The "person" could be the cook, an 18 year old or someone else experienced. Anyone who has children knows it can be done, but at what cost? Unexplained injuries, poor attitude from staff and even unreported injuries. Please know that this facility meets the rules and regulations as outlined by the state, but IS NOT QUALITY CHILDCARE. There is a difference. Please learn from our experiences and bring your children anywhere but here. Don't solely take my advice, see the consensus in the reviews here.

TERRIBLE. This place smells bad, up until recently kids played in pebbles, not a playground (it…read moretook 2+ years to install a proper playground), you pay extra for summer camp to find 5 gallon buckets at the center are "water day", kids come home complaining that there was not enough food at lunch to make them feel full, items are lost or sent home with other children and never returned, and they refuse to make notifications in emergency situations beyond an automated mass text. Behavioral problems are ignored which breeds even more problems. When Jody was directly confronted to discuss a solution to continuous accident reports involving my child being bitten several times a week, there was no accountability or professionalism. She instead became extremely defensive and nasty. She actually said, "I'm sorry you feel that way" when concerns about children's safety were raised. Her solution was to tell me that my 1.5 year old needed to learn self defense. There are no set potty training methods to assist parents. Teachers are there for 5+ years per the website? HAHAHAHA Shoutout to Ms. Shauna, Ms. Maya, Ms. Madison, Ms. Brooke, Mx. Wind-most of whom came and went in the short time my children attended along with DOZENS of other teachers so much that my children didn't even get to know their names. They falsely advertise part time; you can only do it if you find another family to cover the days you do not want your child to attend. At preschool graduation they claim there is no time to call attention to each child individually but there was time to watch a 20 minute video displaying how fantastic and successful the owner is. This was cringy and uncomfortable at best, makes you question why you spend so much on subpar child care at worst. If you only goal is to keep your kids alive while you're at work, this suffices. If you want quality care, go somewhere else. There are some teachers who actually care about the kids and do it for the right reasons, but it's clear the owner does not.

In my opinion Avondale Academy does not offer competitive pay rates. Teachers are significantly…read moreunderpaid. They save money by offering incentives which sacrifices a portion of pay. Management is only invested in protecting their circle. The circle consists of the founding women and unassertive employees who have been there longer than five years. They lead covertly and have a "no gossip policy" teachers are forced to sign, but don't follow themselves. Decisions on my behalf were made by people who never saw me teach. Losing multiple teachers every year is the norm. They cycle through teachers like nobody's business. They sweet talk the new hires and tell them they're really good, when they're struggling and have limited training. I was only paired with young, inexperienced teachers and encouraged to support/guide them without extra compensation. I was told the exact same worded praise as another teacher with zero experience. Teachers were encouraged to share their teaching skills/strategies without compensation. The young new hires were commonly highlighted in newsletters and social media. They play favorites. Incorrect information and poor management communication are commonplace. Every teacher I worked alongside quit. I saw at least nine teachers quit. By burning out and dumping the new hires they can hire new teachers each year at a lower pay rate, protecting their circle, and saving money. There are reasons this preschool has become a multimillion dollar company so quickly. And they're not good. Avondale is good at making money. They use teachers and crush dreams. They crushed mine.

On his second day, I received a message from his teacher stating that he was disrupting nap time, being noisy, and causing other issues. I understood that adjusting to a new environment can be difficult for young children, so I took their concerns seriously and worked with my son to reinforce quiet time. However, I continued receiving messages from his teacher daily, and it reached the point where I was anxiously anticipating another complaint. One day, I noticed his nap blanket was covered in leaves, as if he had been outside. When I asked him, he told me that he did his "quiet time" outside. When we inquired about this, the school denied it. Later, I was called into a meeting with the behavioral technician, Jessica Triptow. At the time, I had no idea about her legal troubles (you can google it) but in hindsight, knowing she was involved in my child's education is deeply unsettling. During the meeting, we were advised to enroll our son full-time to help him adjust to the routine. He was later moved to another class with a more patient teacher. During another meeting, I had the opportunity to review the classroom cameras and witnessed a disturbing incident where a teacher forcefully picked up a child who refused to go inside after playtime and dropped him roughly. Thankfully, the child was not an infant, but it was still highly concerning. Eventually, the school suggested that my son be evaluated for possible autism this recommendation was made by Jessica Triptow (which by the way, made it to the news for very disturbing reasons, you can google it) Shortly after, we were informed that he could not return unless we provided a classroom "shadow" at our own expense, so basically paying another person to do their job . This entire experience was frustrating, stressful, and deeply disappointing. In retrospect, I am relieved that we decided to remove our child from this location. I have since spoken to other parents who shared similar concerns about this center. While I hope other locations uphold higher standards, I cannot in good conscience recommend this one. I initially had high expectations, but unfortunately, our experience was nothing like what we had hoped for. Another shady thing is that they hide their google reviews, I guess I should've seen those red flags.
