As we were past labor day and big game, we almost had the place to ourselves. We usually show up with a Subway sandwich and order a beer. This time around, we ordered one of their delicious Pizzas and washed that down with a Coco Stout for her and a Doppel Bock for me. We added an order of peanuts and a 6-pack of the Doppel Bock for me to carry home all the way to Nevada. That supplemented the Smoked Red and Octoberfest beer back in the fridge at the Lake Cabin.

Every Iowan beerfest I attend, I am always in search of the West O Beer tent. We popped in on our final night of vacation for a pint and some pretzel bites as the kiddos played out on their patio. Pricing was on par. Parking was a bit cramped, you can tell when the parking lot is full that the inside will be, too. You need to order at the bar. (They are closed on Monday, FYI.) The pretzel bites were good, mustard definitely had some kick. My West O Cocoa was the perfect end to vacation. I'll pop in this brewery again when we are in town!

I discovered this store when driving by and saw a good price on Chuck Roasts on their electronic billboard. We stopped and I bought a bunch of meat to freeze. Very good beef and pork so far. They have a in-store bakery, deli, small produce department, and a good selection of merchandise. Some prices are high, but like I said I come to stock up on sale items. Have been back several times. Friendly and helpful employees.

We were seated fairly quickly considering the circumstances. They do not have menus. Waitress just said what the offerings were. Our table got a variety of nachos. Serving size is huge! Easily shareable. Market had some basic convenience and food items available for purchase. I think menus would be a nice touch even with limited items or at the very minimum a menu at the table, one of those smaller, stand up types that some restaurants always have at the table.

BUT the points were still deducted from my Earnify app. So you literally stole from me. whats worse is that when I had the audacity to question it, the one clerk got rude with me and told me to "get my food or leave" and that "Earnify is BP and we are the lakeland." The other clerk virtually threw my change at me and I heard them talking trash as I walked out. Your store has opted into the program by participating in the points system via fuel purchases. When you opt into something, you are agreeing to honor it! I am a regular customer who comes in several times a week. I have never been treated so rudely by your staff until now. And the only reason I am giving 4 start instead of less is because I know this is not the typical experience here. Usually my experience is great.

However, just across the street, we noticed that Wilder Thymes Natural Foods had opened right next to Art on 16th. Running this kind of successful business is a challenge as summer resort folks go home in the Fall, utilities costs are higher in the Winter, and there's competition from grocery stores who are increasingly selling organic goods and local Farmers Markets. Wilder Thymes Natural Foods offers bulk items, snacks, drinks, spices, cooking ingredients, frozen, dairy & gluten-free foods, personal care items and natural cleaning supplies. There's also a kitchen that features ready-made sandwiches to go, baked goods and take n bake entrees. And from their our own farm comes a wide selection of fruits, vegetables & herbs when in season.
