I went on a Summer stroll to the heart of Chinatown in San Francisco before the possible price…read moreincrease on import goods from Asia starts this Friday .One place which you can shop is a hidden gem on Pacific street across the street of the Ping Yuen public housing projects called the New Asia Supermarket which was a former Dim Sum restaurant. It's now a San Francisco legacy business. Inside it feels like an imperial dining palace on top floor of the super market but the ground floor is stacked with drinks and food imported from different countries . You will find inside aisles of diversity of edible items from China, Japan, Vietnam, and other countries. This place gets raw like they have raw fish and chicken feet. They also offer raw meat for hot pot lovers like American Waygu and lamb shoulder from New Zealand. It's a pleasant surprise to see so much food available. You will also find duck eggs and different types of noodles. You have to plan a visit before August 1. Tariffs are on its way to the USA whether you like it or not starting this Friday . Deals are being cut with countries who are willing to negotiate. This Friday is a new month because it's the new TGIF= Tarrifs Gets Implemented Friday USA Tarrifs on August 1st are being "impose" on electronics, food and "clothes "some say we are in rough economic waters testing your own" ten toes"but you will be charged an arm and leg because some import prices this and last year has already "rose" with economic uncertainty that nobody can predict and nobody "knows" what direction it "goes" creating some anxiety and economic "woes" We will see prices rise on imports of electronics, food, and "clothes " if nobody is buying them the economy "slows"creating future economic" lows" so buy more made in America goods and services is what I "propose "so the economy " grows"

I've been a loyal customer here, but the service and quality have really gone downhill lately…read more Recently, I asked for 25 thicker beef slices to wrap mushrooms, but they prepared too much and pressured me to buy $74 worth of packages multiple workers also came up and tried to pressure me as well. I purchased two out of three packs. They also tend to over-pack orders--like giving me 3.5 lbs of lamb instead of the 3 lbs I asked for--only for the bottom of the package to be filled with scrap lamb and uneven cuts. I'm only speaking about the hot pot cuts. Everything else is OK. They do have a section where they're selling old restaurant supplies cause it is a old restaurant also good snack snacks in the back, but I definitely will not be back from my hot pot meat.

Easily top 3 favorite take out sushi spots…read more Not only is it extremely affordable, but the quality of the sushi and omakase options are superior. It's the most bang for your buck. You can't find prices like these anywhere Additionally, it's located in a high energy area in sf with a beautiful interior. Good people, good vibes.

A really good grab-and-go option when you don't want to commit to a waiter service sushi meal…read more Much higher quality that the Safeway sushi. Decent price too, for sushi. Miso Soup: Not quite an instant soup, since all the ingredients are fresh. A big ball of miso paste, some tofu bites and a whole lot of seaweed. Easier to transport dry and all you need to do is add some hot water at home. I really liked the taste, but felt they went a bit overboard on the seaweed. Mini Uni Don: A little bit of luxury at an affordable splurge. A nice gooey chunk of uni on top of a rice mound with some salmon roe nearby. The uni had that crisp briny sea taste. I actually think it was a mistake to add the salmon roe since it was fishier and kind of distracted with the pristine uni taste. Snow Crab California Roll: I'm normally not a fan of California rolls, since they often use that fake crab. Here they used real crab. Granted, snow crab is no premium Dungeness or Alaskan, but it's decent. Mixed with mayo and put in a sushi roll, it was actually quite nice. Blue Fin Tuna Roll: Simple and classic. High quality tuna, fresh ripe avocado and sushi rice. Pairs perfectly with wasabi and soy sauce. Salmon Avo Roll: Another classic, like the tuna roll. Though the blue fin tuna was more of a treat than salmon. Both good though.

I needed some chili oil asap and didn't want to wait on a delivery from Weee! or Yami plus have to…read moremeet a minimum spend threshold, so I explored the Chinatown supermarkets and ended up here after a couple other options didn't yield results. They have a lot of options in stock here, so I loaded up on spicy chili crisp, chiu chow style chili crisp oil, and some mala red oil chili sauce by the classic Lee Kum Kee brand. I also bought a bag of chewy 陈皮糖 chénpí táng that I saw next to the cash register while I was at it. Altogether after the 3% credit card fee, my total came to $18.08. Such a bargain, I will be back.

Luckily my other half happen to find a parking spot right in front of Golden Way. I had plans to go to the other store, I went last time but this works out perfect. The jumbo dried shrimp right in front of store caught my eyes. Stopped by real quick and got everything I needed, wish I could grab more but I had to limit myself since I didn't bring an extra luggagge. Golden Way, a great name, Lets go shop the Golden Way, reminds me of a store here at Chinatown, although very small cramped store it's very organized. Owner does a great job at storing everything and making use of all the spaces. Lots of Asian products here but no fresh produce or frozen products . Credit cards accepted as well, which is great! I ended up using my credit card for my entire purchase since usually cash is preferred in Chinatown. My co-worker wanted a specific soy sauce but no luck in finding it. What did I end up buying here at Golden Way, a LB of jumbo dried shrimp ( I think it was $24. or 25. lb) dried salted fish, dried scallops, long rice noods, pickled veggies, siracha, sauces, condensed milk, preserved eggs. Why on some of the products, Prices actually lower here. The only thing I wish Golden Way does is have prices on some of products, I had to ask how much?! The owner is nice & patient with me. I will be back again! I can't wait to use all those goodies, it made it safely back to Oahu.
