Located on an island in Rheinau, Klosterkirche has been a staple of this community since the year 778. Yes, the year seven hundred. It's awe-inspiring to take that in, being from The States where everything is only 200 years old.
This massivce kirche is surrounded by a serene moat with swans, as well as gigantic evergreen trees. In the courtyard, one of the trees towers over the building, make any human standing nearby look like a dwarf. I only imagine this tree is from the year 778 as well.
Inside, the kirche is decorated with elaborate architecture featuring the Stations of the Cross. Gold accents highlight each fixture, and the alter is shielded by a block, gothic gate.
Regardless of religious affiliation, Klosterkirche Rheinau will take your breath away.
