Before my food came out I was brought numerous appetizers that I didn't even order or pay for! A salad, some shrimp, and some sort of roll, all of which were delicious. The flavoring of the noodles was amazing, and the shrimp were extra juicy. After I finished the noodles, they brought me some fruit and a new set of chopsticks and napkins. Even with the address in hand I walked by this discrete Japanese twice before finally finding it! As soon as I opened the door and scoured the should-to-shoulder room I knew that this was not your regular, average Japanese place but a coveted address that people from all of the hood knew about. The menu is pretty vast, and covers your typically range of sashimi, tempura, sushi, bento, yakitori but also has a pretty sweet selection of udon or soba noodle soups, which is exactly what I was craving that rainy, Wednesday afternoon. I ordered an udon soup lunch special which came with a lovely salad sampler, a steaming bowl of udon soup with some shrimp tempura floating above, a nice steamy pot of tea and some fruit for dessert. As someone was paying I heard them ask if the house delivered as well and my heart starting pounding and my mind racing with dreams of authentic Japanese delivered straight to my home, but alas, the radius us too small and my home is out of limits. We had the best sushi experience of our lives within a 2 min walk of our rental apartment. We ordered the bateau with 8 brochettes and it was the perfect dinner for 2. The fish was super fresh and absolutely delish. The brochettes were grilled perfectly and seasoned appropriately. The desserts we ordered were simple and great. My husband and I will definitely be back before leaving Paris. I couldn't stop saying how wonderful our dinner was. I felt perfectly satiated after that meal. We went there last night for a friend's birthday. It doesn't look very different from your average Paris sushi shop, so I was a bit skeptical even though it had come recommended. GOOD We each had a not-so-expensive "traditional menu" (read: not only suchi and miso). It was great ! The 2nd soup, sushi/sashimi, fried salmon, tempura, and macha ice cream desert were particularly good (there was also a 1st soup and 3 small bowls like salads). My friend had fried chicken instead of salmon and it was excellent. The service was quite good. BAD The lighting and ambience isn't great, it's a little over-lit, and doesn't look so different from your typical Paris sushi-shop. read more

We've been traveling through Europe for the past four weeks and wanted authentic Japanese food this evening and found it at Kyobashi. We had the shrimp, salmon, chicken, and meatball skewers as an appetizer and gyudon and chirashi sushi for our main entrees. The flavoring on the appetizer skewers and the beef in my gyudon was just right, and in the chirashi sushi the rice flavoring was nicely balanced with vinegar and sugar while the raw fish was very fresh. For starters we were given a type of seafood salad of green konbu, and a couple of bites of cooked eggplant. Next a bowl of miso shiru and a mixed salad with a delicious vinegar-based dressing was served. Dinner was excellent. We returned to our apartment feeling well satisfied. read more

My boyfriend and I came around 8 on a Saturday evening and boy, did the pace pick up as the night went on. Even though the crowd increased, the staff maintained a close attention. Neither of us consider ourselves connoisseurs, but we both agreed it was the best sushi we've ever had. My wife and I are afficianados of Japanese food. She is Nisei (2nd generation Japanese) while I lived in Tokyo for 4 1/2 years. Since we are in Paris, we did not expect much but thought we would try out the #1 Japanese restaurant in Paris on Yelp. We were not disappointed in our low expectations. We arrived about noon for lunch. We were then the only people in the restaurant. It took some time for the waitress to take our orders. Since I am used to ordering in Japanese, I expected that she would understand me only to find out she was actually Cantonese. Ok, no problem. I ordered zaru soba and miso soup while my wife ordered tempura lunch set. The miso appeared to be the type you make from a mix bought at an Asian market. The tofu was hard to find. My soba consisted of probably 20 soba noodles, some of which were stuck to the two ice cubes on which they were placed. The soba soup was World Class over-salted. I mean like someone dropped the salt shaker in the soup. The tempura was ok. This entire process lasted almost 1 1/2 hours. Guess we will stick to French food for the balance of our stay. read more
