Updated review since my last one was three years old.I know the Coachella Valley is TV market number 147 out of 200,but the constant commercials and ads for Agua Caliente casino make this channel unwatchable. The national news is a half hour slot, but more than half of that time is repetitious commercials.(for nothing I could possibly be interested in) Best program: the Rogan report at 6:30. read more

NBC Palm Springs consistently drops the ball when it comes to reporting the news. Constant mistakes and mindless stories about a whole lot of nothing. NBC Palm Springs news is mind-numbingly dull, amateurish and repetative. Their local coverage is embarrassing at best. The reporting is mostly just regurgitated items from Facebook or the Desert Sun. You can tell the hosts are embarrassed about a lot of the "news" they have to present. Nearly all of it has no depth. This, combined with the constant product placement and kowtowing to advertisers makes these broadcasts painful to watch. It's no surprise that the stock price of their parent comany is in the tank. Also, this station's over-the-top coverage of the local minor league hockey team is annoying. Guys, it's minor league hockey...nobody cares. On top of all this, they've now replaced their 630 news with some Sean Hannity wannabe which is just weird and a complete waste of air-time. Bottom line, this outdated, uninteresting form of news is now obselete. You'll learn more by watching Sponge Bob with the kids. read more

I've been in the Valley for 31 years and have been a loyal viewer of KMIR news. I watch my news between 5am and 6am. Since KMIR does not have a news broadcast during these ties, I have switched to the local ABC station, where I can find out what's happening. I don't change the station back to KMIR and now watch Good Morning America instead of Today. Too bad. read more

I really like Jerry Steffen... but the canned evening weather reports are terrible and usually not up to date. Since Mike Evertt left the weather report don't show any national maps no high altitude western maps... no long term predictions... the whole report is pre-recorded and fed to us. This is wrong. So I switch to KESQ for the weather and I'm finding they also have better local news coverage. Poor KMIR only has two field reporters and they mostly present in the studio... seems like the news is taking a back seat to the Gino show. read more

KMIR and KESQ: I just love Mike's weather forecasting (5-stars). He explains what, why, when and where. Mike, don't ever leave because I can't watch Haley and Taban on KESQ with all of their acting, dramatics and flailing arms. On the other hand, I ONLY watch Mike's forecasting and then turn to KESQ to watch their news show (5-stars). I just can't stomach Gino with his sour attitude nor Sarah's cocked head tilt--she reminds me of femme fatale, Veronica Lake! It's only when Sara's hair is not on her face, that she has her head straight! So many personnel have left KMIR within the last 13 years, one may wonder what is their problem? read more

Decided tonight not to watch this news station any longer. Lead anchor doesn't know the difference between Desert Hot Springs and Desert Edge. Probably doesn't even know where Sky Valley is either. Coverage isn't accurate on a local tragedy in Desert Edge. It's like they just don't care. Will find better more accurate source for local news and information. read more

I've been watching KMIR for over 20 years...on 6/21/19 all the local stations including KMIR had to change frequencies to make room for 5G communications...after the change all my stations came back except KMIR, ME-TV and Movies ( all NBC Affiliates) so I called KMIR...Sergio the chief engineer personally returned my call and gave me instructions on how to get these stations back through my antenna... I cant afford cable so I'm happy to receive these stations free with my antenna. Thank you Sergio for taking the time in your busy schedule to help me....just 1 of thousands of viewers...much appreciated. read more

I am a full time local and enjoy KMIR News. I look forward to it in the evening and enjoy the comradery of the anchors. Having said that, what happened to Janet Zappalla?? She always looked very nice, very professional and the perfect counterpart to Gino, and "age appropriate." I notice she is doing some small pieces once in a while. I also notice the new associate anchor to Gino is very young. I will be very disappointed in KMIR if I find out Janet was "moved" to another position in favor of a younger anchor! So today at about 2:30 pm I was driving to a doctors office near the Eisenhower Medical Ctr, street in front of the P bldg and saw a KMIR vehicle, which you can't miss because of stickers all over there vehicles, and it was going about 25-30 MPH, male driver heading west. Then as I started to make a turn, another KMIR vehicle sped through going about the same speed. If you aren't seeing a doctor then why do you drivers use this area as a thorough fair? This area is clearly marked for medical patients. This isn't the first time. Your drivers need to use Bob Hope or Monterey. Signs here are clearly marked 15 MPH. Do you think you are above the law? She did because she gave me a look of entitlement when I had to slam on my breaks. She actually thought it was funny. Well I have a message for her. It's not funny. I'm in bad pain and disabled as are a lot of people driving through here. It's a tight area and we are all trying to find certain buildings for our appointments. If you are going to use these roads illegally to "cut through" then you need to obey the signs and be considerate of those who are driving here for valid reasons, in order to "make Coachella valley a better place," as you put it. read more
