did he do that was harassing others, she told me that he asked a customer if he could be his dad for the night. Obviously, it was in jest. My grandson is a clean cut, very well known athlete in the area and just wanted to buy a fish for his tank. In my 40 years of managing customer service departments at large companies, I have never heard of someone turning away new customers because they didn't like who he was with. That was a very poor business decision. I will not shop there again. Nor will the people I know.
