Free little koala hospital to come and visit. We came after/during some heavy bushfire times, so there were koalas recovering from the bushfires that we weren't able to see. I believe they keep koalas here if they can no longer survive in the wild (excepting the recovering bushfire ones?), so the koalas have issues from chlamydia. There's a mini informational museum and a souvenir kiosk. Free parking and the hospital shares the grounds with a historical house that is actually the first thing you see.
What a magical stop on our road trip up the east coast. This place is not to be missed. Be sure to look up, there were trees filled with all the small baby koalas we could just watch for hours. It was incredible to look outside what's usually in front of you and see dozens of sweet sleeping koalas in the trees. Thanks to all the staff for all the good deeds and rehabilitations served here!

Really cool that the rehabilitate the koalas that are injured. My daughter wanted to adopt one and we did for $70 and were told that we would receive updates on Shelly Beach road Trish, that was her koala. Not one email all year and we reached out to confirm she was heart broken. We kept the 'certificate of adoption' on the fridge but now it's time to move on. I get they just want donations and that's important but a little effort would be heartfelt and go far. read more
Lovely visit We enjoyed our visit to the furry patients at Port Macquarie's Koala hospital. We spent about half an hour browsing through the displays and watching the koalas in the rehabilitation yards. Entry is free - but donations are gratefully accepted. This would be a great spot to bring the family!! read more

Beautiful experience, my family and friends (and me) came here to be greeted by the magnificent koalas, many pictures were taken. Upon entry we were greeted by the lovely staff and later found out that this experience is free! The hospital includes a gift shop, places to sit and eat and of course the cute koalas. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone wanting to see, learn or even ADOPT! A koala. read more

YOU MUST!!!! see this place if you are in Port Macquarie!!! This is a hospital for injured and sick Koalas so keep in mind the amount of Koalas at the hospital will depend on how many Koala's are recently requiring care, however there are about 6 which live at the hospital permanently as they are unable to care for themselves (they mostly have problems with their eyes). The staff are very knowledgable and are happy to share their knowledge with you, the Woman working their on the day I was there even shared this history of the place with us which I found really interesting but I don't feel like I should retell it here, ask one of the staff members when you're there. The Koalas themselves were of course adorable!!! I just wanted to give the little cuties a big cuddle. read more
