Super service! So good we went back there for lunch and dinner. Burgers were the bomb and loved the homemade jalapeño poppers.

Great burgers and friendly staff. Added bonus was laundry facilities on the other side of the building.

This restaurant has a new owner and the name has changed to Knotheads. A complete remodel has…read moreimproved the look and use of space. The Bait Shop still shares the front side of the building. The dining room of the restaurant enters on the side nearest the motel in the same parking lot. The food is good and ranges from sandwiches to steaks and much in between. The salads could be inproved; especially the side salad which was just a small portion of iceburg lettuce and a little shredded cheese served on a saucer size plate. A bigger portion and some tomato and cucumber would really fill it out as a true side to a meal.

I have to say this was one of my stranger dining experiences, but not all bad! First off, I was…read morejust grateful that they were open on Labor Day- so although the service was pretty crappy- I suppose the waitress might have just been irritated to be working. The menu is odd- with Mexican, American (bar food), and Chinese items across the three pages. I couldn't help but wonder if I was crazy for trying a Chinese entrée, but couldn't help myself! I ordered the combination (chicken, steak and shrimp) fried rice with sweet chili sauce on the side. Surprisingly, it was DELICIOUS! I can only assume that the Chinese entrees were on the menu, because someone there knew how to cook them. The meat was tasty and tender, and the dish had generous amounts of all ingredients and an overall large portion. The rest of my crew stuck to chicken tenders and burgers, but no complaints there either! They even had Corn Nuggets on the menu, which are strangely delicious and worth trying given the opportunity. This place isn't cheap, our bill for a few sodas and six entrees was over $100.00- but again, the food was pretty darn good. My stepdaughter said the bathroom was atrocious, but I didn't see it first-hand. If you're in the mood for an adventure, or your dining options are limited- this play could meet your needs....

First things first, the 3.5 star review is ridiculous and unworthy of serious consideration. The…read moreDepot delivered one of the best meals I have eaten in a long time. I do not review unless it is stellar or horrible...that is my rule. Start with the beer selection; 48 beers and many local or SD origin beers - A+. The food; start with the Chislic's, a SD thing....med rare and lightly dusted with Garlic Salt....think burnt ends without the noise and flavor masking of sauce and smoke....just the purest beef flavor. My buddy had the Burger, which he, as a burger aficionado described as a top 2 burger. I had the French Dip and oh man was it great. The Au Jus was flavorful but not oversalted. The final note on food; we both had the broccoli and man was it awesome....yes I used awesome and broccoli in the same sentence. It was lightly seasoned, cooked to perfection and had a light char to it which made the texture both unique and flavorful. Best broccoli I have ever eaten hands down. The service was top shelf; very friendly and attentive and genuine (you can tell the difference). Levi and Mercedes were phenomenal. The building it sits in is historic and meticulously maintained and preserved...a piece of American history amid a landscape that represents the opening of the American West.If you are rolling through Mitchell SD come here to eat and drink, you will not be disappointed. I will be back the next time I am headed West.
