So far we have not had a good experience at all. My father started going here about a year ago after experiencing symptoms of dementia. The neurologist, discouraged, doing test testing to confirm whether it was Alzheimer's or dementia. We then ended up enrolling my father in a medical research program that provided him a formal diagnosis via lumbar puncture. We are now trying to work with knight's neurology to get my father the FDA approved Alzheimer's drugs. They are not on the Medicaid reporting program yet so we are trying to wait patiently for them to do so, but have had many hiccups, and they seem to have misplaced my father's medical records in the process. I am hoping to hear back from them and get my father, the proper treatment or we will be having him go see someone else. read more

I made an appt to see a Dr Shah early May for July, the first new patient appt that worked for both of us. I filled in and returned the paperwork they sent me. Six weeks after making my appt (3 weeks before my appt date) they called and cancelled it saying they were no longer taking new patients. This is WRONG. IMO they should honor the commitment they have made to people by scheduling appointments and schedule no further ones if the doctor is no longer accepting new patients. Now I have to start over including getting a new referral to a different doctor. Really annoying and very poor patient care. read more

If I could give this practice a zero star, I would. It took me two months to get an appointment with them. I was not asked to fill out paperwork prior to the appointment, but I don't like to sit and wait at the office to do paperwork, so, the day prior, I went online to see if they had a packet to fill out and filled out everything. It took a matter of 3 minutes to do. I figured this would save time for the visit. I had a 45 minute drive, and left my house early as always. I am new to the area so I am unfamiliar with the location. When my GPS said I arrived, I drove up and down and around for 15 minutes, until I realized that it may be up the road more. I walked in 5 minutes late. Mind you there was a lady checking in prior to me so it ended up taking another 4 minutes until it was my turn. When the receptionist looked at me she asked what are you here for.... I was taken back and said I had a 3:30 appointment and she said unfortunately, we are unable to see you, you are late. You were supposed to be here 20 minutes early. I said my appointment is for 3:30 and she said you have paperwork to fill out and I said no I don't as I did it online. She then found the orange clipboard with my paperwork and said oh no I see it, but we cannot see you. Mind you I had a severe migraine, waited two months to get in and now I am being turned away. She then said we call you prior to tell you to arrive 20 early, and I said you absolutely did NOT and they honestly did not. I aid am a new patient is that how you treat new patients? She did not respond. She said well the doctor really wants you here 30 minutes early not 20. I was in shock!! What doctors office does this? NO sympathy, new patient, no kindness..I was completey confused by this.. my appt was for 3:30, I was 5 minutes late and the lady before me was taking time to check in. There was no one else in the waiting room but that one lady that checked in prior. They were NOT busy. I should have asked to see the Doctor because this is poor practice on front staff! She then said let me see if I can get you in on Friday, (although I made up my mind that I was all set with coming back.) It was a 45 minute drive, they were extremely rude. She then said, I am not even supposed to do that, and I argued a minute more and she made this huge sigh and grumble, like I was burdening her! She then immediately said, no I cannot fit you in Friday and literally threw the business card at me and said call back. I was flabbergasted!! This lady in this office needs to humble herself. You throw business cards at patients!! What kind of neurology practice is this? We have pain in our head, people have neuro issues and they are not going to budge for anyone? Fire this lady and find someone who is more humble! If you want to have your patients arrive 20-30 mins early, that is on you! Change the way you schedule, you are doing it wrong! This economy is horrid as it is, and people are extremely depressed, stressed and can barely make it out of bed. What is wrong with you people? Why are you not budging on accommodating your patients? I just don't understand complaints; they solve nothing and might say more about the patient's lack of respect to the practice and doctor than anything else. I have had such wonderful care here!. Dr. Patterson is pretty amazing. She first saw me in the hospital after partial seizures. They are extremely busy so you must be patient. I have seen both Dr. Krutheventi and Dr. Shawnna Patterson, my incredible go-to neurologist. Yes, you will have to wait. Be patient and look for the positive traits doctors have and staff have. If I could stand on the rooftops, I would warn everyone to avoid this establishment. The problem is the office staff. They say they have a policy that everyone must show up 15 minutes early for every appointment. I care for my disabled brother, and we were only told to show up early for his first appointmen, to do paperwork. I tried filling it out prior to his appointment, but the link they sent did not work. When I told them I couldn't get it to open, they said yes, they had already heard that. I'm thinking to myself, then why do you continue to send it to new patients, but what do I know? But, the latest trip to the office was the worst. We showed up for my brothers appointment and were sent away because we were not there 15 minutes early. I told them that we had only been issued that mandate for the first appointment. My brother was experiencing new and frightening symptoms....the reason for this appointment. I live 1 and 1/2 hours away from this office. I asked if he could please be seen because of the distance we had come, and because of his health. By this time, another worker came over and told me we were late and we would need to reschedule. They said that their 15 minute early policy was stated during the voicemail appointment reminder, and the email appointment reminder. I, once again, stated that this was all news to us. I might also note, there is NO signage that states this policy. We asked to see a copy of this, but that was never produced. We rescheduled my brothers appointment for two days later. I also would like to add that we made the suggestion that all patients be told, at the time they make the appointment, to be there 15 minutes early. The day before his appointment we were called and told to be there at the stated appointment time. There was nothing about being early. My brother saved this voicemail to his phone. When I arrived to pick him up, I made a copy of the message to prove to the office staff that they DO NOT tell you to show up early. I also made copies of the email appointment reminders....to prove that I was lied to because there is absolutely no mention to be there 15 minutes early. And, I also kept the little appointment card that, again, has no mandate to show up 15 minutes early. We arrived at the new appointment yesterday 40 minutes early. I had all my " documentation " with me to prove that we had been lied to and turned away without good cause. I asked to speak to the office manager. I was told she was with a patient and I would need to wait, so I sat down. The office staff I had dealt with during the previous appointment mishap were all laughing at us. I thought It was highly unprofessional and childish. Mind you, we are at a neurology office, patients who come here have issues with their brains. My brother was quite upset. I reassured him that it would be cleared up and to just let me handle it. I was truly thinking that this was just a misunderstanding and it would all be resolved. My brother, and I were called up to the window to see why we needed to see a supervisor....not who I wanted to talk to. But, I went along with it. I asked for privacy, and was denied because we were not discussing his personal medical informatio. Again, not a professional way to deal with a grievance. But, I was not going to be deterred. I explained what happened two days prior, showed her the copy of three different email appointment reminders I had, and the appointment card. I offered to play the voicemail, but she refused. I was told she would look into it, but that it was their policy to show up 15 minutes early. I was then convinced they were not going to listen to the truth, and were exercising their " power." I was very upset, it was because of the way we were, and had been treated, and because they clearly showed no desire to own up to their mistakes. But....the real kicker was when I was told that I was not to discuss any of this with the doctor. Then, I was asked if " I understood what she was saying to me!" At this point I told her that I did understand what she was saying. The office staff does not want the doctors to know how they are treating the patients! I did tell her that she would not tell me what I could say or not say to my brothers doctor. I guess they realized we would not be sheep and quietly comply with their bs! At that point we were told that my brother would not be seen and we needed to leave. All I have to say is that I would not recommend this place to ANYONE. I have no idea if the doctors know what's happening out front. Sadly, there's no way to let them know. All I can say is that there are other doctors in the area, and this place should be given wide berth. I have never seen such a complete disregard for patients rights, true empathy for their health or compassion for their suffering. read more

My friend has been trying to get a Botox injection for a medical condition (not cosmetic) for over 6 months. The doctor keeps cancelling her appointment because 1) they haven't received the Botox or 2) the doctor will be out of the office. For over 6 months! They reschedule the appointment for another month out and then they again cancel. The office staff has no empathy for my friend's situation. They can't find 15 minutes to squeeze her in for an injection! Very unreliable with unhelpful staff read more

The bottom line-I never saw Dr. Patterson. The staff is the absolute worst, rude, demeaning, The office has somehow lost $700 in insurance money - never billed me for it, even though they say they don't have it. I have NEVER received a bill from them for any treatment. And the day I showed up for the appt. I was told I could only see the doctor if I gave them $400 on the spot. I got BCBS on the phone they would not talk with them and demanded the money from me -and I do not use the word demanded" lightly - I wanted to see the doctor. They did not care that BCBS sent them the money, and they lost the checks somewhere in a Dallas, Tex. post office box. They wanted my cash then. They won't call BCBS to request new checks, They want my money. It sounds like something fraudulent($$) is going on. I was also told not to bother talking to the doctor because "she knows nothing about the money" part of the business, I was told this several times. Something is wrong in this office, I won't be going back. The doctor is okay, but she and the entire practice are poorly served. They aren't there for the patient-only to collect the $$ even if insurance has already paid it and they can't find it. Sorry I chose them after 12 years of being wonderfully treated by a doctor AND STAFF that retired, this was a downward spiral into a mean, insensitive medical experience solely perpetrated on the front end by staff. Showed up to my appointment 15 minutes in advance knowing that I would have to fill out paperwork and still waited 20 minutes pasted my appointment time to be seen. I have a rare neurological disorder 1/500,000 and looking for someone that really could show care and interest in helping me. One for the Valium refill I need to travel by airplane because that is how I got the disorder but also help in pointing me to the right people, etc. I don't feel like I received this kind of care or interest on my first visit. Dr. Patterson seemed rushed and very clinical. I've had to constantly restart every time I see a doctor and it doesn't help that we are military and I've had to move twice in the last 6 months to get poor bedside manner. I'm hoping the next time I go in, I'll get a different reception and treatment as this is a VERY difficult disorder to try and function with in a daily basis. read more

Dr is good but office staff is not efficient. Had an appointment then got pushed out they said Dr had an emergency. I rescheduled but told them I have an appointment w my son to see the dr also on Friday and would his appointment still be happening. They said yes. I drove an hour to get to the appointment only to get inside and they say they don't take my sons insurance. I had already given the insurance information to them a week prior and they said they took his insurance. They also said the Dr canceled and wasn't seeing anyone and we should have gotten a call. We did not! I then saw someone coming out of the back and said is the dr here they said yes. Odd since they said he wasn't seeing anyone. I was very upset no one called saying my sons insurance wasn't covered there and didn't get a call to cancel then drive an hour each way. Dr is very caring the one time I met him but this is no way to run an office. Office staff needs to be trained or let go. Not friendly at all. read more

My family doctor referred me to Knight Neurology and sent them my name so they could call me and set up an appointment. It was nearly two months until I heard from them, but I was glad they had an opening for the following week. My appointment time was 10:30 a.m., and around 9:00 that morning I called the office to see if I could fill out the paperwork ahead of time. They emailed me a link to the patient portal and told me that if I filled out the forms at home I could come at 11:00 instead of 10:30. I filled out 6 pages of forms, put them in an envelope along with my ID, insurance and payment cards, and arrived at the office at 11:00 a.m. I called from the parking lot, but got no answer. I went up to the door, and there was no one in the waiting room, so I went in. The reception desk was behind closed glass windows with signs saying not to tap on the glass, so I continued to wait. After about 10 more minutes, the glass doors slid open and a woman asked if she could help me. I gave my name, and she said, "Uh oh. What do I do now?" I joked that I'd never heard anyone respond to my name like that before, and a young man beside her said, "You'll have to reschedule her." "Um, what?" I said. The young man said that my appointment time was 10:30 and that it was now too late for me to be seen. I explained that I had spoken to someone that morning and was told to come in with my forms filled out at 11:00, but he cut me off, saying that the doctor's schedule was extremely full and that no variation in timing would be possible. I was still the only one in the waiting room. I began to explain that I had been there for nearly 15 minutes and that I had called from the car before I came in, but he turned to the woman beside him. "Just go ahead and reschedule her," he said. At this point an elderly patient came in, and Knight Neurology owes that patient a debt of gratitude for being the sole reason I didn't go Total Brooklyn Girl on their sorry a**es. Apparently the time I spent printing out and completing the paperwork, masking up, leaving my home for probably only the fifteenth time since March, calling ahead twice, and waiting patiently and alone in their waiting room instead of pounding on their stupid glass windows is worth nothing. I've put in a call to my doctor for a referral to a different neurologist. read more

I care for a relative who has Alzheimer's and trigeminal nerve pain. She was to be seen by Dr. Shah due to the severity of her lingering pain despite receiving two nerve blocks and an ablation 8 weeks prior. Neither Norco nor Gabapentin were alleviating her excruciating pain. She was referred to Knight Neurology to be seen asap so that her medications could be adjusted to better manage her unrelenting pain. The neurologists were highly regarded by the office of her pain specialist who referred her. As I live in Michigan, I have managed her medical appointments with trusted escorts who stay with her and generate my communication with physicians using speaker phone or FaceTime. I provide her medical history, status of symptoms and have the originals of her identifying information. She carries a color photocopy of her license. She was refused medical care because she did not have her original driver's license. In spite of the aide pleading with the receptionist, then the manager to simply talk to me so that I could either show them the original driver's license or resolve this problem in another way, both of these office staff members absolutely refused to speak with me and refused the aide's attempts to assist. A simple solution would have been to ask that we discuss the matter away from the main desk and, if their inflexibility disallowed her being seen in spite of evidence to prove her identity, she could have been set up with another appointment so that I could have arranged for her original license to be sent to her assisted living center or arranged for her to obtain a State ID. This occurred 4 days ago. I have her set up with the first available appointment with another practice 8 weeks from now. We are on their cancellation list. So we wait and she suffers. This negative review is completely unrelated to the neurologists in this practice. It is the incompetent office staff. read more

I read all the reviews before I went the first time. My (new) family doctor had referred me, and being new to the area I did not know where else to go so I decided 'what the hey, give them a chance' but was expecting bad office staff. Much to my surprise I had a wonderful experience, both with the front staff and with my physician, Dr. "K". I have to say I was quite happy with the way I was treated by everyone. The office people were polite, efficient and friendly. I'm not sure why my experience was so different from others. Perhaps they have been reading these reviews and have made some changes - but I suggest you give them a try. Today is the third time I have been there and every time it has been good. Dr. Patterson is excellent. The office staff is horrible. They will call and cancel your appointment with less than 24-hour notice, even though you've been preparing for the appointment per the doctor's instructions. They mess up the insurance constantly. The newest insurance girl, Danielle, is absolutely clueless. My insurance called her and explained the process only for her to say they were incorrect. It's their process...how can they be wrong about how to do it? When you call the front office, they don't even know who Danielle is. There is no communication between office staff - if one goes on vacation no one else knows what to do. If they call to confirm your appointment and you don't answer the phone, they will automatically cancel the appointment. They have overbilled me many times and then sent me hundreds of dollars in refund checks at the end of the year. It's amazing how incompetent they seem to be. I have mentioned all of this to the doctor and nothing seems to change. I've been seeing this doctor for almost 5 years and don't want to see anyone else but I'm about at my wits end with this staff. read more

***Knight Neurology will not see you for a follow-up or new appointment if you have ever been in an auto accident at any time in your life.*** I called to make a neurology appointment for neck pain, at the request of my general physician, following an auto accident that I was involved in 14 years ago. I called several time and got the voicemail each time, and it wasn't until the 4th time that a human picked up the phone. I was asked if I was calling about a follow-up or new appointment: I said new appointment, and explained what for. The scheduling department responded with it was company policy that the don't see anyone that has been involved in an automobile accident. I thought I had misunderstood and let them know it wasn't an accident that was recent, that this had occurred many years ago and that my general physician and I were trying to find answers about my neck pain. So, I repeated back: "So, correct me if I am wrong, but you are saying that no neurologist in the practice has ever seen a patient that has been in an auto accident at any point in their life?" They responded with: "Yes sir, that is correct." I thought this was quite comical...so I laughed and said: "OK...thank you." Then ended the call. What an absurd business practice...never in my life have I been refused service. read more

I was seen by Dr.McCorquedale. He was excellent and although the tests were somewhat unpleasant I received an excellent diagnosis...not what I wanted to hear but very accurate. Subsequent surgery has corrected carpal tunnel syndrome in both hands but there is nothing to be done about peripheral neuropathy...which was also a diagnosis. Dr.M was very understanding and got me set in the right direction for follow-up! read more

Been calling for 2 weeks and every time I got ahold of someone they hung up on me and when I finally got in touch and they actually talked they were extremely rude. Finding a new place to be seen. I can't give a review on the doctors because I never made it that far but if the Doctors see this you NEED to hire new people up front because they are ruining your business. read more

I wish I could give less than one star. First of all they are very very unprofessional. I showed up 30 minutes early for my appointment only having to wait 2 hours before I was able to see the doctor. Then the receptionist had a nasty attitude when I asked how much longer it would be. After speaking with the doctor I was charged $20 for a doctor's note to give to my job. This is overall the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor who pretty much did nothing and seemed to know nothing either, I had to suggest a treatment plan for my injury because he was clueless. One star only because we liked Dr. Patterson. Their billing practices are not acceptable. On our first visit they demanded payment up front that was double the actual charge for the office visit. They claimed there would be a refund but that refund was then applied to the second visit for which they demanded full payment of the maximum charge for an office visit. We are on medicare so the charge is limited to what medicare will pay. When confronted they said they are a private practice and can do anything they want. If we don't like it go somewhere else or go to the ER. read more

I recently visited this office with my mother-in-law who was scheduled to see Dr. McCorquodale. The office was kind enough to give us the new patient paperwork that she needed to complete prior to our appointment date so she would have the ability to complete it at home, thus only requiring us to arrive 15 minutes early. We were seen promptly. It was my experience that the staff was professional and I can't say enough good things about Dr. McCorquodale. He spent more than an hour with my mother-in-law, reviewing every aspect of her medical history, medications, their purpose as well as explaining the treatment plan in layman terms and was kind enough to write out notes for her that she could take home. He is an amazing physician, very kind and compassionate and our family is very grateful that he is caring for our loved one. read more

Can I give less then 1 star? Sadly, we never actually saw the doctor. Only had the horrific experience of dealing with this establishments front office staff. If there's proof within just 1 company that there is a sincere lack of competence, professionalism and overall concern for patient care, just make a phone call to this office and it will be plain as day. Just a brief tell of our experience, we scheduled an appt. for my husband who was referred to see Dr. Shah by our primary care physician. When we called the morning of my husbands appt. to confirm their location, we were told that they had left a message to confirm appt. but when we didn't call them back they cancelled our appt. They said they will squeeze him if he can get there in 30 minutes. My husband rushed there only to be told that the primary doctor never sent a release form to them and therefore he couldn't see the doctor. Information they should have known before they made him leave work and rush to their office. Side note; when we called the primary physician, we were told that paperwork was sent 2 months prior. So, he informed them they needed to update his phone number and rescheduled for about a month later.... 1 day before his appt. we hadn't received any phone calls from them and didn't want last months mishap to repeat so I called where I was told that they've tried to contact us but since we didn't call them back they again cancelled his appt. Imagine my frustration, when I'm put on hold for 4 minutes and only actually speak with the supervisor after I hang up the phone and call back. Mind you, I'm very agitated at this point and perhaps spoke a bit harshly to the supervisor, especially when she chose to cut me off and say "Now you listen to me". However, hanging up on me twice and then picking up the phone on my third call and putting the line down while she explains "me" to the other gals in the office as I listen has to be the most unprofessional way to deal with an issue. I put my husband on the line since he is the patient, they rescheduled him (again) and then called a few hours later and said after relaying the story to the doctor it has been decided that they will not see him. Now, I'm all for employers standing up for their employee's. But, I'm guessing the doctor isn't aware of how his policies and/or ridiculous employee's treat his patients with such dismissal and disregard. I can only imagine how hard it would be for an elderly person to deal with this offices staff members incompetence. I feel for anyone that goes here and hope that our story will help others to find a better office to visit until this doctor realizes his front staff and those that answer the phones are what will help build or destroy his reputation within this community. read more
