I am revising my review now that I have a contractor fixing my basement. I am frustrated because I hired this guy thinking that he knew what he was doing and it is clear that he did not. I have several walls that are not straight. We are talking off 1 1/2 inches from the top to the bottom of the wall. My ceiling cracked along the joints and seams after the drywall was put in place and the ceiling sprayed. My shower was put up with concrete board but nothing was floated into the seams to waterproof. My shower head doesn't have clips to hold it in place and is moving. The handle to my shower faucet was put on incorrectly. My flooring was not put in straight to the walls and was off over 2 inches. The drywall is a mess and not smooth. The list goes on and on. This contractor claims to know what he is doing but it is very obvious that he doesn't. When I said something to him regarding the job he was doing on my floor, he got really upset. Obscenities were being yelled and several pieces of my flooring were thrown into my walls making dents. On his way out, he threatened me not to post anything on the internet. I will not be intimidated by this contractor. People need to know that he is not a competent contractor. Project was scheduled to be done in 3 months and I asked him to leave at 5 months and one week and still not finished. He also asked me for money to get the remaining supplies before the payment was due. He said he was short on money...never a good sign.

Update 8/26/20 - after my original review I was contacted by Will Andersen, the owner of the…read morecompany. What a night and day difference from our initial impressions! Increasing my review from two stars to five, and that's only because six stars aren't an option! Will checked into what had happened with our original quote. Turns out the lack of follow up was due to a bad handoff of info when the estimator who we originally worked with was let go from the company, and our estimate had fallen between the cracks. Will sugarcoated nothing, and was straight with us on what had happened. Not only was he extremely apologetic for the situation, he was extremely determined to show us that our original experience is not what Andersen Contracting is about as a company. Will came out personally to rework the original quote, which we had in a matter of days. He was helpful in assisting us in planning the project, answered all of our questions, and went above and beyond in adjusting the quote as our scope of work evolved. Here's the kicker - over a period of weeks while it took us far, FAR too long to make our final selections and decisions, Will was nothing but patient and helpful... I'm embarrassed to admit he was far MORE patient with us than we were in our first dealings with his company. He checked in periodically to check on status and offer any assistance we might need, but was never pushy or pressuring. Great customer service, and I can't say enough good things about how well we've been treated. I'm pleased to report we've finally made our final selections and are ready to move forward with our project - and that we have now experienced the reasons why Andersen contracting has the stellar reviews they carry here and on other sites. I look forward to reporting back on the finished project and sharing pictures, and I know we're in good hands.

Here's my response to the attempt of justifications below: I've found other companies willing to complete the job for LESS THAN HALF as much, and they were willing to be transparent and provide their hourly rate and material costs separately. You can try to butter up the readers with details in your story, but this was a simple job requiring 2 holes from the attic, where the detectors would go. A 3rd hole leading outside from the attic since wiring was required from the attic to the garage and it did have to go from the exterior of the house (in a conduit). And last thing, from inside the garage into the room (basement) they're both on the same level and a common wall between the garage and this basement room is shared. You have my number, give me a call and we can discuss it more on the phone if you have any confusions about the job. But be honest with the people, you have been in business 20+ years? I don't know how, but do your best to be honest!
