We ate here our second night in London, it is near our Hilton hotel. Lovely American waitress from CA. Service was attentive at the beginning, but as they filled up, it seriously slowed down. Waited almost 15 min for our desserts. The homemade tiramisu was ok. I had the meatballs and the caprese salad. Both were average. My husband loved the lasagna (that my daughter ordered (she didn't love it- very light on ricotta cheese.) his fish was ok. My sons grilled chicken and French fries were great! Each time that I've been to Zonzo's I've always had a great time. The ambiance is usually quite quiet as there as usually very few people, however it is always very pleasant. Usually when I come here I get the Calzone, which I can highly recommend as it is delicious and well-made. However, the service here is usually quite spotty as the staff either seem preoccupied or inexperienced. read more

Very cute, local Italian restaurant near Paddington Station in London. I started with the meatballs as an appetizer. They were fantastic - perfectly cooked and accompanied with delicious red marinara sauce that complimented them. The linguini with clams and shrimp was a bit confusing. It was supposed to come with linguini, but it came with spaghetti, which was fine. Also, they bake this dish to finish it, which kind of dries it out but the flavors in the dish, to spite its slight dryness, were very nice. I ended with the lava cake and ice cream along with Sambuca. HUGE points for them putting an odd number of coffee beans in the Sambuca (for good luck). We went to this restaurant on a Tuesday at about 6pm with a party of four. We did not have a reservation but they sat us immediately. We ordered three different appetizers and four entrées. I thoroughly believe the pasta was homemade, I forgot to ask if it was, but it had a wonderful texture and taste. Everyone at the table was extremely satisfied with their meals. They served slightly large portions and my only complaint with the food was it needed more salt. Their drink prices reflected the type of establishment but again were delicious and strongly mixed. They ended the meal with shots of lemoncello and who I belive to be our chef came out to serve it. He thanked us for coming and held the door for us. It was a great experience and I would recommend it for a nice night out with colleagues or a date. read more

Prior to the pandemic my best friend and I would come to London each Christmas and always eat at least one dinner at Zonzo's. Unfortunately, my experience tonight was drastically different from previous years. This Christmas I returned to London with my husband and my friend insisted I take him to Zonzo's for dinner We arrived and sat for a bit with no one taking our drink order. No problem ...the place got busy immediately after arrival. The complimentary olives and delicious warm bread that used to arrive upon sitting down were no longer present. We surmised that was a byproduct from Covid closures the past two years and were empathetic at that assumption. When our salad arrived we asked for bread and were.given two slices of bread with no oil or butter. While I devoured my slice immediately, I agreed with my husband that it did seem a bit under-baked. Disappointing but...ah well, right? Three tables that came after us each got their food before us which seemed odd but we assumed something we ordered took longer to cook. However, when the wrong entree came for my husband, we weren't completely surprised as our waitress while sweet, was young and inexperienced. We patiently waited for his dinner while my gnocchi grew cold and not once did the owner come over, offer an apology, etc. Ironically, I remembered him as engaging on my past visits. Still, we remained polite with the waitress as again, mistakes happen. When my husband's correct meal arrived, the veal was overcooked and came with very little sauce. Worse, my gnocchi were gummy in texture vs. light and airy as I remembered them. And the sauce that I had raved about was now oily and I was left chewing pieces of garlic in each bite After eating a total of four pieces of gnocchi, I stopped eating. While waiting for my husband to finish his meal, the oil began to separate from the sauce covering my gnocchi and while the owner was facing our table and could see my full plate sitting there, never once did he stop over to inquire about our meal. Nor did our waitress. And did I mention that I asked for cheese and tap water three separate times? The most disappointing in all of this was the owners lack of concern about our dining experience. When the bill came, I would have thought perhaps our drinks would have been comped (one drink each) but nope. So we paid our.£70 bill and left . In the past I have left glowing reviews for this restaurant so it breaks my heart to write a review which is anything less than five stars. As I stay at the Hilton London Metropole across the street from Zonzos I will also share my poor experience with the concierge and sadly will not return as this restaurant has either lost their previous chef or the owner has lost his desire to care about his patrons. read more

Went to this place w four friends. Ordered the bruschetta and a combo appetizer to start. The bruschetta was only a couple pieces of bread and did not contain cheese. Despite this, the flavor was good. The combo platter was big and contained a large variety of meets and antipasta. The flavors were quite good and that dish came with a good portion of bread. I ordered the gnocchi w spinich and my friends ordered a variety of gnocchi and pasta dishes. All came w a good size portion and good display. The materials seemed homemade or at a minimum, were fresh. Each of our dishes lacked salt but the flavors were good if slightly adjusted w/ salt. The place had a good atmosphere and the service was friendly. I would recommend this place, especially if you want Italian in that area of London. read more

This would be three stars if I had it in a restaurant, but my philosophy is to add a star for delivery I was craving a steak badly but had to be at home, so ordered one from Zonzo. Looking to try something delicious and close by our hotel due to the infamous London rain, a quick search yielded Zonzo's! We were greeted instantly as we entered and welcome with the sweet smell of roasting green peppers and garlic emanating from the pizza oven in the back of the restaurant. We knew we'd made the right choice. Promptly seated with menus, we made our wine choices and settled into a sort of culinary nirvana. We ordered the Lasagne Zonzo and the Penne al Pollo. Both were very delicious, but the lasagne was extremely tasty and highly recommended. We also ordered the garlic bread which was very tasty as well. The service was outstanding, prompt and attentive. We were In town from the states sightseeing. After a full day at Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and Thames River boat tour (and 8 to 9 miles of walking) our party of four was famished. We found Zonzos using the handy dandy google machine and off we went. We were immediately seated at the front of the cozy restaurant and were presented with an interesting and varied menu and relatively expansive winelist. Starting with bruschetta and a nice Malbec, our main courses came out promptly: lasagna, a seafood risotto, chicken risotto and grilled salmon. Not much was discussed as our ravenous crew devoured the delectable fare. The manager, Wais was gracious and friendly, and we asked to meet the chef to thank him for our delightful meal. We stayed at rental house down the street from the restaurant. Read the reviews and was expecting Really delicious Food. It was a little above average. Waiter seemed out of sync. Big portions tho. When we paid out the girl at the register said gratuity was included so I didn't add extra. When I walked back by he was chewing her out for telling me that, like he wanted an extra tip. You always hate going in to a restaurant 30 minutes before they close, especially when they close at midnight, but they staff was welcoming and appeared glad to have us. We found this little spot and then had dinner both of our remaining nights! Super happy with the staff, the food and the feel. We started with the bruschetta on night two and it was just absolutely to die for. In all we had spaghetti Bolognese, seafood pasta dish, grilled chicken dish, grilled fish dish, ravioli, some sort of soup and a salad. All were just impeccable. For dessert we tried the cheesecake, chocolate mouse, panna cotta both chocolate and berry. Each night we polished it off with a shot of limoncello. Surprisingly awful on all fronts - despite the glowing reviews. 1, horrible service...yes very busy but no acknowledgement of how I liked the food and the manager-owner mumbled something after I asked for regular water. Ie I was charged for mineral water. 2, the food was mediocre to bad. Not very much seafood and very tiny on the shrimp, mussels, etc. Pasta overcooked, although sauce was flavorful. Only pepper was offered, no parmesan. 3, did I say the service? So preoccupied with take out deliveries et al....I had to wait 15-20 mins for the check (had toask when they took away my plate) and was ignored for another 20 to charge my card. It was like I was a bother for wanting to pay my bill and move on with my night. Super underwhelming food, service et al despite the reviews (the overpriced pizzas looked tasty so maybe this place does that right). The experience started on a bad note, when while being greeted, we were told by a man who seemed to be the owner that since we did not have a reservation, we "only have 1 hour to eat!" Pizza wasn't baked enough and toppings were cold. Sea-food linguini with prawns: they used the cheapest type of prawns, those little tiny mushy ones with no taste. for 12 pounds they could have invested in real size prawns. Zonzo is quite easy to miss, nestled as it is on the less salubrious end of Edgware Road amongst "Chicken Valley" and tired looking hairdressers. However Zonzo is a gem, perhaps it is a little pricier than "Mickey's Fish Bar and Kebab House", but well worth the money. I popped in here for lunch with a couple of colleagues the other week and was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything seemed to be cooked in the large open oven (and sitting near it was quite a blessing on a freezing winter afternoon), and the Pizzas were crisp and well executed and the Garlic bread was to die for, recommended if you are looking for somewhere to eat on the North side of Edgware Road... read more

If I could have given this restaurant a 0, I would have. We were the first family in this restaurant and it took 30 min to bring the table a salad that was ordered. We placed our order and shortly after a table of about ten people arrived and followed by a few more families. We did not get our final meals for another hour (and that was only after I said something), and the table of ten was given their meals first and about half of the other tables. So besides the awful service the food was horrible. My husband's gnocchi meal was cold and bland, my appetizer of eggplant parmigiana was mushy and not good., and my son found a bone in his chicken pasta dish. This is the worse Italian restaurant I have ever been to. The owner said they would take the cold gnocchi off the bill and he did not. Stay away. read more
