In my experience, Knoxville Orthodontics lacks integrity. In 2021, I decided to get adult braces…read morefor the second time. My dentist said my teeth didn't need braces and suggested Invisalign for the gaps that had formed, but I needed my top teeth shifted back. I was biting my lip, and I felt like my speech was impacted. So, at 40 years old, I decided to get braces again. I went to a consultation and was given an estimate for around $6,000. Mind you, my teeth were straight. My own dentist office said I didn't need braces. But, I thought this is a professional place and while it's expensive, especially for what I needed, I trusted what Knoxville Orthodontics told me I needed. They were close to my house, and their building was nice. They seemed legit. I spent almost 2 years in braces. I spent about $4000 out of pocket. I noticed that my teeth didn't hurt after "tightenings." I came to realize that I obviously didn't need braces for that long, but I was told I needed them that long so they could get $6000 out of me. I also paid extra for clear braces and wires. Towards the end of my treatment, I was no longer getting clear wires. Once I paid my braces off, they came off around June of 2024. I realized my top teeth had not been pushed back. My gaps were barely closed up. They told me I'd need to go to the dentist to get fillings or whatever to fix that. Long story short, shop around. I feel very taken advantage of. I have adhd and autism and I was going through some really hard stuff so it took me some time to process this and write my review.

He spent the time explaining all the different options he felt were best for me - He really helped me find what the right treatment for what my vision was. After my daughter's appointment a treatment plan was supposed to be submitted to the insurance to get an approval for coverage. After waiting for a reply since July 13th I received a notice that the coverage was denied due to the procedure not being medically necessary. I called to file an appeal and in the process the insurance company informed me that they had not received the full treatment plan and they only received an authorization for braces. The insurance company told me to call the orthodontist office and ask them to submit the treatment plan again and to make sure it includes the WHOLE treatment plan not just the braces. I contact the orthodontist office and tell them what the insurance asked me to do and the lady who answered the phone was extremely rude right off the bat. She told me she looked at what was sent and it did include the whole treatment plan. I told her I understand but maybe there was a mix up because the insurance company is telling me they have only received an order for braces and nothing else so can she please send it again so it can be approved. She told me if I was denied once I'd be denied again and there was nothing I could do. I asked if I could make another appointment so we could see the orthodontist again and at least get the two teeth that needed to be pulled out because they are causing my daughter pain when she eats and the dentist won't pull them saying it has to be done by the orthodontist. The office lady then tells me she can make an appointment 1 year from the first initial visit. 1 year!! So to clarify I asked if she was supposed to just live with theses holes in her teeth until next year before anything could be done and she said yes! I was not offered for her to send in the authorization again, I was not offered any other help than a year after, and also was not informed of any out of pocket payment options. Before the end of the call I let her know that I really didn't appreciate her being so rude with me for no reason and that I was just doing what the insurance company told me to do and she proceeded to hang up on me. That's the kind of help you receive when trying to get dental help for your child at this establishment.
