*dogs are not allowed in the KP Hole park, only on the outside of the park at the launch if they are getting onto/into a water vessel* Love KP Hole...very specifically the launch. It's a great way to enter the Rainbow River midway between the spring head and the lower springs. The swimming hole is great too. You can rent tubes, kayaks, SUPs, and several touring groups launch from KP.

Great summer weekend family activity. You can spend 4 hours on a floater down the river. The current is very slow, like a very lazy river. You are allowed to bring a cooler with food and drinks but IMPORTANT: nothing can be in disposable containers, no plastic bottles, capri suns, napkins or plastic plates or silverware. AND absolute no alcohol, they are very strict with these rules. Get there early, before 9:00 on weekends. Have fun!!

Kudos to the workers who did their best to accommodate our large group and got us parking spots! The place is very well kept. We didn't purchase anything extra, only the pass to have access to swim. Everyone inside over a certain age needs to purchase bracelet. They do check to make sure you have one. There was a lot of people and the swim area was crowded. The water was clear and my family enjoyed our time here. Make sure to bring a canopy or one of those pop up beach shades to stay out of the sun when you're not in the water. You also need something to sit on if the benches are being used. There are picnic benches located on the back side of the restrooms. I didn't see any vending machines, so bring snacks and drinks.

Went to KP hole to launch our own SUP boards and take a journey upstream to Rainbow River State Park. If you're going on a busy weekend, you might want to consider looking into VIP parking (must book a day before). The parking lot closest to the activities is smaller, we went the first weekend in June around 9 am and we're able to squeeze into the last inch of space in the parking lot. There was a second parking lot a bit further but we got lucky. It was $7 to launch our boards each. We decided against the shuttle bus because we paddled upstream 1.5 miles and floated back to KP. The current was kinda strong going upstream, but slow and steady and we made it! The reason we choose KP to launch our own boards vs. the state park was by recommendation. Apparently it's further to carry your boards, by a lot if you go to the state park. If you're planning a trip here just know they are serious about alcohol and check your coolers and water bottles with a vapor sensing flashlight thing. Personally I wish we could have brought in drinks to enjoy on the water, so if you find a way good for you!

    River access for swimmers.

I arrived here around 9am just to swim for about 30minutes and there was still plenty of parking and only one other group swimming! It was $7 to get in and the water was crystal clear with lots of fishies. The bathrooms were clean and there were lockers, outdoor and indoor showers. Would definitely come back to paddleboard or ride the ferry upstream and check out the rest of the springs!

This place is absolutely stunning! The water is refreshing, the scenery is amazing, and the staff is friendly. Our tour guide - Andrew - took me and my group out on glass bottom kayaks to tour the river. He was AMAZING! He knew his nature and was very friendly and social. MY ONLY COMPLAINTS are: the people and the time management. Maybe I got screwed, but we took off 30 mins after our start time. To add on, when we entered the walking section of the Spring, it felt as if we were there forever. If you are gonna come here, just rent a kayak and go solo. The tour group will only drag you behind. Absolutely stunning though!

Drift dive time! Great place with a fun opportunity to drift dive!

Great drift dive opportunity with a fantastic facility. We all enjoyed our trips up the river and what we saw under the water. Great facilities between dives made it a nice day!

Marion County, what in the world are you doing? Reserving spots in the park for private scuba companies to come in and you turn away 100s of families who've come here to tube, kayak, and paddle. How dare you! All out for money instead of your community. At least 30 spots available in the lot that could have been used for families who came to enjoy the park. What a bunch of sell outs!

Looking for outdoor fun, then KP HOLE at Rainbow Springs, is definitely the place you would like to visit. Highly recommend you getting there early, the park opens at 8am. Upon arrival, make sure you have all your bags ready in a waterproof or water resistant bag. All coolers and water bottles/thermos/ will be screened or tested for alcohol (alcohol is not allowed), law enforcement is present. Here's my recommendation, if you are not an early bird, you can go online and purchase a Vip park pass (for the selected date that you would like to go parking for 1 vehicle and 6 tubes on hold) At KP HOLE State Park, there is so many options when it comes to indoor activities You can also Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Board, there also have tem for rent is you do not open any of these personal water equipment. There's a daily user fee of $5.00 per person, for paddlers, picnicking and swimmers. Children under the ages of five are FREE! Tubing is highly recommended, tube rentals are available ($10. Per person which includes a shuttle ride at the end of the Blue Run of Dunnellon Park) know as the Tuber's exit. Approxiate four and a half hours of slow down stream tubing. Restrooms are available, as well as showers an rinse off stations. Please note, there are two lines ( cash online and credit only) Please note, prices are always subjected to changes, call ahead to make sure park will be open if you are planning a trip to Dunnellon(Marion County) for the springs. Especially with Covid19 restrictions, every City will be different in the State of Florida.

My friend and I decided to venture to the springs on a Friday morning. Though not feasible for many during the week when school is on and majority of people are working it is the best time to go. We had no issues finding parking and went right in to pay our parking fee and tubing: $20 total. If you go during summertime or the weekend then I highly advise you arrive early. The park is following the CDC guidelines and is restricting the amount of visitors that can go in. The day we went apparently, the park had only had 38 Tubers go so far. It was great ! At times , it was only my friend and I on the river. Very peaceful and calm. The river itself is very slow , 4 hours or a little less you will be floating. For some, this might be a plus but for other a negative . Just thought I'd throw it out there. My friend and I enjoyed our time floating away looking at the pretty houses and saying hi to the fellow tubers, swimmers and boats. During some parts of the river there are signs that guide you on where to continue tubing. Upon disembarking you wait on a nearby park for a shuttle to pick you and your float away. The wait time varies but don't despair, they will show up. Ps. There was a sign instructing you to tub away from a gator route . I didn't see any but just throwing it out there. Over all, highly recommend you float away.

This tubing experience is great....and quite extensive....I mean, it's loooonnnggg! Let me begin with parking..... If you turn onto 190 Ave Rd and you see parking has already started filling up in the lot immediately on your right, don't even bother going to the KP Hole park entrance or its parking across the street of it....just park in this overflow lot. There is a shuttle that will bring you to the park. Admission to the park, parking, tube rental, the shuttle to return from the water and tax is a flat $20. Their website is FULL of great information, so READ the deets and you'll be golden. Heed the rules on alcohol, they actually have a device they wave OVER the containers of liquid you bring and check to ensure they do not have alcohol...like a breathalyzer. Pretty cool technology! When they say 4 hours plus.....I'd plan on AT LEAST 4 hours (and this is just water time) because when I was there about a month ago, it was about 5 hours and there was a good amount of rain in the weeks prior. The ride is great, nice views, cool water on your bum, jump out of your tube and swim or even snorkel if you like....it's really nice. You CAN (and should) bring a cooler for food and drinks - you'll be on the water a long time so stay fueled and hydrated. When you get to the correct bridge (the BIG one) to exit off the river, you meet the bus or shuttle that will take you back to the overflow parking or the park entrance. If you parked at the overflow parking and want to change clothes - you will either have to walk back from the park entrance or change at the car. Outside. For a really long, but a FUN (and hot!) day on the water, this is a fun alternative to normal every day life. It can be relaxing (although I've tried napping on the water and haven't been able to)...

When we arrived, the parking attendant directed us to park across the street and said we could pay at the gate or the visitor center. When we returned to the gate it was closed and the attendant had stepped away with a sign saying to wait or go to the visitor center, so we assumed we could pay there. When we reached the buildings we were aggressively approached by a volunteer named Cyndi Stone who immediately accused us of breaking federal laws and sneaking in. We tried to explain the misunderstanding but she was not interested in listening. The interaction was embarrassing and unnecessarily confrontational. We were clearly tourists unfamiliar with the setup and would have happily paid the fee if approached respectfully. Instead, the situation ruined the visit and we chose to leave. On the way out a different person at the gate apologized, which we appreciated, but clearer instructions and a more respectful approach would make a big difference for visitors.

From the moment we arrived, the place had this incredible energy -- the kind of spot that instantly makes you think, I'd camp here in a heartbeat. The grounds were beautiful, the amenities looked top‑notch, and the whole atmosphere felt like a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. And the staff? Absolutely phenomenal. Genuine, warm, and the kind of people who clearly love what they do. I hesitated to wander into the camper store since we weren't staying overnight, but now I wish I had -- the whole place had that welcoming, "come on in" vibe. I wasn't sure if the campground and airboat tours were run separately, but everyone we met felt like part of one big, enthusiastic team. Before the tour, the staff came out and gave us a fascinating crash course on gators -- and then we got to hold Luke the gator. Let me tell you, once you hold Luke, something changes. You walk away feeling like you've bonded with a gator. I'm not kidding -- I still catch myself wondering how Luke is doing. Then came the airboat ride. We loaded up, the engine kicked in, and suddenly we were flying across the lake. Our tour guide Kyle was outstanding -- knowledgeable, funny, confident, and able to answer every question thrown his way. For my first airboat experience, I was genuinely impressed by how smooth and skilled he was behind the controls. We spotted plenty of baby gators and even a mama gator. Sure, I would've loved to see a few more, but for the price, the thrill, and the overall experience, it was absolutely worth it. We were on the 12:45 tour, so the time of day may have played a role -- but honestly, I left feeling thrilled. If I could change one thing, it would be knowing ahead of time that tips for the guides are cash‑only. We weren't carrying American cash, and Kyle definitely earned a tip. Adding that note to the FAQ or confirmation messages would be super helpful for future guests. All in all, this was an unforgettable experience -- exciting, educational, and genuinely fun from start to finish. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for something unique, thrilling, and full of heart.
