Great experience with the Korhorn team over the years. I went in thinking that I was well schooled on investments as well as my overall financial picture, over the last two years I have received excellent support and help. I never had a financial planner before and was use to taking investment advise from my CPA, friends, and news media. I had no idea of how much I didn't know. From investments, to savings, to taxes, to insurance, to estate planning I have received some great advise and council. I work with Matt Hoke regularly but also interface with many others in the team. Everyone is helpful with outstanding communications. Recent examples including changing my auto insurance coverage, transferring an inherited IRA for my wife, and researching some REIT investment options. Recommendations and decisions are always made based on my needs and comfort. Never am I pressed to pick a particular product or make an immediate decision. We work collaboratively on decisions, and Matt always validates my understanding with decisions we make. My regular meetings with Matt allow me to discuss my overall financial plan and needs, assess changes I need to consider (e.g. establishing a trust to avoid probate for our heirs), and strategize investment plans and strategies. We discuss a multitude of topics in our meetings such as decision to purchase additional long term disability from my employer, 401K investment choices, and investment risk/risk tolerance. Last year my employer due to Obamacare, changed their heath care options. I discussed options, tax impacts, and coverage levels with Matt. My choice of a high deductible plan was made based on these discussions. I and more importantly, my wife is very pleased with these decisions. I would rate the service and advice that received from Mike at 5 stars, but the way that he suddenly and with NO NOTICE NOR ANY EXPLANATION dismissed us from the practice I am only giving it 1 star. We had complete confidence in Mike and were expecting to have a long term relationship with this company providing us with financial advice. Instead, out of nowhere, Mike told us at the end of one meeting that neither he nor anyone else at the firm could provide services to us. So just like that we were left with no financial advisor!! For that reason I would suggest not getting involved with this firm -- you never know if they are going to spontaneously decide they no longer want your business. read more

I've used Korhorn for 15 years and received excellent service... until now. This year, they wanted to more than double their fee, charging me their corporate rate. I'm NOT a corporation. In addition, they wanted to file extension because I was "late" getting my information to them. I get final reports from my investments at the end of March every year, and it has never been an issue before. In addition, they wanted to have a different accountant prepare my taxes, as opposed to the person I've used all these years. Also, they are no longer allowing in-person meetings. I was to submit my information and pick it up my returns when notified. Korhorn claim they've been undercharging for many years. As they are financial planners, this doesn't reflect well their abilities. And it should be clear, I understand raising fees, but not more than doubling them. They told me I wouldn't be able to find anyone to do it cheaper. I not only found a firm that charges a reasonable price -- they prepared my taxes without filing an extension. I'm disappointed in Korhorn, and I feel they could have handled this better. They've lost my business and I've lost my confidence in them. This is my experience and my opinion only. read more
