This is the worst law firm. If I could give them ZERO stars I would have. I had a consultation with an associate who is supposed to be well versed on the law. I paid $150.00 for that bad information. I was told that they could help me with my divorce and that they would do an interim distribution. This was supposed to be a way for me to get funds from my spouse to help pay for and continue the process. What a BIG LIE that was. I paid $3,500.00 to start this process. From that point on they did nothing but bill me for things that I don't even have a clear understanding on. I only had 1 strategy meeting via teams and 2 or 3 emails which including them asking for my financials. The Lawyer talked down towards me, was super rude and overtalked me. He was loud and argumentative. The Lawyer admitted that I was told the wrong term and that Evon should not have told me that. I told him that that was misleading, and I feel like you guys just took my money with no results. They sent billing information that did not contain detailed information. He kept saying this little bit of money you paid is nothing. WELL, that money was something to me. I do not have money to just be throwing away. I work hard for my money, and it may be a little bit of money to them, but it's a lot for me. And after taking my money he said that he would not be representing me or signing any of my documents and that I could pay him by the hour to help me complete paperwork, but that I would be driving the BUS myself. What a disappointment. I paid to retain them and to be represented and now they say that they cannot represent me. They were supposed to make this process easier not harder. They have added more stress to an already stressful situation. Divorce is not easy. I wish that I had never wasted my money or time with this law firm. Now I have to start fresh with someone else. And now come up with more money. I could have used that money on a real law firm. They need to better train their associates and STOP ripping people off. Then to add insult to injury, they want me to pay more money into a trust to keep my balance at a certain amount to continue to bill me for services that are not helping me, but also the fact that you say that you can't represent, but I need to pay more money. Everything was great when I paid for consultations. Communication from the attorney, Sheneshia Fitts, was extremely prompt. Then I paid the retainer and receiving responses was not nearly with the same speed as it was before I paid the retainer. I asked for a refund of my retainer which they promptly returned, but charged $700 for services which I have no proof they even did. They submitted an invoice with the work done, but who knows if it was true. I went with Carrie Tortora and she is fantastic! Mary always responds to these reviews and tells people to contact them. No need to respond, wont be contacting or discussing. If you have a time sensitive case, wouldn't go near this firm. read more

We needed an attorney for my daughter's divorce. This law firm gleefully took a $7,500 deposit and then whittled away at it with excessive e-mails and texts to the opposing attorney with no results. Here we are 7 months later and we have absolutely nothing to show for the efforts. They are extremely unprofessional and are very poor at communication. Beware of asking any questions because they will overcharge you for the email, ignore you, and then scream at you if you have the nerve to question the cost. We now have to find someone else. Absolutely awful experience - start to finish. A friend of mine recommended this firm to me based on her experience with a particular attorney who left due to personal reasons which left me stuck with a new attorney who I was assured was just as amazing, Matt Jackson. Matt Jackson never had any actual advice of any substance, never fought for any of my needs, made countless mistakes from the gender to the date of birth of my child REPEATEDLY after correction and to top it off submitted to every request of the opposing party without offering me any advice or counter strategy. After 5K and nothing to show for it besides my own personal research which I was billed for him to "double check." and not even so much as discussing a case strategy I complained. After that conversation with Mary and Wendy I felt something would change as they assured me that my experience thus far was not the norm at Triangle Divorce Lawyers and that after review Matt would have some additional training etc - I was given yet another a new attorney Sarah Hink. Although much more polite, personable and had plenty of "interest" in my case she began with making some of same mistakes in her very first email interactions with the opposing party. (My sons age.) THE BASICS ... to witness her (Sarah) be corrected by the opposing party felt very amateur, unprofessional and unprepared and the email exchange ultimately lead the opposing party to question her (Sarah) competence which was extremely embarrassing, and created a feeling of hopelessness the second time around to say the very least. 7K+ later and still no case strategy not even interrogatories and left still feeling "bullied" - I decided to stop allowing Triangle Divorce Lawyers to continue amassing debt without any sign of improvement or competency and ultimately feel as if they preyed on me and my emotional distress in my time of need and could never, would never in good consciousness recommend anyone not even an enemy if I had one to seek representation here. Should have listened to the other reviewers. Similar experience to Mike Parent, Laura and Derrik. Lack of response, charged for actions that don't actually occur, failing to contact witnesses or subpoena in ample time (not even in enough time for the mandated time they could refuse the subpoena to my understanding), having to correct & repeat information, prolonging of case, accidental double charges... on and on. Be ware!!!!! My experience with this attorney office was horrible. I spoke with their Director of Client Services and she told me she understood my situation and that her office could help me. That was just to get my money; money I don't have to just throw away. They got nothing accomplished for me except taking my money. I can not recommend Tamara and Mary enough. We have been with Tamara for awhile and it was a great move for Mary to bring her on board. She has always been very upfront and hardworking in regard to are specific case. I did note that other one star reviews noted some individuals that use to work at the firm but are no longer there. That should tell you that Mary desires quality for her law firm. Although the firm is located near downtown Raleigh it can be difficult to get to with all the traffic. But what it lacks in getting to, the location has a certain charm. In other words the firm is located within what seems to be an historic house and brings a southern charm to it. After working with a top notch firm for 2years, I decided to try a fresh perspective. HUGE MISTAKE!! David will take a very passive approach, procrastinate and tell you he's very busy with other cases. He seems to lack basic family law knowledge and will charge you many extra hours to do research on basic law. He appeared very unorganized and scrambled at the last minute before a hearing of which he appeared in court unprepared for. He had no opening or closing statement. Didn't realize I was the plaintiff, not the defendant. He forgot the evidence. He didn't request my only witness. He didn't cross examine. He just let the other side make me look bad.
