I have been listening to the Tom Barnard morning show for at least 20 years now. They have gone through tons of participants, I miss Gelfand and Terri, but the current crew is great too. Philly Dog is awesome and Brittany and Candice are great female additions. Dave Mordal is a fantastic comedian and super quick, another great add over the last few years. I have been listening to Mike Evan's morning entertainment report at 6:40 every morning before work for more than 18 years on my way to downtown Minneapolis and I love his reports. When my wife and I are both at home getting ready for work if we leave a little later, we always sing "Aloha, Friday!" with him as he closes out his Friday update. They usually throw in two or three classic rock songs in per hour and they make me happy. I like Chris Dimino from Atlanta (I am guessing his contract said he needs an extra hour of work from Cumulus, since was on from 9-10 AM a year ago, and now he is on from 6-7 AM now) and Michele Tafoya from the football sidelines in on for a couple hours a day a few times a week. She is very common sense and not really funny, but a nice addition to the show. A Twin Cities institution. read more

After 7 months of the "new" format it looks like Kurdziel is still "Drinking from the corporate Kool-Aid". He's been playing the same short playlist on repeat since April. It's almost to the point where it seems like more commercials are airing than music. There was a small ratings increase in June but since then the ratings have been slowly coming down. Even the newer listeners are getting fed up with the "new" corporate format and they are going back to their old stations or streaming apps. Hey James, is it your intent to hang on to this failed and flawed corporate format until you drive away all of the listeners? This idea of playing a short list of hits in order to capture the short commute audience has not worked in the 25 years since corporate radio stations implemented it! It is the only reason why people are switching to streaming apps! The "Morning Show" broadcast is nonexistent. Not that new host Steve Gorman is a bad host. He has great potential. The problem is with the executives who decided to play more music than talk. I reluctantly had to switch to a syndicated morning show. If I want to listen to music, I'll choose my own via Pandora. KQ never gave the new cast a chance to have a "true" morning show. Once a great morning show full of laughs now it is just embarrassingly horrible! The chemistry is gone thanks to Tommy. I have tried painfully to like the show again and it just is not there anymore. This station went from one of the best in the morning to one of the worst. Thank God for Sirius Radio where I can tune in to Howard Stern in the morning and actually get my laughs again. Even Dave Ryan on 101.3 is bearable compared to the KQ. Doesn't matter how many comedians you put on the show it's not going to change the chemistry when Tommy is in charge. This used to be THE radio station for adults of all ages. EVERYONE listened to the morning show every day. You had to - people talked about it all day long. Always a bunch of laughs - you'd see people laughing in their cars on the way to work. Well, folks - the fans created a monster, and his initials are T.B. He helped make the show what it used to be, but he almost single handedly ruined the show for everyone. But hey, at least he's happy now. I listened to the morning show faithfully from 1985 until around 2006 when Barnard finally became so pathetically self-absorbed it was simply too depressing to hang in and wait for a guest interview or some other diversion from his tireless rants. I recently tuned in for a couple of weeks after hearing Zepp was back on the morning show. Barnard hasn't changed, other than trying his best to sound a little more cheerful while he denigrates anyone or any group of people he suspects doesn't share his conservative point of view. Barnard still continuously states he isn't a racist regardless of whatever topic he's on which, most of the time is his thinly veiled promotion of Trump. Even the excellent Brian Zepp can't save this dumpster fire of a show. I'm obviously sick, misinformed, unstable, a "Liberal" (not), need psychological help, can't drive and need to get a life for not liking the reinvented "happy" Barnard's tired rants. Its just not fun anymore. I listened from day one when it was Tom and Dan. I listened for nearly 30 years and had a lot of fun along the way. I so wish Tom and his crew would have just retired when they were on top. Its painful to listen to him now.His laugh and enthusiasm that he tries to show just seems so phony to me now. Although KQRS advertises as being a "classic rock" station, they are getting further from it as time goes on. They are more like "streaming the eighties". They insistently play Guns & Roses. Gone are the days when you could commonly hear The Beatles, Stones and The Who, the true pecking order of classic rock. Yes some of the greats like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc. sneak through the programmer's otherwise bad taste, but what about Hendrix, Traffic, Cream.... And then there are the little teasers to keep you listening.... Does anyone really stay tuned just to hear what drummer lied to get his first gig? And now they have the "lost classic week end" with the DJ constantly making an issue out any rock history he can think of. Shut up and play the music and forget the kiddie tunes. read more

The best the TC has to offer. I've been listening to the morning show at work every day for the past 6 or 7 years. Fucking hilarious!!!! Tom Bernard is such a closet racist. I can't believe he gets away with half the stuff he says. Terri Train seems dumber than a rock (which actually makes her funny.) None of the music I like makes it on the radio, not even on Radio K or KFAI, so I just stick to good old classic rock. I enjoy Tom Petty, Steve Miller Band, Doobie Brothers, CCR and Rolling Stones, so it's easy for me to listen to KQ. Sometimes you may even catch a Clash song or two. The play list gets old after a while because even though they have an extensive library of music, they play a lot of the same songs every day. I'm not one for mainstream music, and I hate: New country, Rap (New R&B though it's not rhythym nor blues), NU Metal, Dance Pop, Indie, Emo, and whatever other garbage they play on the radio. So if I have to listen to FM, it's pretty much always KQ. read more

I have listened to kqrs since the 70s and it is a great station except the play pretty much the exact same music they played 30 years ago, anyway they have a contest called the $100 dollar per hour payroll. They called my name in December 2014 and it took until mid February to finally receive my $100. WOW that kind of slow, I am sure many others have had the same problem. read more
