While I was in St. Croix a couple months ago, I was on the hunt for some good, hard-to-find Rum and I heard Kmart was a good place to start with. I walked in, found their duty-free liquor and began my search. I found the bottle that I wanted and it was cheaper than the one/two other places on the island that carried it. It was pretty simple. Good ambience, lovely waitress Sydney. The menu...#1 the kitchen was out of a number of items (who is doing the ordering?) #2 the menu I feel was misleading...as you can see says "sautéed lamb" when in actuality it is typical mixed gyro meat, no Kalamata olives etc etc. The gyro was average, nothing special and certainly not what I was personally expecting. read more

Stateside shoppers should remember that you are on an island which has suffered hurricane damage. Supply chain management is perilous at best under ideal circumstances. Given those caveats, I have found shopping in this store a positive experience. Staff are approachable and helpful. Selection is not what it is in mainland stores, and prices will be higher than you may be used to because it is an island. Seasonal merchandise is discounted out of season to make room for new inventory. In my experience the lines have been short and more checkout lines are open. Convenient location and hours of operation. Lots of free parking. read more

Unfortunately, this is the only major department store on island. With that comes overpriced items, bad customer service, and limited selections. Their return policies do not match those of the Kmarts in the states. When making a purchase - if you believe you may need to return them - use your credit cards. This way you can dispute the transaction if they refuse to take your items back. Make sure you calculate discounts on your own because they are known for posting sales and charging you more than the sale should allow. Expect long lines and few open lanes. The a/c doesn't work well in the store so you may find yourself uncomfortably warm when waiting in the long lines to check out. read more
