I ended up here because of the Michelin guide. It was open on a Monday at 5 pm, so I suggested an…read moreedit on Yelp. Call before you go just in case they change their hours. It was very chill and laid back, but a well put together atmosphere all the same. The staff was attentive, the food elevated traditional German cuisine, and reasonable prices (as compared to LA). The asparagus soup was exceptional. The flavors were both lite and decadent. I would come back for that soup, for sure. I also had the schnitzel (chicken) with the potatoes with green onions and bacon, as well as the cucumber dill salad. Both of these were excellent accompaniment to the schnitzel. The potatoes were not hot when they arrived, I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. The cucumber salad partnered well with the fried schnitzel, balancing the heaviness. The berry compote that sat on the table, provided a slightly sweet and sour edge to the breaded chicken. I tried the pepper corn sauce also. I usually do not enjoy sweet with my savory, but the berry compote was just tart enough to be worth the risk.

The restaurant is in, let's say, an exotic part of town, but certainly not scary or unsafe. The dining area is upstairs (no elevator). Very clean and open decor, well lit. It gave the impression that we left Hamburg and entered Austria. Would definitely go again if i'm in the neighborhood.

This restaurant is more homey and feels a bit out of place on the street, but it's a great option in the area. The food was really great and moderately priced. The dumplings are Austrian style so they are like giant bread dumpling things that I'm not used to but it was good. I had the green garlic and cheese ones with the salad on the side which was great. The goulash which I tried a bit of was tasty as well. The service was really friendly and there was no English menu so the server was helpful. Highly recommend.

This place is a lovely little gem. I came in around 8 on a Thursday night and took one of the last seats in the house. The atmosphere was great--lights low, wood fresh, good music (Jimi Hendrix, among others). It was easy for me to focus on the book I was reading, which was really nice. I couldn't make up my mind, so I picked the Knoedeltricolore and a glass of zweigelt. The zweigelt was the best wine I've had so far in Germany--smooth, slightly jammy. When the knoedel arrived a bit later, I had to take a picture because the three colors looked so pretty. For the three colors, you get a beet, spinach, and cheese dumpling. I believe all of them had ricotta inside--don't quote me. All of them were good, but I may have preferred the beet to the others. I ate my meal about as slow as I could, really trying to savor each bite. The salad that came with the dumplings was much better than your usual side salad with nice, fresh lettuce. I would go back here again in a second!
