Hopefully, something can push them for corrections because incompetence on tax prep like this can significantly and negatively impact personal and business lives. We submitted information packages for business and personal tax prep services 6 weeks before the business filing deadline and 11 before the personal filing deadline. There was poor communication from the start. And I'm far from a CPA, but I found significant mistakes in the draft tax preparation when we finally got them, including transcription/typo problems and even information missing in returns that were provided in the documentation sent in our submittal package. Even after sending back questions and notes for corrections, subsequent drafts had entire forms and sections missing (30 pages missing) and additional major mistakes. Slow and poor follow-up pushed us up against the filing deadlines for business and personal returns and eventual extension filing. After many follow-ups and questions on the issues, Jake Roggenkamp quit less than a week before the filing deadline. After failing to respond to or correct errors, his excuse for quitting was, "This is clearly not a good fit." In the long run, it was clearly good for us that he quit. The follow-up firm we hired during the extension period found additional major mistakes. A follow-up with a fellow business owner that referred me to this firm told me that he had also moved on from Roggenkamp and Associates because they had failed to file their quarterly payroll reports and send in their payroll withholding! Mistakes like these are costly in penalties, interest, and reputation! But this review serves as a WARNING to others considering Roggenkamp & Associates. As of this year (2023), I strongly suggest looking for other professionals for accounting or tax services.

Jake received my business information in February and the taxes were filed in October on the deadline day for extensions. When I asked to see them before they were e-filed, I was told they had already been sent. Later I discovered they were not correct. All of the incorrect data flowed into our personal returns, so they were incorrect. Since we had property in Iowa, the Iowa return was filed 6 months late. He refused to return calls and did not answer questions about estimated taxes. All of this resulted in about $45,000 in fines plus the costs of having everything redone. There is no excuse for this level of incompetence from a CPA. By all means, filed your information with Minnesota Board of Accountancy.

Very hard to communicate with. Lots of voice mails and unanswered calls. When we were able to contact them the answer was always the same-" your taxes are being worked on" Very frustrating to deal with. I do not recommend!

We submitted our taxes early and called them every so often to check up on their progress. However after the first call they would never and I mean NEVER pick up the phone. You could leave messages for them but what is the point when they don't call you back. I left message after message and no one even tried to get in touch with me. One day I had enough of them not communicating, so I went to their office and of course it was locked. So I sat and waited for 45 minutes (keep in mind they were going to Target for paper - Target is like 2 minutes away from their office) before someone who worked there to let us in. When they finally did there was about a line of 10 plus people wanting to have some sort of contact with them. If you don't want your taxes done or anyone to talk to you then these folks are the people for you. I like to think of myself as a reasonable person, but I just had to warn other people of their behavior.

I have been doing business with them for the last 10 years and they are very consistent and reliable. Also they're very thorough. Easy parking and a very responsive front desk. Usually you get to interview at the beginning and then things are done by mail.
