Best overall comic shop in north county, if not all of San Diego county. I stopped in for the first time today, and I was impressed. They have a good balance between the comics and the gaming aspects, unlike some stores where one or the other takes dominion. The owner was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable, and not at all condescending as comic store employees sometimes tend to be. He had a great way of promoting new products without feeling like a salesman in it for the buck The only thing I felt was missing was a large selection of older comics. The store is still young, so I'm sure they can't deal in that market just yet, but if they get back issue bins of silver and Bronze Age books, then they would definitely reign supreme read more

I've came in to this place a few times before making my review or giving up on this store. But to be honest, outside of the gentlemen with the ponytail,it's pretty hard to even get some assistance or even a greeting. It seems like they are more interested in talking with Im not sure if other employees or friends but talking about pay rates, or opening up booster packs, I've had different scenarios happen the few times I've game in. The gentleman with the ponytail was great but he can't save this store. Store seems great from the product I've seen but the customer service is very poor. My recommendation is just to place online orders it's faster and just as personal. Sense it seems like you're less of a bother. read more

This is the definitive place to go for comics and gaming in San Diego. They have an incredibly wide range of products on offer and everyone who works there is extremely kind and knowledgeable. Great place to get comics. I've put my full pull list here and haven't had any bad experiences over the past six months. All my books have been in great condition. Maybe the occasional spine tic on an issue that I wouldn't consider important. And I buy a lot of issues, so out of thousands of books I'd say less than 10 have had a spine tic and that book would still be considered a 9.8. They have great claim sales and all of the staff I have met have been super friendly. They also let you know about great writers and artists who are either at the top of their game or up and coming. They have the best indie books along with everything you would want from marvel or dc. Also the staff is really helpful in letting you know what new books to watch out for. They give you their honest opinion about stories and don't try to push things onto you. They also respect your opinion about stories. You can tell everyone from the owner to the staff are enthusiasts about all things comic and card related. In San Diego you really only have 3-4 good shops. I'd put this store as my number 1 shop because of how easy it is to park and how helpful the staff are. Also if I ever raise a question about something they're quick to find a solution. I don't think I've ever had a request of mine denied. Sometimes there's healthy competition with other customers who are on top of what they want but it's all in good fun. Also they have back issues for days. I can jump into a series that's a year or two old a lot of times when I've finished the titles I already have. Make sure to ask questions and also look at the back issues. You will find something you like. I'm at the point where I've found too many things that I like. Watch the foc videos, and attend some claim sales that are on Thursday or Saturday nights. They definitely have some gems in here and I can't wait to see them keep growing. read more

He has a lot of experience and knowledge in everything from writers to artists. He will share cool, behind the scenes stories if you are able to hang out long enough. If there has been one bright spot in my 2020 it has been finding this comic shop. I used to have a pull at Comics N Stuff at the Mall in Carlsbad since I lived nearby in Oceanside but they shut down due to COVID restrictions so I did an online search for other options. To be honest I wasn't super stoked on the idea of going out to San Marcos for my measly 6 book pull. All that disappeared the second I walked into Knowhere. The staff is super cool and friendly and learned my name and reading habits shockingly quick, especially considering they've never seen my entire face. They also recommend FANTASTIC books, you can tell they really have a deep knowledge and love of the medium. Oh and the best part is how connected to the comic industry they are. They have artist and writer meet and greets often (when not on restrictions) and I've never been to a shop that seems to actually care about their customers so much. For example, I picked up Pulp by Brubaker and Phillips, bring it up to the register and Mathias nonchalantly mentions oh hey we had the creative team sign the inside of the book. What! How freakin' cool is that?? A lot of shops would mark it up and bleed as many dollars for this perk out of their customers as they could. Not the good people at Knowhere. I wish I knew about this place years ago. So if you're looking for a place to plug into the comic book community, Knowhere is the place to be. read more

Absolutely love the community, the atmosphere, and the kindness of the employees. They taught my 6 year old daughter how to build a Pokemon deck, then seamlessly transitioned to a high-level discussion about Marvel 's treatment of the Iron Fist character across media outlets. It's nice to have a classic games and comics store so close - this place is clean, well-lit, and very friendly. It does have some standard gaming store tropes (I'll let you find out) but it is very approachable for the kiddos and old-timers alike. A little bit of everything - even a handful of D&D 5E books. The staff seems to know quite a bit, and isn't afraid to tell you when they don't know, and ask other staffers for help, which is a bonus. read more

I don't always leave reviews, but when I do I drink Stone IPA while I do. Jokes aside. I highly recommend this place. The employess are very helpful. They help you with pull lists and with retrieving any comics missing in your collection. I couldn't make it in for 2 months due to my schedule and they held my pull list the entire time. Mathias is the one I have most of my encounters with and he is a very kind and helpful person. I will continue to get my comics and more from them. read more

My wife and I went for the Magic the Gathering Open House on September 16th in order to learn how to play MtG. The people at the shop were very friendly and helpful. i love this place but it sucks that you cannot get in the door without breathing in smoke from all the shaddy looking smokers that block the path to the door from the tatoo shop next door. i have left because i was unable to walk in. they are losing so much business because of the tatoo shop and all the smokers blocking the door. one time they would not move out of the way. i feel so bad because i really think the guys that work there are so cool and the games they offer are the best. read more
