Campus Color
(4 reviews)
Opposite the UniSA City West Campus is Campus Colour - a godsend for all art, design and…read morearchitecture students. UniSA used to have it's own dedicated special printing store, but it was a little more expensive than Campus Colour (from what I remember). You can still do your own printing and photocopying at UniSA but if you're crap at operating a photocopier or want something special (larger size, special paper, lamination or wire binding) Campus Colour is just across the road, near the Yiros Shop and STA Travel. I fit into the first category - crap at operating a photocopier. i can handle as much as two pages, single-sided and from there I'm all at sea. Paper, ink and black splotches flying everywhere. Staples in foreheads. Whenever I need a large document (9 copies of a 28 page doc for example!) printed, Campus Colour sort me out. The prices are competitive, and they have become accustomed to dealing with the special requests from come from design and architecture students (AO copies of plans, that kind of stuff). The service is very comprehensive and efficient, but a little on the odd side sometimes. The proprietors - John and John - can be a little patronising at times and they definitely have their own system which you'd best not interrupt. They can be a touch on the old-fashioned side - when John addresses me with 'What can I do for you, young lady?" I wonder if that means I can call him "old man". That said, they are also old-fashioned about cutting you a good deal if you're a regular.

Or are you looking for some random window stickers or oversized posters and banners? John and John are your answer to cheap, good quality, spectacular service printers in Adelaide CBD. They aren't the cheapest in town but they are cheaper than Officeworks and pretty close to the large print run manufacturers. They are also happy to give you advice on how to reduce the cost of your print run - no one is crazy enough to do this except these down to earth guys who will do anything for your business. You don't even have to pretend to have "forgotten your student card," to get good prices here! They are a small business but produce beautiful quality materials and posters if you are looking for something fairly run of the mill (pun intended).

As well as the large selection of camera accessories, film, frames, tripods and the like, they have a truly impressive array of second hand and new cameras to ogle. Oh those old school medium format cameras! Gorgeous. They've also got some lomo cameras and film which I was stoked to see last time I dropped past. They have a full service colour printing lab as well, offering good old fashioned film processing in 1 hour- handy for those of us who prefer a little analogue action. The staff are always friendly and helpful, happy to give out advice to novices like myself. It feels like an old school, specialist camera place where they know the ins and outs of everything from repairs to printing and love what they do. Cheers to that!

As a result…read moreI've had a bit of printing done here and found them reasonable for anything up to A4 size, but not a place to get prints of any larger scale done. They are moderately pricey and I have had the occasional photo not printed to the standard it should have been, but all in all they're not too bad. As my fellow yelpers have pointed out the staff are SUPER knowledgable and REALLY friendly. Customer service win! They maintain a good selection of old school film cameras... great for the hipster within - oh, and my mum the ultimate accidental hipster.
Abbott Print, Sign & Design
One thing the online printing and stationary market doesn't have besides a physical presence is…read morepersonalised service. And this is exactly what Abbott's have and been doing for many years and what the majority of their repeat business is based upon. Located on the prominant corner of Port and South Rds, it stands without having a car or truck plough into it daily, which is a good thing too. Off the shelf they sell all the necessary items for any home / office such as staplers, sticky tape, copy paper, folders, diaries, paper clips, rubber bands and heaps more. They have a photocopier available for anyone off the street to use and offer a copy service for higher volumes of work. The services they offer are varied from someone popping in to get a rough quote for business cards to printing a complete range of streamlined stationary for a home business or major company. Also, there is a inhouse design team to assist with composing your business details to fit the stationary. On the other hand there is an online self help printing service, whereby you don't need to set foot inside the premises, as it's all ready for you to fill in the gaps. The service is quick with a short turn around time from printing to delivery.

They offer great ideas to improve my print jobs, they are cost competitive yet still give that added level of service. Cove Print
I have been getting flyers, printing and laminating done here for many years. The reason I keep…read morecoming back is the friendly service and the price. Cove Print is much cheaper than places such as copies and more. It is a family run business, headed up by the patriarch, Alan. His daughter, Kelly is also a whiz at putting together art work and designing logos, flyers and business cards, all at a very reasonable price. They can do anything here from laminating to putting together journals and manuals. Everything is done well and quickly, often while you wait. The family feel extends to the dog who is often seen roaming around the office. This is an affordable one stop shop for all your small business and home printing requirements.

However they have a great range of high-quality card paper, ranging from prints to marbled patterns. The prices range from $1 per sheet to 30 cents per sheet, which is a standard price (though I will continue to baulk at it.) The offer professional printing and have a huge workroom out the back, and offer average prices for large printing jobs. The store doesn't have a particularly friendly or welcoming atmosphere, and instead comes across as very professional, which is perhaps the aim. I don't find it very appealing however.

Before awarding this job I searched and asked for quotes from many printers online. So many websites lure you with an amazing deal but only to find out it didn't include one thing or another. Eventually, prices climbed out of reach. Not so with Peter's company. I got exactly what his site advertised which was a great deal. This company deserves more business and they will have all our business from now on. The ordering process was smooth and easy and I was pleasantly shocked to see my order completed and delivered in just 3 days! I have dealt with printers for many years and each time it has been a hit or miss. If you are a business owner, do yourself a huge favor and give Peter a call for your next printing job.
I discovered this printer when I was a student magazine editor at Flinders and found them…read moreremarkably cheap for the quality they provide. The Printing Hub are located on Magill Road down and across from the Maid, and I found they had not only low prices but a very fast turnaround from ordering to pick up. Our contact there was a little wacky and tended to take a while to reply to emails, which was a bummer, but considering I got quotes all over town and this was by far the cheapest, I couldn't complain about email delays. The paper and ink quality was always top notch and the accuracy was pretty spot on. I'd recommend these printers to anyone.
Officeworks on Portrush Road at Trinity Gardens is my stand out Officeworks store. Sure, many of…read moretheir products are similar to those on offer at all Officeworks, nevertheless this one is my fave - and its actually not even the closest one for me. What makes this one stand apart from all the others? I think the printing service at Trinity Gardens is first class. They are always prompt and will let you know if there's a delay in getting your job done. I also think the staff here are super helpful. There is one older man in particular who has helped me in the past and I often see him helping other customers take oversized items out to their cars. It may sound pretty obvious but not all shops offer this really basic service.
Officeworks used to be a much better place for designers like myself to get some supplies, but…read moretheir range of quality pens and technical paper seems to be dwindling. They do still stock some copic markers and staedtler items so not all is lost. They also have a pretty easy to use photo printing service which I really should use more because printed photos are cool. Their ink prices for printers is still exorbitant and I'd rather just go to the library and print or buy ink off the internet, and they sell really crap knock of designer furniture like plastic versions of classic Eames chairs so that sucks. It would be great if Officeworks had a design section with rolls of paper, bleed proof paper and Copic marker refills for pen and paper nerds like me, but like another reviewer said, they are the "bunnings of stationery" and like bunnings, woolworths etc, they only stock what is economical for them, not necessarily the best products for the end user.
