Drive slowly over the few areas that are not smooth. We visit this lighthouse several times a month. Great ocean watching! Fabulous whale watching (when in season)! And over flight of aircraft too! Take some time and visit this point, known as Ninini point, and so is became the name of the lighthouse. While you are there, take your trash out. Like all beautiful places of Kaua'i, leave no trace of your visit. Mahalo!

The road gets pretty uneven at the end. You won't have to walk far. The lighthouse itself isn't large or fancy but the views that surround it are stunning and make it all worth the drive to find it. The volcanic rocks and cliffs against the ocean waves crashing in just leaves you in awe.

Service at Gaylord's was excellent, and our server checked in frequently and offered good recommendations when asked. Be sure to check out the shops upstairs for souvenirs.

08/22/2017 Wailua River & Heritage Trail Overlook. This overlook is directly across the street from…read morethe Opaeka'a Falls rest stop. The Wailua River is 20 miles long and is Hawaii's third longest river. It's also the only navigable river in the Hawaiian islands. It's popular for boat tours, kayaking and water skiing. Numerous points of interest include; Huleia National Wildlife Refuge, Kamokila Hawaiian Village, Uluwehi Falls otherwise know as Secret Falls, Opaeka'a Falls and Fern Grotto known as Ma`ama`akualono. Hikinaakala at Hauola is part of the Wailua Complex of Heiaus. Holoholoku and the Royal Birthing Stones is one of Hawaii's most sacred sites. Nounou Mountain or Sleeping giant has three mountain hiking trails. Wai`ale`ale mountain peak is the highest point on the island at 5,243 feet.

Nice quality helicopter, roomy, with clean windows. They take care of you, safety, seating, strapping in, they cover it. We did the Grand Skies Island Tour. I liked how we dealt directly with the company and received a superior tour. It lasted about an hour. Don't forget to tip your pilot. Considering the prices of other tours, this is a better value and the pilot deserves it.

We did the Jurassic Falls tour and this JP fan definitely shed a tear as we flew through the valley with the theme music playing in our headset, rounding a corner to see that gorgeous waterfall. Evan, our pilot, had us feeling safe the whole time. He was informative, funny, and took great pictures at the falls. Highly recommend!
