I felt comfortable talking with Dr. Matthews right away, and his calm and confident manner went a long way to help guide me to healing. His format seemed very standard, with leaving me alone in a room with the vibrating things on my back, adjusting me afterwards, and then asking me to do some physical therapy type stretches/activities in front of him that I would do at home. The hands-on adjustments were very brief and focused on the particular parts of the body where I was having issues (not the whole body). This seems to be extremely standard practice at most chiropractic offices I have visited. If I needed this type of care again, I would not hesitate to return. I don't know if this is still the case, but when I visited him, he was the only employee working, and I didn't initially realize that the person greeting me was the Dr. himself, as he didn't have a nametag on or identify himself. I did find this kind of awkward, in that it meant I had to talk insurance and scheduling and payments with my chiropractor. He may have an assistant by now, so this may have changed.

When I first came to see Dr Cohen over a month ago, I was in bad pain due to torn Rotator Cuff of…read moremy Left Shoulder. My first impression about Dr Cohen was he's the right doctor for me. No doubt, Dr Cohen not only very professional (with great help of Dr Altman and Lisa ) but also very involved with patient care. He told me I needed MRI for my Left shoulder which I called my Primary Care Physician (PCP) for order. When MRI result came back which was worse than just Torn Rotator Cuff, but also Bursitis & Arthritis...). Dr Cohen informed me and stated I needed a conservative Orthopedic Doctor (OD) while my PCP never called me in about MRI result to discuss treatment. When I called my PCP after a week for that & requested an OD, the Nurse Practitioner refused to refer me to that Specialist (except she wanted to prescribe steroid by mouth, muscle relaxant & physical therapy for me that I didn't agree). Dr Cohen kept pushing me to request to speak to my PCP herself, not the NP, and also report their mismanagement of my case to Humana. I was still reluctant. It came to the point that Dr Cohen almost wrote a letter himself to my PCP, then I realized that it was my job, not his, and I had to stand up for myself and I DID it. My PCP agreed to refer me to Dr Stone, a very good and conservative Orthopedic Doctor in the area per Dr Cohen's recommendation. Today 4/06/18, I came to see Dr Stone, he read my MRI disk, examined my Left shoulder with movements, gave me a Cortisone shot to my Left Shoulder, prescribed NSAID for pain and ordered Physical Therapy. During 5 weeks with Dr Cohen, I've received Ultra Sound, Muscle Stimulation (by Tens Unit, I believed) and "fixing", Heat pads, and Early Physical Therapy. My pain almost gone away so fast, just the stiffness & loss some Range of Motion that is expected because Recovery normally takes several months to over a year. Besides, I also got treated with Dr Altman who is very pleasant and professional. He gave me several advises on the right posture to eliminate neck and back pain and especially on my case that I've been doing everyday. Lisa at the desk (and also their helper) is super nice and so good. I am very happy with the service honestly. I recently found out that my Insurance Humana won't reimburse Dr Cohen because he's out of net work. I felt so bad because he only treated me for my copay every time I came (2-3 times /a week). He knew that but he still treated me so well & guided me thru succesfully. Now Dr Cohen knew that I am in good hand with coming treatment plan, he discharged me, but he still wants me to follow up in 4 weeks to see my progress. What a doctor!
