I wish I'd have gone earlier... This family owned meat shop is WELL STOCKED. They have a nice supply of the regular stuff, but also carry buffalo steaks, elk jerky, and the like. They also carry some seafood products. Their seafood is all frozen, of course, but this is ND after all... and because they have a high turnover, you know the fish is FRESH frozen, and hasn't been sitting in the freezer for a month (like in the grocery stores). L & M definitely rocks for all things meat. There seems to be a semi-queue, so grab a basket and head to the right, then follow the glass cases around the outside, if you want any of the fresh meat. Which you do. Now, down to business. The natural casing weiners are great, as are the German sausages (so big you should slice them lengthwise and put them in a footlong bun!). Excellent steaks, with just about any cut you could imagine there for you to drool over. Lots of frozen items, too, including some fish, breakfast sausages, variety meats, and some "meal-type" foods, like chicken Cordon Bleu and Kiev. The ground beef is top notch, and doesn't cost any more than the grocery store. I love eating beef that tastes meaty and fresh, not like it's been sitting around for days wrapped in plastic. Like a fine wine, beef needs to breathe... You say you forgot to buy buns for your burgers and brats? No problem, L & M's gotcha covered, just check up by the register! And don't forget your beef sticks! Black pepper is the BEST flavor (I do not like the teriyaki...tastes like tea for some reason)! Gotta give them props for being in my neighborhood, too. It's hard not to stop when you drive by there a few times a day, and the parking lot is often full, so you know it must be good! Pretty good selection of meat, if a bit expensive. It's usually when I ask the guys at L&M to shave my steak. It's really common in Asian cooking to use thinly sliced meat. It's best done after the meat has been frozen, but when I ask they just give me confused looks and slice it as is... most of the time anyways. I have to agree with the other positive reviews. It's a great meat market. The meat counters at the local stores don't come close to Laddies (The original name for years). What they process locally just has better spices and flavor than the stuff produced on a massive scale. Having said that they do have sandwich meats they get from other markets, but they've chosen well because they're so damn good.....Especially the garlic loaf and minced ham. Don't forget the great cheese.....Especially the Baby Swiss....Some of the best I've tasted. Damn....I'm hungry now. Good thing I have some jalapeño loaf and baby Swiss in the truck....Yum read more

For me as a German, Sausage and Meat loving women, this is like heaven in the states! I still didn't find a authentic Bratwurst but L&M Meats have a sausage called German Sausage, it's pork and really rich in taste I love it. Also the Braunschweiger, it's such a different to the one you can buy at a grocery store ( of course) It just taste so fresh and delicious! the service is so excellent and I am excited to try every single sausage they have :) read more
