Looking for a great deal? This just might be the place to find it. Look up the dates on their…read morewebsite for their next auction. Get there early, have a look around, and sit and enjoy the show while you wait for your items to come up for bid. Most prices seem to range from $5 to $50 -- of course there are things that go for more (or even less). It seems that a lot of people looking to resell go here so you know they are finding deals worth their time. If you are looking for newer items this place is not it -- it continues the tradition of an old fashioned country auction and does it well.

Located on the…read morebeautiful Jersey shore, we have auctions twice a month - the 2nd & last Saturday starting at 9:30AM. We are a great place to buy and sell! We have a little bit of everything - antiques, furniture, pottery, artwork, jewelry, toys, coins, glassware, linens, ephemera, military, musical instruments, sports memorabilia, vintage clothing, country items, paperwork, cameras and photography, kitsch, collectibles, rugs, and so on. You never know what you might find here! Photographs & detailed lists of items are updated on the week of the actual auction. There is food, parking and in the nice weather, we begin outside for the first hour. We also do on-site auctions. The word is out. We aren't the "Secret Auction" anymore. But we certainly are the place to be! This is where the dealers and people "in the know" come. We hope you will become part of our auction family. You definitely might find a treasure here. Call us if you need help selling your items. We will sell your car or boat too!

Maybe you've seen David, and his colleagues Suzanne Perrault and John Sollo on "Antiques Roadshow"…read more Perhaps you've been, as I am, impressed with his love for and his vast knowledge of the art pottery world. Down-to-earth, professional, funny and accessible, David Rago Auctions also handles many basic estate auctions as well as period, genre-specific and general auctions, and attending one at his elegant and comfortable location in lovely Lambertville is a terrific time for all. His catalogues are available online for viewing, online, absentee and phone bidding are all available, and the auction atmosphere is collegial, fun, brisk and free of pretense or hauteur, making even the most novice auctiongoer comfortable. I have bought Roseville pottery, Craftsman furniture and other smaller items here at auction and I have never had a bad experience. The buyer's premium is a tad steep at 20%, but prices at auctions here tend to be reasonable and the value of items tend to run a little under what you would pay in a retail environment, so it all evens out. I trust their assessment of items. They tend to specialize in 20th century or late 19th century furniture, glass, pottery and paintings, but can handle any and all genres with the same deep knowledge of the market and the artists that they bring to Lalique or period jewelry. A trip here is a really nice day out, with numerous places to eat and shop within walking distance in the chic, interesting riverside hamlet of Lambertville. If you can stand New Hope any more, it's just over the bridge in the center of town.

This auction house has changed significantly over the years. In the past, auctions could last all…read moreday, with auctioneers actively engaging the crowd to drive bids higher. In the box lot area, there was even an auctioneer--an older man with a cane--who might spend 45 minutes or more on a single box. There was also a small kitchen where you could buy freshly cooked meals, which added to the overall experience. Today, the approach is very different. I see little to no online advertising for their auctions compared to other auction houses, aside from their website and a limited group they notify directly. Auctions now move quickly: items start low and end fast, with minimal effort to increase the final price. While this format can benefit buyers, sellers should be cautious. With the current pace and lack of active bidding, it is unlikely that items will achieve strong selling prices.

Even if you don't buy anything, it's worth the trip. Blaine is full of great stories. There is always at least a few items that surprise. The auctioneers do their best to get the most for their consignors but there are still bargains to be had (if you have knowledge and a little vision!). Definitely part of the week for which I always look forward. The people who work there are all a delight. Usually about 4 auctions going on simultaneously so you have to stay on your toes! J.
