We went to Kolor-N-Kiln a few weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon. We had to wait a few minutes for a spot to open up, but were able to walk around and pick out pieces to paint in the meantime. Once we were seated, the staff came over to explain the process, help us choose colors, and get us all set up. We spent about 90 minutes there total. A week later, we came back to pick up our pottery and were surprised how well they turned out! It was a fun afternoon, the staff was so friendly and helpful, and we got some cool decorations out of it. I will definitely come back in the future to pick more things to paint! Went in today for a "mommy daughter" date with my lil one. Mind you, she's 16 months, never too early to let them explore, right? Well upon arriving, I got a super chill vibe. I walked through and looked to make sure that had some mugs for us to paint. There were 2 workers that greeted us will nice warm smiles and friendly compliments! I cant remember the young lady's name but I remember the gents name was Mr. Russell. They were so helpful. My daughter was in no way interested in painting after the first 5-10 mins. Mr. Russell must have sensed my frustrations so he came over and offered to walk her around the store! Liiiiiike, what a wonderful gesture. He played with her and 2 other children that had l came over to introduce themselves. As a single mom, that meant so much and I am so thankful for him wanting to help me out. They have a very nice selection of pieces for everyone from vases to figurines to larger serving plates, etc. I walked in, chose my piece/paints and got down to business. They set everything up for you and check in with you throughout your visit to make sure you have everything you need. The space is bright and cheerful...perfect for painting. I went here on a "date" with my 6 year old granddaughter. There are so many cute options for pieces to paint, and my granddaughter had a difficult time deciding. While all the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful, Reagan was exceptional. Noticing that my granddaughter was having a hard time deciding, she made several different suggestions and went out of her way to make sure that my granddaughter had something fun that she was excited to paint. Reagan was also helpful in choosing paint colors and explaining what may or may not work well together. While there weren't a lot of people when we first came in, it got very busy , and a birthday party with young girls came in. Though it got hectic and noisy, all the staff members were patient and pleasant. Great experience!! read more

Signed up for a class with someone who sounded like they came from the projects. First warning. Charged a whopping THIRTY FIVE DOLLARS for a canvas painting class for my 7 yr old and intentions to have my other children paint overly pricey , yet fun, clay figurines. Second warning. When we inadvertently missed the first class at 2p (not full) and called to join the second (not full) 6p class we were denied. When i asked to speak to a manager in regards to rolling over our $35 for the next Easter painting class, it was met by silence and the response of "my owner will call, or probably email, you in regards to that question." Never mind the fact that the ticket nor establishment had any preface of the "rules" in case the class was missed. Aaah. But i digress. Great black-owned business in Robinson mall! I walked in just to look around as I was researching a place to go for my friends and I for a girl's night! This place is huge! Big stand of pottery items to design to choose from, and lots of space to host. The owner Jeanine was there while I was in there and she was very attentive and patient with me. I had a lot of questions and she kindly answered all of them. I observed her with another party and a pretty rude and needy customer. She just took it all in stride and with a smile. I live in the Chicago area but I was visiting Pittsburgh. This place is like no other. The owner is very kind hearted. I was there for a few hours and even though she was getting the studio ready for an event she did not rush me. She even offered for me to come back the next day or take some paint home. Her employees helped me with suggestions when I got stuck. I wish there was a place like this in Chicago. Next time I visit Pittsburgh I'll definitely come back. read more
