I came here twice for dinner with coworkers while working in the area, as the restaurant was a short walk from the hotel we were staying at. The food was pretty good, and the portions were generous. Nothing too fancy, but the prices were reasonable relative to the quality and location. The first time I came, I split a mushroom and sausage pizza with a coworker and also got the soup of the day, stracciatella. The pizza was large (I definitely wouldn't have been able to finish it on my own) and the soup was tasty. The pizza did get a bit soggy partway through, but it was still pretty good. The restaurant had a wide variety of desserts; I picked the lemon sorbet, which was a sufficient size since I was already full from the pizza, and was very enjoyable. My second night here, I got a ravioli dish with beef bolognese sauce; again, it was tasty and the portion was generous. I was just barely able to finish it. There was a good amount of outdoor seating; since I was here during a heatwave we never dined inside so I didn't get a look at the interior. All the staff we encountered were friendly. Italian food that's as cheap as well chips. Felt compelled to write this as the old Italian waiter that stalked every girl in the restaurant and the local bars has passed away. Sad times. Been coming to this joint for about 15 years now and its the same lively experience every time. The food is great, served fresh and quickly and is very cheap. It's always packed in here whenever I come and though the tables are a little close together it sort of adds to the rowdy ritual of eating here. Birthdays are megatastic in here, they turn the lights off and all the waiters bash symbols together wildly and you get presented with an ice cream in an animal dish. Wicks. I just think this place is so overrated. For a long tie it was the only Italian in the neighbourhood so I think the fact it's been around a long time is working in it's favour but this isn't Italian food. This is food prepared for the British palette which happens to have a bit of basil thrown on top. The pizzas are awful, I'd honestly rather pick up a pizza from the fresh aisle in Sainsbury's. They don't taste fresh or authentic. Just very thin, basic crust. The pasta is okay, but none of the pasta is handmade or fresh which is the telling sign of a good Italian. I've had the seafood pasta, the seafood was frozen (as confirmed by the waiter) so was lacklustre. I've also had the carbonara which isn't bad but it's definitely not authentic. More of a junky, hangover friendly version. read more

I Wish I didn't have to write this review but im very disappointed in the service we received from the management. We went for an early meal with children (most are actually teenagers) and when the waitress bought the desserts out she dropped a couple and the glass smashed everywhere... about 30 mins later one of the children notice the glass had cut them and there was lots of blood - we altered the management - who wasn't very helpful - we asked for a first aid kit and he provided a wet tissue, he even said - "it's just a cut". As we couldn't anything we put the wet tissue on and proceeded to ask for the bill. Some one bought the bill and we immediately said we will not be paying the service (to this point no one even asked if the child was ok). The management came over and started shouting, saying it was thE children's fault and finally agreed to take off the service charge - the whole situation was upsetting for both the adults and children alike - Im extremely disappointed that our evening was ruined and definitely would NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

Been here many times - always a good atmosphere & always good food. My personal favourite is the Calzone, but there's a wide selection of Pizza & Pasta and certainly big enough portions for most people to handle. Gets busy at the weekends, so book ahead - it's well worth it. read more

Pretty solid Italian restaurant. The food is very good and reasonably priced. The Calzone pizza I ordered was enormous! Definitely a place to go for a casual pizza with friends or a partner. Having said that the restaurant itself could do with a bit of updating and it gets pretty loud in there on a weekend. read more

This is not a restaurant for those who want a sedate, quiet romantic meal for two - but the bustling, loud, friendly atmosphere is great for dining out with friends or family. The noise levels can sometimes reach quite a high, but even so the friendly staff, excellent food and fast efficient service more than make up for the occasional lack of being able to hear the person opposite you and the fact that the tables are all somewhat crammed in. Great for birthdays, the waiters/waitresses will make a real fuss of you, putting 'Happy Birthday' on the tannoy and banging pizza trays to attract maximum attention to the blushing birthday boy or girl. The garlic pizza bread is delicious and the portions are of main courses are very generous - if you've got room for dessert I don't know how you've managed it! Which is a shame, as the dessert menu consists of a whole raft of wonderful homemade treats and luxury ice creams, staring tantalisingly at you from a large glass fridge in the corner. The prices are extremely reasonable, and you can park in Gade Car park nearby for only a pound or two making it easily accessible. Children are welcome, and its advisable to book in advance for friday and saturday nights as its very popular. In summer the large front windows open up and the restaurant spills out on to the street, perfect for long warm summer evenings. read more

I love L'Artista! I have been going there since i was little with my parents, I try go there at least once a year as it inst my local. They do make you feel special when it is your birthday and their food is delicious! Would recommend you to try it out but weekends you will need to book so maybe for lunch. read more

(4.5 Stars) The resturant looks nice, and the general theme is pleasing to the eye especially the art paintings on the wall. They have friendly staff and quick drink response time. (Im typing this as I go) one downside is the amount of people in groups, it is quite a loud place. However, the time it took for the food was very little (in a group of 3) . The pricing is amazing for the quaility of the food. I honestly have no idea how, but the food for the pricing is one of the best I have had. I would recommend this place for a good dinner or group meal. read more
