There is the obligatory Triple Play Thursdays but I love their My Turn feature on Sundays. Their music is good with less of the softer stuff and more hard and eclectic stuff. Hey, I'm diverse! I heard Ac/DC and Jesus Jones (right here right now) the other day and it made my day! The guy who says 'the Sound' is mellow. Their commercials don't have that schlocky feel to them that KLOS has (sorry). They seem honest and mature. When a song I don't like from another station comes on, I always go to The Sound and I find their commercials (or non music stuff) more interesting and cool sounding than other stations music. Now that is saying something! Their dj's are mellow and knowledgeable about tidbits of music I didn't know and I love that. There is a guy who does commercials who has a sexy ass voice but no clue if he's a dj or not. Great station all around. PS- I forgot one more thing - they play the LONG versions of songs, like then entire intros. I love this.

Then I discovered Poorman's Morning Rush and that was it. It's my main station (as long as I am in range - and when I'm not, I'll stream it!). But you get it all, great public affairs shows, educational shows, great music, great on-air talent. We LOVE our KOCI!

Well, a few of the songs they play fall under that category, but many of them can be heard nowhere else, and I guarantee that if you tune in, you'll be hearing some songs for the first time. They claim to have a 10,000 song playlist, and I believe it. Ever hear Blues Project before? Until KOCI, I hadn't. Speaking of blues, they include that in their broad definition of classic rock. They divided up the event into two nights. People who bought tickets for the first night paid more and had less artists perform. The artists hardly played any songs and they had better artists on the second night. The tickets didn't even sell out the second night and they went on sale because they couldn't see them. Never attending another Calibash. Thankfully, 93.9 Cali exists. Much better radio station.
