They have a whole local program that cranks out the jams. There's no real commercials on this station, just public service announcements, and underwriting announcements. The DJs are fun, and not some corporate dudes in a booth, or some AI generated voice that pipes in endless chatter. Instead, you can get a finger on the pulse of the live music scene around, and they focus on bands who are coming through and playing at venues you can visit around town. The music is much more than just some top 40 hits station, or some corporate run Belo or Clear Channel Communications stationit has the local heart and soul of the city of Dallas. If you don't like the music, give it an hour or two, and they'll have something else on later.

Still, I occasionally tuned in - at that time Kellie Rasberry was out on extended maternity leave. Her daughter is now 7 & the great Dave Cradick aka Kidd Kraddick has sadly died. The last few years I've listened 5 days a week to the current lineup of Kellie, J-Si (Jose Chavez), Jenna Owens, the inimitable Big Al Mack & world's best board op Shanon Murphy. They have carried on since Kidd's been gone. AND they continue to do an entertaining show. Content is built around show biz news & family friendly phoners w/major stars. Lots of games for fans too. Their charity work with Kidd's Kids is exemplary. I am a former radio professional & entertainer. My radio listening started in the world's largest market, NYC. I know good radio. First, much thanks to Ms. Teresa Tarpley and her team on the Straight Up radio show. Her show discusses current issues and events in the community. She has a strong heart for assisting others through advocacy, education and service. She approached the agency I work at to do an hour long segment on an upcoming job fair for folks with criminal backgrounds, and it was a great experience. Her team was incredibly top notch, and her show is engaging. Also, I must thank the director, Ms. Sammie as well. She was helpful, kind, and though she was busy, she took some time to speak with us and offer assistance. Located in Arlington near Six Flags, it has great views and plenty of parking. Thanks again!
