Good, classic Catalan lunch awaits you at L'Avenc in the eastern end of Barcelona.
I came by after visiting nearby Can Tinure (highly recommend exploring near the church) with my partner. It was lunchtime, about 3, but they had space for us inside. It was spacious with lots of interesting tile and decoration, which is apt since a historic ceramics factory is close. Friendly enough staff will help you with anything needed, clean bathrooms.
We had some classic dishes, like patatas bravas and goat cheese salad. They were good, with crispy potatoes and tasty sauces. The salad was typical and fresh. Jose had a menu with a cheese and tomato salad, a steak like thing and flan dessert. He ate it all but wasn't super impressed. The place supports a local arts and theater collective and is very Catalan.
Try out a very local spot on the outskirts of town where tourists rarely venture at L'Avenc in Espulgues d'Llobregat. read more
