People deal with loss in different ways and one way that I have dealt with a loss recently was to get some ink to remember. I had no intention to deliberately come here, but as I was walking down the street I felt this is where I was going to do it. It was a rainy day and I walked up to the place and looked up and thought, yeah, this is the appropriate place to do so. I had no clue if they took walk-ins, or were able at that moment to do my tattoo. I just felt numb at that point and walked in here. I went to the counter and was asked what they could do for me. I showed them what I wanted tattooed on me and where I would like it to be. After making sure what I wanted would be alright when it would be stenciled they made sure the sizing was right for the area. While they were doing all that I filled out the tattoo waiver form to have this done and just waited until it was time. It had been a few years since I last got a tattoo and was a bit anxious with it all, but the artist that did my tattoo, Jeff, put me at ease. Because of me being a walk in and it being a simple tattoo, I think I took up maybe twenty minutes total of their time. The tattooing itself did not bother me one bit. When Jeff was all finished and he cleaned it a bit, he had me look at it to see how it looked. I went to the mirror, looked at it, chocked up a bit and told him it was perfect. He asked if I was alright and I told him yeah, it just means a lot to me that he was able to get the handwriting perfect. See, I had a bit of a breakdown knowing that my Mom was not going to be signing anymore of my birthday cards, so I had her handwriting tattooed on me from a previous birthday card to have forever. Jeff saw the sadness in my eyes and asked if I needed a hug. I told him I was fine, just having a moment. He then asked again if I needed a hug and I told him I appreciate the gesture, but I am fine. After he was done and had me set up to go, he took some of his time to talk to me about how loss is a tough thing to deal with and that he knows what I was going through. Some people just have the right compassion to be doing their line of work. Jeff exemplifies was a good person is and kind and caring being. I totally appreciate what they were able to accomplish for me, anytime I miss Mom I give a rub of that tattoo am reminded that I am loved. Phew, sorry to be a downer there, but it was an emotional day, and I needed to hear some kind words at that particular moment. I believe I was brought here for a reason. I would definitely come back and ask for Jeff to do my next tattoo. Also, not bad for this being my 2,700th review. Glad it could be this place. read more

My boyfriend wanted to get a geometric half sleeve and Jess Scutella took the time to make sure it was 100% perfect. Jess has a passion for art and learning and it shows in his tattoos. Came here a while back as a walk in and was accepted right away! It was an off time to go in so I was the only person there. I had a photo of the tattoo I wanted to get and the guy was very helpful with getting a mock up of It and changing the angle of where I wanted to get a tattoo. The guy who tattooed my was very friendly and talked to me but not too much that It was annoying. He also let two of my friends come with me since I was going to be there for a bit. Overall took about 45 mins to complete and the tattoo still looks beautiful and healed nicely! For my third visit to Kyklops, specifically for a piercing, I asked for a Daith piercing. As per usual, Daria helped me learn about the different types of earrings and talked me through the process. I also wanted to ask about jewelry for other piercings, and we had a long conversation about those options. I so appreciate Daria's piercing knowledge. I never want to go to anyone else for a piercing. Also, I love my Daith piercing. Between my double helix and conch, I have to say that the Daith has been the least painful. Since it's inside the ear, it never catches on my hair and I don't have to fear violent hugs that come with an accidental head bang. read more

Such a fun place to get tattooed Everyone there all have great personalities and are extremely easy to work with. I went there for a cover up with erin and she knocked it out the park. Her hand is ridiculously light. I mean not to say it doesn't hurt but that light hand makes its super easy to sit plus like i said they all got great personalities so that goes along way it makes for a good experience all around. Got the worst tattoo I have from here. Seriously the guy was on drugs or lies about having experience tattooing. His name is Emil. I don't know why I even tried this place out, worst decision. Hard part about it all is that the tattoo actually had meaning behind it and it was horribly done. I mean I think I could have done a better job doing a tattoo than this guy. He needs fired, or needs to be an apprentice for a very long time. Don't go here, or at least don't get tattooed by him! I'll attach a photo of mess he put on my arm. Short review: Fiancé and I went in for matching tattoos. Unfortunately they are shaded completely different. All staff was nice but got some major rudeness from my artist near the end. Was charged more than what I think we should have, and then got conflicting comments on whether we should tip or not when their credit card service didn't allow us to pay tattoo price on one card and then tip on another. Long review: My fiancé and I went in today to get matching tattoos. Feathers on the back of our calves (bird of a feather flock together)! The atmosphere in this shop is wonderful. It is really clean and trendy looking. We were greeted SO warmly. I wish I could remember what the guys name was. He was so freaking nice. We were a walk-in, but still felt like a priority due to him. He asked us what our budget was. I told him we didn't want to spend any more than $400. He basically was like "Oh yeah, of course! We just get some people in that have like $80, and we draw something up for them and then they realize they can't pay for it. Then we're like, we could have drawn you one for $80. But yeah absolutely it will be in that budget." But remember, I said I don't want to spend any more than $400. They drew up a feather stencil really quickly. We liked it. Then my tattoo artist (not the receptionist) quoted us $200 a piece ($400 total). I get nervous in situations like these so I immediately agreed to it, but now that I look back I should have questioned it because our tattoos took no more than 45 minutes, and they're not that detailed or large. I think that they charged us $400 just because that's what we said our budget was, which is kind of shady if that's true. I have been around tattoos my whole life and it just doesn't make sense to me for these tattoos to cost $200 each due to the reasons above and also because our tattoos look very different. When I realized that we were going to have different artists, I was concerned. Different artists have different styles, so I asked the receptionist if they would look exactly alike. He assured me they would be, but they are EXTREMELY noticeably different tattoos. Mine is at least twice as dark as his. My fiancé had an amazing experience. He had Pete as his tattoo artist. He was friendly throughout, and did an amazing tattoo. The tattoo was shaded well, and he performed it quickly. My fiancé showed him a tattoo he wants, and Pete seemed excited to have the opportunity to do it in the future. My experience was alright. I appreciated the fact that my artist, Joe redid my stencil placement three times. It showed me that he really cared. Even though I have tattoos, I always get really nervous when I'm getting a new one, and he handled it nicely by reassuring me. I always appreciate this because I cannot control my anxiety, so the understanding makes me very happy. Mid-way through my tattoo, my fiancé came down to be with me as he was finished. After my tattoo was done, all three of us were making small talk and the conversation switched to face tattoos. I expressed my want for a subtle white-ink face tattoo, and commented that it would be easy to cover in the event that I needed to. My tattoo artist then went on this short, rude and condescending rant about how I'm too young and if I'm not an idiot I would stay off my hands, neck and face and how I shouldn't get one because I don't have a career yet. Let me remind you he literally does not know anything about me but my name, and the funny thing is that he doesn't know I already have a full-time well-paying career in music where I show my tattoos every day... So I told him, I do have a career as a musician. He then sarcastically said, "Well how about you wait until you sell your first million records." I felt like I was being treated like a child, and if you know anything about the music business you absolutely do not need to sell a million records to have a career. It was really condescending and left a terrible taste in my mouth. When we went to pay, I asked if I could pay the $400 on my card and my fiancé pay the tip on his card. It was almost as if the nice receptionist knew we were being charged too much, because he told us it was perfectly fine that we didn't tip and not to worry about it. He didn't even seem low-key irritated. My artist, Joe then chimed in from the background, "OR there is an ATM really close." Umm, ok... who do I listen to? And also, you are charging me way too much and you know it. Awkward. The receptionist then assured me that it was absolutely fine and we payed and left. LET ME REPEAT HOW MUCH I LOVED THE RECEPTIONIST. Anyways, separately our tattoos look great. But we wanted them matching. The shop was clean. Both artists were competent at their job. Pete's personality was amazing and we will be going back to be worked on by him. Joe left a bad taste in our mouths and we will not be going back to be worked on by him. I hope to update this review in the future with more stars. read more

I was even impressed how he was sterilizing the room while I was paying and signing papers. She's awesome knows her stuff I think she said she was an EMt at one point ! Then they said 13.00 tattoos with a 7 $ tip! 20.00 so I went upstairs Doria she got me signed up with Erin and she did a key for me where my one other tattoo was at on the inside of my arm, the beginning of my sleeve I do believe ! I've gone to her 5 times now and she's fabulous. prices are fair and I tip her well because she's a talented artist. it feels like a friendly atmosphere everytime I go. from what I've seen the other artists are just as great as she is. they also do piercings here. I've had Erin do most of my tattoos at this point. She is awesome, and totally patient with me even though I'm a chicken when it comes to pain. Her art outside of just tattoos is amazing and her work in tattooing is stunning. She's done some amazing cover up work on friends of mine as well. Her line work is fantastic, her individual designs are awesome, the shading and coloring is just awesome. I'm getting redundant, you should just go book your next tattoo with her ASAP. In addition to her Daria, one of their piercers, is great as well. I've only had her help me change jewelery at this point, but even that she's knowledgeable in. She's done piercings on friends of mine, and I'd recommend her to anyone. Its nice to go into a shop where the people are friendly and not cooler than you because they're more alt than you are. I went in on Friday the 13th, priced a piece of flas $150 After receiving my tattoo I went out to the parlor and he says that will be $150. I gave him $170, to give my tattoo artist the $20 as my tip. I got home that night and checked my instagram, the whole day they're having a $13 off sale. I am so happy with the piercing I got today! I walked in with my friend and immediately noticed how clean and well-maintained this shop is. Daria helped me right away and came off as very knowledgeable. While setting up the room, she took me through the process and explained why everything was done the way it was. She even helped me pick out my jewelry and was super patient with me and all of my questions. The piercing itself only took a couple of minutes and was relatively painless for a cartilage piercing. Afterwards, she even showed me how to clean my piercing and let me know that I could come back whenever to have her look at it if I had any concerns. I don't normally review places but, after getting pierced here, I felt like I should definitely sign up to give my opinion since the opinions I found on Yelp helped me with my decision. I was itching for another piercing and decided to get my septum and philtrum (medusa) pierced. I looked around at a lot of shops but decided on this one because I had read a lot of good reviews about Daria. The reviews don't lie. Daria is by far the most considerate and professional piercers I've been to and I've been to a good few. She asked the best questions in order to figure out what best suited my needs and was all around amazing. She made me feel comfortable by offering up some casual banter while she cleaned the area to be pierced. Daria also explained everything she was doing, in preparation and during the piercing, as well as how the jewelry worked in terms of taking them out and flipping my septum piercing up into my nose to hide it. However, I think what really impressed me was her dedication to getting the piercing right. She didn't rush with marking where to pierce my septum and she made sure that it was where it'd look best. She also did this with my philtrum and they both turned out beautifully. All in all, I honestly couldn't be any happier with the placement of the piercings, how they were done, or the cost, which was very reasonable for two piercings plus jewelry. Lets just start by explaining that Im giving 2 stars because this establishment was pristine and that the other artists of which I did not have the fortune of working with seemed very competent. That being said, if you happen to get a girl with violent Geisha tattoos on her throat then I suggest that you run in the opposite direction. I came to this place with a design very similar to the cover of the book "On Combat" look it up its googleable. I strictly told her that I respected the fact that she was the 'artist' and I was open to any variation of this design as long as it was original. I specificlly asked her to sketch up like 3 different designs including one similar to my idea, to which she asked for two weeks to complete. After that two weeks I came to the shop and learned that she only sketched one concept that looked nothing like what I wanted. It looked more like an Affliction T-shirt. Admittedly this is where I should have walked out of the shop. but I was impatient and she was insistent that I was the only way to incorporate that dynamic on my side like I wanted it and look right. Once again I was a sucker, assuming that she was an artist and acctually cared about my design and what it ment to me. This is a good time to explain that this tattoo was ment to be a memorial to my 38 brothers in my Battallion that were killed while I was in Iraq. The reason why the Wings were intended to be arched in an upward fashion was to signify readyness to sacrifice like most military insignia show. She obviously wasnt interested in any of that. In fact as I was taking a break half way through my tattoo, I was thumbing through a book of templates only to realize that the exact design that she drew was 100% traced out of that fucking book. 0% origionality even though thats the only thing that I asked her not to do. When I thouroughly explained to her that this tattoo was ment to memoriolize these brothers, she obviously didnt give a shit at all. I wish I could remember this girls name but my discription of her should suffice for future customers. My advice, Instead of having faith in someone as an artist, whom obviously is nowhere near such stature. Make sure that you get exactly what your asking for and dont settle for hacks like the girl with the geisha tattoos. read more

I had a pretty negative experience here. I was told that my design was "about the worst design possible," which was condescendingly explained as being because I wanted it to have a circle in it, but "the human body isn't flat." Really!!! The human body isn't flat! No way! I'm pretty sure I've seen a lot of people with circles in their tattoos before. I have a tattoo on me already that was at least as complicated as the design I brought in to cyclops that they essentially refused to do. I appreciate that the artist I talked to was honest about what he thought would happen if he tried it, but given that there are about 100 other places on carson to get tattoos I was surprised that he was so rude. I definitely would have been thankful for expert advice about how to improve the design, but we didn't get anywhere by him simply deriding it. I also appreciate that a tattoo salon is not a department store where every employee is always expected to be cheerful and respectful, but my previous tattoo was done by someone much less apparently put upon when asked to try a challenging design. In the end I'm glad that I didn't get tattooed here, because I wouldn't want someone that treated me that way stabbing me with needles. I give them two stars instead of one though because the place was very neat and clean, and the example art on the walls looked pretty good (but to my inexperienced eye equally as complicated, if not more so, as what I wanted but was refused). I guess if you really don't care how you are talked to and you want art that is their specialty, it would still be an ok place to go. read more

Hallelujah! Finally. I've been here and there and everywhere looking for a tattoo spot I can return to! I am not in denial I know that some of my tattoos Are below par. But hey you live and you learn. So I was told by numerous people to check this place out and see this guy Richie that I went to school with. So I found him on Instagram and his work was so colorful and crisp and clean. I set something up and went in. I wound up changing my mind on the design and felt I was a terrible customer but he was awesome and dealt with me and was really friendly. Some tattoo artists get annoyed with stuff like that or they can be awkward and silent while doing the tattoo, luckily there was absolutely NONE of that there! To begin, I'd like to start off by saying that I was really impressed with the shop at first. It's clean, it's colorful, they've got cool art, and they've got a ruleboard that explicitly says you have to be sober. I thought that was awesome, 'cause it showed professionalism and seemed like the perfect place to get something done. I was so ready to get a tattoo here. ...And then I spoke to the artist. I wanted to see what his advice was for a tattoo touchup, and get a general price estimate. Sounds totally reasonable, right? WRONG. Apparently, by asking for a price quote (to compare with other tattoo rates), I was rude and out of line. He then informed me that, if I were to leave and come back, he would assume that he was the cheapest and that he would increase the amount. Yes, you read that right: I would basically be charged extra just because I wanted to make sure I was making a financially-informed decision. The shop was cool, but this guy was a jerk. Totally not worth it. Kind of a shame, because the artists who were under him seemed like they might be cool and talented... And as a side note, even those guys looked a little uncomfortable with their bosses behavior. Go somewhere else. Their rates aren't the best, and the behavior I encountered was totally uncalled for. Seriously, the best work in the world couldn't justify paying to sit in a room with this guy for a few hours. Edit: I just remembered something else he said to me. After he told me he'd increase the price if I left and came back later, he informed me that, "[He] doesn't really care. [He's] not starving for business." Clearly he doesn't care about his clients if that's his attitude on people who come into his shop... Just sayin'. read more
