The hike isn't particularly strenuous (and it's mostly shaded by surrounding trees), but those visiting the area from sea level might feel the altitude - you're hiking from 2000 ft at the base to 3000 ft at the top. It's an unpaved path, and though you could walk it in sneakers, light hiking shoes will make your ascent and descent more comfortable. A wonderful place to take a leisurely walk, eat some tasty Bavarian food and enjoy a wondrous view.

The ground meat to make bratwurst in Bavaria is more homogeneous and smooth than that in the U.S.; I liked the texture and flavor.
