The dealers are unable to switch them over to a new vehicle so it necessitates a trip to either AAA or DMV. Well, the last two times I traded vehicles, I went to AAA and had them reassign my special service plates to my new vehicle. I went there recently to do the same thing. They told me this time that they were not able to do so and I would have to go to DMV. They told me they have never had that ability. The lady who had previously made the adjustment was sitting right there at the counter. I told her, "You did it last time." She just shook her head and said they have never done that. So, one more trip up the hill to DMV. Now as far as roadside assistance goes, forget it. I had a dead battery on my former vehicle a few months ago about 15 miles from home. I called AAA and after negotiating their automated phone tree for at least 6 minutes, I was referred to a website to enter my vehicle and member info. I could not talk to a person no matter how hard I tried. So, I went to the website. I was asked to enter my vehicle license number. I have special service plates as noted above. It kept telling me my license plate was invalid. I tried at least a half dozen times and received the same response. I just gave up. Luckily my wife was home that day and I had her come out and bring me our booster box to jump my truck. What happens if I'm stranded on the freeway somewhere a hundred miles from home? AAA road service is not what it used to be. I am going to look for alternatives.

I have a really complicated insurance portfolio. Have been insured with another carrier for 26…read moreyears, and finally decided I just couldn't take it anymore. Contacted Terry Clark because her office is local, and she sounded friendly on the phone. Terry had me bring over all my insurance stuff (a whole thick binder) and asked a lot of questions. My business is somewhat unusual, and very specialized. In addition to owning my own company, I also work full time for an employer and do some part time on the side. I own investment property, a home, vehicles, offsite equipment, etc. It took Terry almost 2 months to really go through my stuff and get everything figured out since I don't fit into a "cookie cutter" dropdown menu of any type. Terry came back with a quote for everything about $500 less per year than my current carrier. That alone wasn't the reason to switch. Terry discovered that my current company, whom has insured my family for so many years, in fact, didn't have things correct and I was exposed to some serious liability in certain circumstances! Terry discovered holes in my coverage and inadequate business coverage while over-insured in other areas. After literally another month of back-and-forth for info and lengthy explanations, Terry got me covered, and covered correctly. It isn't the overall savings that makes this worthwhile, it's the personal attention to your situation that makes this a worthwhile switch. If you have a problem, just email or call Terry and she usually gets back to you within a few days with an answer. If you have to make changes to your policy, she can do that on the fly. Best of all, the insurance bill is now the same every month. We can actually budget!! Previous company had oddball billing cycles and with staggered policy renewals, the monthly bill was all over the place, never the same amount. Sometimes, a "balloon bill" would show up and we'd be eating boxed mac & cheese for a month or more until we could recover. If you still live with mom and only have 1 car to insure, Farmers may not be your best bet. But if you own property or other real assets and want to be covered, Terry will go the extra mile to make sure you aren't exposed to excess liability. You'll sleep a lot easier at night, honest.

His service was marginal at best taking 2-3 days to return messages if at all, not giving complete answers, etc. Since we have lived in Amador County for over 35 years, we decided to ask Anne to be our agent. What a difference. She asked me to make an appt. to see her. I thought, "Uh-oh, here comes the hard sell on needing more insurance." Well, no. Anne went through all our policies, homeowner's and vehicle, and told us we were overpaying for insurance. She made a few adjustments and has saved us approximately $1,100 a year. When I call or email, if I don't get an immediate response, I will soon after. Her staff is top notch and service is what her office is all about. I only wish we had switched agents sooner.
