This is a nice visitor center at Organ Pipe National Monument. I like the nature trail that they have that goes arounds the building. There are all sorts of desert plants on the short trail. Inside the visitor center are exhibits with information about the park, a topographic map, a gift shop and a place to stamp your national park passport book. A park ranger is on hand to help you with whatever you information you might have.
This visitor center is named in honor of Kris Eagle. He was a law enforcement park ranger from Michigan. Kiris was shot and killed while he and several U.S. Border Patrol Agents attempted to apprehended two armed illegal aliens. There is a memorial out front that you can read about him.
The Kris Eggle Visitor Center is open 7 days a week year-round. It is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. read more
