What crossed the line for me was learning that they threatened to fire someone and told them they would ruin their chances of buying a house just days before closing, simply because they suspected that person was considering leaving. Yes, Florida is an at-will state but trying to destabilize someone's life over a hunch is beyond wrong. I will never support an establishment that doesn't take care of the people who keep it running. Loyalty matters. When someone gives over eight years of their life to a job and finally reaches their breaking point, that says everything.
