Really quite pleased with our stay here. It was a good room with a unique layout unlike the standard hotel room, and thus felt very roomy. Plenty of warm blankets, mattress was not too soft nor too firm, short carpeted flooring, really nice bathroom set-up! The shower was on-point. Lots of hot water, the shower head delivered good flow in an even spray pattern, and was mounted well above my head. Showers are always one of those iffy you-never-know-what-you'll-get kind of things when traveling, so this was a pleasant surprise. Mini fridge, microwave, satellite TV, flatscreen, ceiling fan, and A/C unit that worked really well. Even an additional plush armchair by the bed was really appreciated. Also an electrical socket with FOUR plugs! We could all charge our devices simultaneously without hunting around the room or unplugging lamps or other annoyances I've had with other motels. There's guest laundry available, and an ice machine that, fair warning, ejects an entire ice bucket's worth of ice with one press of the button. I did not know this, held the button, and ended up with an avalanche of ice that did not fit in my Hydroflask, LOL. My only frustration was the short window for breakfast (which we missed) from 7-9am. Otherwise this was an excellent stay! read more

Stayed here while driving through the states. Needed a place to stay late at night and wished we chose somewhere else. There were dead cockroaches in the room, 1/2 used toilet paper, some liquid dried in the dresser and the shower was filthy. We didn't even take a shower because didn't feel confutable to. Would have left and checked out but it was already past 11pm and needed to get up early to keep driving. Waste of my money. Also was lied to about the room. Said it would be a king bed and two fulls, the king bed was actually a queen. read more

Me, my wife, & doggie spent 1 night at Knights Inn Van Horn. This was a nice stop between California and San Antonio Texas. We did not want to take a chance and drive at night thru the desert. We had a great stay there. In person the place is so much greater than the picture we saw on the website. Check-in was so simple. The front desk clerk made us feel welcome and made us feel safe and secure. Our parking space was conveniently right outside our room. The room was very nice, very clean, and spacious. This was the perfect place to stop when snowy weather ruined my driving plans for the rest of the day. There's a tv, mini fridge, microwave, heater, blowdryer, shower with bath tub and it all looks super clean. I like that they give you makeup wipes with your shampoo/conditioner/face and body bar. There is parking directly outside the room (which I love when traveling in an unfamiliar area) and a Mexican restaurant across the street that has a really good brisket quesadilla. Great value..... Was just passing through (honestly who isnt in this lil gem on the plains) and didnt want to push on to a bigger city. We made a reservation with booking.com and we weren't disappointed. The check in was quick and easy, the staff polite and helpful, our room was neat and clean, the bed comfortable and the AC cold. It's all one level so you can park in front of your room. The carpet seems to roll up at night early in town but there were a few different sit down dining options. The regular fast food options are always available. I believe there is a pool but didn't use it. Also if your looking for a big breakfast you might be disappointed. Overall we will definitely be staying here again if ever in the area. read more

I went in to stay here on the drive from Waco to Tucson, and the room was terrible. Cigar holes on the bed and holes in the wall. I went to bed and in the morning I woke up to severe itchy bedbug bites covering my body. I looked in the bed and I saw tiny little bedbugs crawling around. TERRIBLE. Then, when I had gotten ready and was about to head out, I needed breakfast. They advertised free breakfast and there was nothing except a bowl of moldy bananas and muffins which the manager said was not safe to eat. Finally, the soda machines are busted and the ice machine is filthy. If you like sleeping in a bedbug nest, stay here. read more

Let me start off by saying if this hotel was around $80 cheaper I wouldn't complain but for how much we paid I'm EXTREMELY disappointed. To start off immediately once we walked in the room there was a cockroach in the bathroom freshly on its back. The floors are all warped in the room, there's a huge hole in the wall behind the toilet, the mirror closet doors were cracked, the floor boards are so dirty, the furniture has water damage and outlets were hanging out of the walls. Like I said if this place was way cheaper I would expect all of this but with how much we had to pay I'd expect way better. Don't go to the breakfast there's really nothing to eat and the place smells odd. We paid $135 and that's with our military discount and we did have dogs with us. read more

If you're staying in Van Horn it's obvious you are passing through and just need a place to rest your head for a few hours. We booked this hotel after reading reviews on Yelp. They were very misleading. This hotel is basically what you'd expect--an old drive up motel. We booked a suite (supposed to be a king bed and two doubles in an adjoining room). The room with two beds was as expected -- small room with two beds, a flat screen TV and view of the dirt junkyard out back. The main room was a queen instead of a king, had a flat screen TV, microwave, refrigerator (unplugged when we arrived), tiny table with two worn out chairs, and a bathroom. Positives--sheets were worn but clean and bed was shockingly comfortable, bathroom was updated (good shower pressure), and room didn't smell like smoke (surprising since the carpet and upholstered chairs were clearly from an era when everyone smoked). We didn't try out the TVs, but they were nicer than expected. We felt safe and were able to park near our room. Negatives--there is a very loud train that runs right behind the hotel several times a night (think 3am), we booked a king bed and got a queen, internet did NOT work, and basically the room was a pig but with a fresh coat of lipstick. Of note---the advertised rate was $139 for our room. Our military discount rate of $60 is the only positive keeping this review from one star. read more

I don't want to say my expectations weren't that high, but I've stayed in some pretty not-nice small town hotels. But having been forced to sleep in the woods in the rain with nothing but a poncho before, I don't need a super nice place. All that being said, I was pleasantly surprised by the Knights Inn. The room was very clean, the bathroom was well kept, showerhead worked great (usually one of the worst parts of cheap hotels in my experience) and the bed was comfy. Probably not the cheapest room in a town full of motels, but not expensive by any stretch and with as nice a room as it was it's an easy 4 stars. Last note though is a train track runs right through Van Horn and will the trains will toot their own horn in the middle of the night. read more

The room and bathroom were very clean, beds are comfortable, it was quiet and everything worked. There is a mini fridge, microwave, TV, coffee maker, desk and small bistro table for meals. We arrived late and slept in the next morning. The black out curtains worked 100%. Yes the decor is outdated but still in very good shape so who cares! You're not living there! So very thankful we arrived late at night, so that I was not aware of the sketchiness that is this area (thus the loss of star). Since I arrived well past dark, the area did not scare me away one bit. Location is right off the freeway, easy to get to! Night worker was quick to open the door and check me in. Easy check in process, very nice man! All rooms are on the ground floor, so you can park right outside. Bed was comfortable. Room was very large! This is the best place ever. The beds are supper comfy and the rooms are clean as a whistle. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and it will be my stop over place from here on out on my drives from San Antonio to Oakland, Ca. Additionally the rooms have newer fixtures and they have ceiling fans!!!! I have stayed at lots of small hotel/motels and no one ever had the forethought to put in a ceiling fan. Pure genius and the room airflow and temperature is perfect. For the money, this was a really comfortable and clean place to stay. It was much nicer than expected and updated and super affordable and only $50 with $8 for our dog. It is associated with Wyndham somehow and that price was with our AARP card. We were pleasantly surprised we had a king non-smoking room available because there wasn't much available in town. This is an oil workers town but there are some decent places to have a quiet good night's sleep. Breakfast was just continental but it was actually good. Don't worry that railroad tracks are close. They're well insulated and we did not hear a thing. There was granite in the bathroom and a hair dryer and microwave and refrigerator. There was also a two-person table and chairs. It was clean & comfortable & Quiet, other then a random train (but I like the sound of trains). My parents were along for the ride & they forgot the pillows they brought from home. We realized it later that day, when we were 2 miles down the road. We called to inquire about them & yes they found them & yes they would hold on to them for 10 days, so we could pick them up on our way back home. 10 days later when we passed through, we stopped & got them. A great deal for the price. This was unassuming motel was clean, clean, clean! The furniture was not modern, but was well maintained. The TV wasn't a flat screen, but the picture quality was good, and there were several more channels than the typical hotel selection. They didn't offer us free Wi-Fi, but a lot of free Wi-Fi isn't any good. It looks like one of those old motor courts, but in a way that's more convenient than a hotel for folks like us who have limited mobility and a lot of stuff to bring into the room. I'd say this hotel was nice for what it is. My husband and I reserved one of the rooms with two beds. It's an older building but you can see that they have updated some things like the toilet, shower, vanity. It was pretty clean. The only thing that really drove me crazy was the A/C unit was kinda loud for my liking. And we rented during the fall/winter so wanted the room to stay warm. The bedding is a little thin for my tastes. Bed wasn't to soft or to hard. Wifi was okay. Tv wasn't an hd or anything like that but good picture quality. I'd say you are getting what you pay for for this little hotel. Which isn't bad. It had better reviews than the others in this price range of $65-$70 and location. read more

When my family arrived in this town. The whole town had no vacancy. This hotel offered only one room: a family room for 170$ after tax. It was a decent enough room, but the bathroom had no ventilation and the front desk lady said for me to come down to the lobby myself to pick up the towels because there aren't enough towels in our rooms to begin with. Ended up in Van Horn on our way thru TX. Drove to a few of the hotels listed n called a few. Found Knights Inn n there were only a few cars but most of these reviews were 5s. So we went in n for the low rate, it was awesome. New granite sink n marble shower with all new faucets, as well as new floor and carpet. Room was very clean n warm. No outside noises, heater was a low hum and we both slept very well. Definitely recommend for everyone! Free Wi-fi and continental brkfst. Great value! read more

A welcome rest for weary travelers! We landed here in an ice storm before Thanksgiving. The staff were so welcoming and helpful, and the room cozy, warm, and clean. Our dog was welcome, too. Very close to a fun Mexican restaurant which we enjoyed & which was helpful since we didn't want to go far in the bad weather! We will stay here again when we drive through Van Horn. read more

Although the room was decent I couldn't help but feel hurt by the ageist staff. This may be because I don't think the couple ever gets a full nights sleep with roustabouts coming in all night. I don't think they like white girl's in their mid 20s so I don't suggest staying here if that's what you are. The continental "breakfast" was mediocre at best with very few options and everything was processed and had sugar except for the over cooked hard boiled unfertilized baby chicken fetuses. To my disappointment the hot tub was not in service because it wasn't a in season (apparently summer in Texas is the season for a 104 degree it tub, who knew).
