Built in the middle of the 19th century, this underground reservoir once supplied the entire city with drinking water. Once abandoned, the space is now an exhibition space. 2) Art: My friend and I went when Tomás Saraceno did his "Event Horizon" exhibit. Rowing a little boat through the exhibit, you're asked to remain silent and be present as you go through the water. You'll pass art that creates light and sound adding to the space's darkness. It's so unique! 3) Location: It's right next to the Frederiksberg Palace, a yellow 1735 palace with gardens that are popular with walkers and runners. Take time before or after the Cisternerne to explore the area. If you go, note that rowing is at your own pace. They recommend 40 minutes, but once you reach the end, you're done! My friend and I felt like we were rowing slowly, but it only took us 20 minutes. We felt like we didn't get the full experience. We wished we had stopped at more spots to sit and enjoy the exhibit.

We went in with a level of excitement but as soon as we made it underground, and away from the light of the entrance, the mood changed and we were completely immersed within another time and dimension. While the architecture and history alone make the space worth visiting, the current exhibit pulls out from within you, emotions and awareness you may not have ever harnessed. It is truly, truly, something you must see! I had researched the Cisternerne for quite some time prior to our trip, and it lined up perfectly with our morning at the zoo, as it was right across the street. The park above the exhibit is absolutely beautiful, and lends no insight to what lies below it.

We were here to watch the "most important game of the year" (so my Swedish friends said) - a Champions League third qualifier round between local club Malmö FF and FC Salzburg. I was actually expecting streaming of rowdy people with football gear singing endlessly like the usual fare, but hey - this is Sweden after all. No rowdy people, people got in line patiently to get into the stadium and no singing at all (at least not until we got inside) - but there were indeed local supporters wearing the sky blue shirt of the local team Malmö FF. Once I got inside, I was surprised at how many people were there (also when we got outside as well, there was this never ending stream of people coming out of the stadium that I didn't even know they were that many). Since it was an UEFA game, no alcohol sale was allowed so people were relatively mild with their behaviour (or were they just being Swedish?) apart from the usual shouts and singing :) All in all, I had great experience here and would love to go back to watch some more football in here. The only downside was it was located just outside of the city with only one (?) line of bus serving this area? It was horrible when we got out after the match and we had to cut through Pildammsparken and walk all the way back to the "city" to get transport back somewhere. Better public transport access please (especially during big game like this!) and you'll earn my five star ;)

So my experience was a little less enjoyable sauntering, and more Pacman-style weaving to get where I wanted to go. I can see there is beauty here, and I imagine that I would enjoy it more during a less busy time.

The Botanical Gardens are connected/right next to the geological museum…read more The main highlight is that they are open fairly early in the morning and are free. That and the fact that botanical gardens are just gosh-dang beautiful. The park closes a little early in the evening, so I didn't have much time to explore before needing to clear out unfortunately. There is a part of the garden featuring hops and beer-helping plants. Loads of paths, lots of greenery...you can't go wrong. In the center of the park is the Palm House, which is spectacular to look at from the outside. It costs extra to go in, and I was at the end of my budget so I didn't get to go inside to see the exotic and tropical plants. If you like walking around in nature and looking at pretty things, you should come to the Botanisk Have. Also then you are close to the national art and geology museums...three birds (attractions) and one transit stop! Worth a stroll through!

Issue was we got seated next to a huge party of 10 who didn't even try to converse with us. We were looking forward to speaking with locals and feel like a community but instead we were interrupting a party by sitting at their table. Food was vegetarian based that night so it was a big salad and rice with rolls. Not bad but for people with kids this option was not enough food. Dessert was not included which isn't a problem. Great concept and fresh food but it wasn't as enjoyable as I thought it would be. I'll give it a try again though!
