The Looft's complex has all this. This is where I stopped for gasoline on the way from Ames to Spirit Lake (via my hometown of Estherville). Swea City was basically my last chance before running out and I certainly would have not made it to Armstrong. I also had a chance to buy some snacks in the convenience store and briefly watch the regular morning meeting of locals over coffee.

BUT the points were still deducted from my Earnify app. So you literally stole from me. whats worse is that when I had the audacity to question it, the one clerk got rude with me and told me to "get my food or leave" and that "Earnify is BP and we are the lakeland." The other clerk virtually threw my change at me and I heard them talking trash as I walked out. Your store has opted into the program by participating in the points system via fuel purchases. When you opt into something, you are agreeing to honor it! I am a regular customer who comes in several times a week. I have never been treated so rudely by your staff until now. And the only reason I am giving 4 start instead of less is because I know this is not the typical experience here. Usually my experience is great.

Kwik Trip is a favorite stop whenever traveling. They seem to be a step above most other…read moregas/convenience stores. This location is a smaller set-up but still provides the offerings that most of the locations provide. Plenty of pumps and parking. The store, for the most part is clean. One stop approach is great. Need some basic groceries along with some hot food to grab and go? This is the place. Bathrooms are usually well cared for and a plus is that the stalls are private with no gaps for audience participation as your do your thing. Service was nice and didn't fail to assume that they would see me next time!

One of his main competitors was Bunny Houseman, of which his sons continue the Riverside Sinclair tradition 65 years later. I sometimes think of what might have happened if I decided to take over my Father's business as well. I don't think I could have done as well. Instead, I ended up working for Big Oil in other ways. Those brief thoughts only really come to mind when I stop at Riverside Sinclair to gas up on my way through town. The main Station pretty much looks the same and still features a full service garage. Houseman Oil has also expanded up Central Avenue and I hear into one or more convenience stores. It's an impressive operation. The only lingering question that I have is why gasoline prices are exactly the same no matter where in Estherville or Spirit Lake I go? Is this one big gasoline pricing zone? And while I'm on this subject, it is kind of interesting that because of the ethanol content (and subsidy), premium is cheaper than regular in Iowa.
