My wife has had a horrible experience in the cardiac ward with some of the nurses and head nurse last Saturday morning after having a breast rebuild from breast cancer and having been in icu for 3-4days was transferred to a ward that doesn't deal with patients with cardiomyopathy it took the surgeon to get her to be transferred to the cardiac ward in miller after being transferred ther she asked if she could have a private room from the response was from one of the nurses saying you got what you wanted. on Saturday morning the sur came in to check on her and got her into her private room the nurse came in and told her to move the large chair and to pack her bags mind you after having major surgery then said to her she can walk to her private room mind you she was in room 3 and all the way to bed 15 all the way to the other end of the hallway. My wife asked is that punishment for getting mov to a private room the nurse snugged with a smirk this is disgusting behaviour from the nurses read more

My wife was rushed, in an ambulance, to Hospital with Chest Pains... we could've gone go Maroondah (public) but the Ambos thought we'd get better and more urgent medical attention at Knox Private. The Knox Private Emergency Department care rated 3 /5 at best... they would've scored lower if not for one particular nurse who was fantastic. The other nurses couldn't care less and the doctor on duty was must've spent all of 90 seconds talking about her medical condition... instead he was more focused on persuading us to check-in to the ward for monitoring and an angiogram that same evening. No sooner we signed the paperwork, the angiogram was pushed to the next day and after 8 hours of virtual neglect (no doctor, nurses had no clue what meds were prescribed and administered, etc.), we were told that the angiogram was only going to be a couple of days later... the assumption being that we would be happy to sit in hospital and charge our stay to our Private Medical Cover. The medical care at the Ward gets a 0/5 score, only because we give the a lower score. Not once did a Cardiologist see the patient, who was rushed to emergency by Ambulance. Knox Private is a business first and a hospital second. Stay away. read more

Knox Private Hospital is bloody good. My sister stayed here recently with suspected appendicitis. She ended up having something totally different but it meant she had to stay almost a week. The nurses here were fantastic and really supportive. My sister was the youngest patient and there was a young nurse who would always pop in and keep her entertained when she had a spare minute. The rooms here are all private and the halls are very quiet too. Patients have the option of leaving the door open or not. They each have their own private bathroom too. It is very large to accommodate for all patients. There are about four floors in the private section and there are decent views out the window. Granted the main thing you can see is the road but it is still nice to sit and watch cars pass by. The carpark is below the building and is capped at $10 per day. This gets pretty expensive when someone you know has a prolonged stay so definitely consider car pooling or parking at the McDonalds across the road. read more

$340 and 4+ hours of waiting for my elderly mother with a broken elbow that requires surgery to be admitted. What an absolute waste disgrace. Would have been quicker going to a public hospital, at least you don't have to pay. Mum was not offered any pain medication, no nurses came near her....nothing. read more

I was recently an inpatient at Knox Private Hospital. I spent 5 nights in hospital, on Ambleside and Tangarah wards, and the rooms on both wards were very nice. Unfortunately, no private rooms were available. After 2 nights of sharing I was moved to a double room and had the room to myself for the rest of my stay and that made things more pleasant. The food was pretty good for hospital food. There were 2 or 3 choices for each meal. There is a Hudson's Coffee in the hospital so you can get coffee and snacks there but it closes quite early (the sign says 8pm but I went at 7:30pm one night and it was already closed). There is undercover parking for visitors and it's capped at $10 per day which I think is very good. Most other suburban hospitals have very limited parking so cheap, on-site parking is a big plus for me. I was very impressed with most of the staff. There was only one exception, a night nurse who was abrupt, patronising and insensitive. The other nurses were friendly, professional, knowledgeable, patient and really kind. I was especially appreciative of one nurse who dropped off a medical certificate at my house after I went home. It was above and beyond her job but it saved me having to chase it up when I was at home on bed rest. Another nurse ordered me a birthday cake because I was in hospital for my birthday and I thought that was really nice of her. The emergency department staff, radiology staff, pathology staff and kitchen staff were also really lovely to deal with. read more

Find another hospital!!! If it was not for my mothers brilliant surgeon operating at Knox we would not have carried on with her stay . My mother was in over two weeks and the nursing care was appalling . On one occasion after serious surgery she was left unattended for 45 minutes in the shower , no amount of pressing her buzzer had any affect . Pain relief was terrible even when prescribed by her surgeon the nurses said it was unnecessary !!! Just basic ordinary care was lacking in every respect, to get help with my mother I had to track down which ever nurse was supposably looking after her at that time and usually found her chatting away behind reception . Surely in any hospital you would care for your patients as you yourself or members of your family would like to be treated . There is absolutely NO EXCUSE ! read more

Recently renovated this place has staff waiting to assist you. Very modern and clean. Car park is slow and confusing for some and I always got held up helping someone get out. Very nice staff. read more

I had my baby here in March 2016 and found majority of the staff and facilities to be fantastic. My husband was allowed to stay in bed with me every night I was there too, which is great with a newborn. Overall a great experience in the maternity ward. Highly recommend. read more

No do not choose this hospital. Had a recent stay of 10 days, the care was terrible the staff are too bisy socialising and leave everything to the students to do. Listed many complaints in my letter to them which they have apologised but would not reduce the outstanding bill as requested. This hospital was bad 9 years ago, my daughter has also been an inpatient and nearly went under the knife for a unnecessary operation. Thank goodness we got her out. Last time I was in there I refused to use the shared toilet as it had blood on it. I was taken to someones private room to use their toilet and in the morning the toilet still had blood on the seat. Knox Private Hospital is a disaster. Don't use their emergency treatment centre. At night you can't identify the hospital and there is no approach signage on Mountain Highway either. They charge $300 for an emergency visit - $500 if your emergency is critical. If you wait, as we did, two and a half hours to be seen (after you've paid your $300!) you might be there till past 11:00PM. This is a disaster if you forgot to pay for your parking. We got locked out of the buildings and couldn't access the pay station (it is inside - who thought of this????) so after an exhausting and worrying evening in emergency, leaving just after 11:00PM we were unable to go home and were locked out in the cold. A staff member who was leaving the hospital kindly assisted us by ringing the security staff - otherwise I don't know what we would have done. Well done Knox Private Hospital - greed is good - it seems that your finances really depend on extracting parking fees from people unfortunate enough to still be there at 11:00PM. After all the waiting (without any updates on how long we might be waiting) the first thing the doctor told us was that they were going to transfer our patient to another hospital.
