Because one usually has a nice view of the water there. The air here is somehow special. Unfortunately, it was already evening and February - so dark and with a view's it not really good. When we got to Zug in Switzerland at the harbor restaurant it was misty and cool. My first impression after entering the restaurant: the living room. Nice. FULL! We had a threesome a table and my colleague and I were still waiting for the third party of our meeting. In the meantime, we were warmly served with drinks and a very attentive waitress handed us in advance the food and wine list. The first impression: Expensive. Exclusive. Except for a few items on the menu nothing "simple", but styled fare Ok. I'm more for the simpler and less gravy. Except maybe for a roast. After the parties had arrived in the league, we ordered our entrees after a brief study of the cards. For my colleagues, this consisted of a salad with turkey, for our business partners from a pumpkin soup and for me from carpaccio of salmon and walleye - served with a small salad and a lemon vinaigrette. Seasonal fresh white bread. Very tasty, but for me a bit too much lemon in the vinaigrette. The main course consisted in three of us each from a 200g fillet steak from local beef to roast potatoes and blanched vegetables and king prawns. The filet was like butter and it could not be more perfect. The prawns were a little too dry and probably a little too long in the pan. But it was definitely just a touch and did not really bother. The dessert we didn´t order then, unfortunately - but there is certainly a next time. The coffee came from a special Espresso Machine and was wonderful velvety - served by our very attentive waitress. All in all - a not very cheap but excellent evening. Can be repeated. For sure. Categorization: 4 of 5 stars Value for money: main dishes from € 6.90, entrees from about € 5,00 Seats: 60 inside, 40 outside (lakeside) Specialization: Seasonal cuisine, German / Swiss cuisine, steak, fish. Recommendation? YES!

Yelp Review 2026 #64:…read more I'm not vegetarian and definitely not vegan. But I will dabble with the veg from time to time. Hiltl is popular for being the world's oldest vegetarian restaurant in the world. Here's information I will share that I wish was available before planning to come here. You must make a reservation for lunch/ dinner because that's when they're busy. Breakfast is for walk-ins and they don't do reservations. Hop on their website and be sure you're on the right location because they have several within a 2-mile radius...some on the same street. I went here to try their breakfast buffet. I wasn't sure how busy they got for breakfast so, I got here at 6:30am because I got the wrong information online! They open at 7am. Different locations have different hours. Check their website for actual hours and don't trust review site information because it's wrong! They're not busy for breakfast at all. There's 2 ways to do their buffet. You can pay a fixed price and fill your plate multiple times or go and fill your plate once and pay based on the weight of your food - you get free bread. I did the pay-by-weight option. I have a whole day of eating planned so, I wasn't about to fill up for breakfast. When they opened at 7am, they were still putting the food out one by one. By 7:20, all the food was out which was fine. I was in no rush. The spread includes fresh fruits, cheeses, butter, margarine, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, mango mousse, mango chia pudding, banana chocolate brownie crumble, a pear dessert (with cream, vanilla and orange), rosti, scrambled eggs, potato salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, beets, chickpeas, olives, couscous, corn salad, olives, asparagus, green peas, feta cheese, hardboiled eggs, curry salad, dolmades, broccoli and edamame, artichoke salad, bulgur salad, tabbouleh, orecchiette tofu salad, Thai salad, hummus, guacamole, muhammara, etc. They have 6 types of bread. Slice a piece and toast it yourself. Vegan and vegetarian food tend to taste strongly of coconut/ coconut milk and I don't like that. My favorites from the buffet include chocolate mousse, mango mousse, banana chocolate brownie crumble, dolmades, asparagus, orecchiette tofu salad, and Thai salad. I got a mango lassi to drink which I didn't like. It had curry powder. Service was pleasant. The restaurant was clean.

All salads available in two sizes, the big one is quite generous. perfect for a light lunch. Just as expected, there are plenty of healthier dishes and vegetarian fare that is properly signalized on the bilingual menu. Hooray! Veggie spring rolls: perfectly crisp Thai Mint-Mango Salad: fresh, crispy & delicious marinated greens with a ginger dressing Pineapple Chili Salad: not nearly as spicy as expected, but nice anyway Vegetarian Thai Noodle Soup: freshly made and plentiful Raspberry Mint Lassi: :D Servers have always been attentive. Also, nice, clean and bright interior creates an atmosphere that matches the menu on a cinch. The bads: Depending on what you order it can be pricey (but then you tell me what in this town isn't). They are located on the back of the shopping center, overlooking the parking garage. Actually, their outdoor seating, although nice & modern is, well, the parking area itself. On top of it, there have been ongoing construction works in the fore mentioned parking structure, so the outside tables are basically resting right next to this big construction site. It's dusty and it's noisy and quite frankly I don't see why anyone would have slightest desire to dine out there. The veredict: Go for the food and the service and stay inside!
