There's virtually zero local talent on here, unless they've broken out on the national stage. It's all international pop stars. They say that they're the number one hits station, but I guess that's just the iTunes list or something. The on-air "personalities" seem pretty vapid, and there's no cool programming, just the same commercials with the same songs breaking them up. Also, this station supports Chris Brown. I love when people are passionate about anything, particularly when it comes music. And all the…read moreparties involved with the Trinity University Radio Station at KRTU 91.7 FM are just that. From their involvement in JazzAlive, the Rooftop Concert Series to their awesome jazz radio show that runs from morning, noon and night they communicate why jazz is still a vibrant and relevant artform. Whenever I listen to their Morning Session to the Jazz in the Afternoon I picture dudes with milk crates of vinyl cramming them into a small Volvo Station Wagon and heading toward the radio station. The wealth of the knowledge of all dj's, who do all the shows is infinitesimal. The gamut runs from traditional, big band, zydeco, dixieland, avant-garde, acid jazz and all points between. Which includes standards by Coltrane, Parker, Porter, Thelonius Monk, Getz, Jobim etc. But for me the enjoyment comes from when they reach into the deep cuts, whenever they play music from artists that I've never heard of before. I typically keep a notepad next to me so I can jot down the names of a cool song or an artist. Above all what I appreciate is hearing the dj's provide a historical context for some songs or artists. Which provides me an invaluable insight into the mindset or an individual's vision. KRTU 91.7 FM is passionate about jazz, therefore it is successful in sharing that passion with the rest of the city. If you're tired of the other radio stations that play the same song a million times in one hour, this station is a refreshing escape from that. More importantly if you love hearing jazz in a live setting check out the various events they post, sponsor and support. John Coltrane composed " A Love Supreme ", to convey his love for jazz as an art form. KRTU seems to be an aural representation of that.

Since it's a college station, they don't have to play nearly as many ads as the other stations do, and they have much greater control of the kinds of tunes that they play. They play a variety of jazz throughout the day. Nothing ever too crazy. In fact, this is the only station we all can agree on at work. They don't play the same ol' stuff day in and day out. If you tune in on the weekends or late night, they often deviate from the jazz, and play some of the students' favorite songs. It's a great station to find out what kinds of jazz-related events are going on around town. Turn in, turn on!

He helps bring back many wonderful memories of the music, parties and dances of the 60's. He shares great tidbits of information about the bands, singers and what was really going on back in the day. Tuning in to any of his programs is a real treat. The monthly Gonzaba breakfasts, the superdances, and other events are well planned, well attended and lots of fun. On a scale of 1-10 Henry Pepsi Penas shows and events are a 15+ and then some.

They rock it 24/7, but I think it might be online, and available at 99.9 FM or 1540 AM on the radio waves. I haven't been able to tune it in on smart speakers, which is inconvenient, but they still rock the Flaco Jiminez and Selena harder than any other radio station on the planet. They're the whole jalapeno! You can call them up and make requests! Be sure to check out the Pancho Pistolas Show in the mornings. There's so much accordion squeezin' on this station! It's awesome.

Follow that with the Best of the Beatles, a Beatles themed show that's been on the air for 25+ years. Next, the Hillbilly Hayride, where Hank Harrison spins the country and western hits of yesteryear. Next, the Blues Hour, which always makes me depressed. KSYM is incredible. They're always giving away tickets and albums. You can actually win these call in contests, because not as many people have discovered KSYM as opposed to one of those Clear Channel stations. It's great that they let the students pick the music. You can get some weird songs, but at least they're always fresh, and hip. I love you KSYM!

Despite the fact that their historic studio was torn down the new location is museumesque with artifacts, trophies and historic photos in the lobby. I'm glad to see them pay respect to their legacy as the first Spanish-language tv station in the country. The studio itself is large and bright with a nice set featuring downtown buildings for a background. Kudos to the interior designers for the earth tones and bright color pallet. This place is a nice upgrade and the station continues to support the local community by featuring local organizations in a positive light and promoting our hard work.

Once I broke into it, it was hollow and I could see the flat pale piece of fish that was inside. The fish was of very poor quality. I don't think it was catfish, I really think it was Swai fish but didn't think to ask until after leaving. The skillet potatoes were salty. I didn't order any alcohol but I did have a watermelon lemonade which tastes like flavored sweet water. I didn't taste any lemonade. I changed it to strawberry lemonade and again no signs of lemonade, just flavored sweet water. I literally ate a few forks of grits and a small portion of the " catfish" I asked for a to go box because I didn't want to be rude and leave that much food on the table but I had no plans to eat it later. That was my order. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits. It came with 5 shrimp and barely and sauce, she had to request additional sauce. My plate was $24 and hers was $28. Our theory is the reason the shrimp cost more is because you can't fake shrimp but you can use a cheaper quality of fish and entomb it in a thick crust to hide its poor quality. She had the same complaint about the grits and also mentioned that the sauce only had a few pieces of sausage. She also ordered the strawberry lemonade and came to the same conclusion as I did regarding the lack of lemonade taste. Again, the vibe and the esthetics are there and if that's what you're looking for then Tryst is the restaurant for you. If you're looking for tasty high quality food, then you might wanna try somewhere else.
