US tourists came to this place to sing karaoke as it is among the few represented in Paris clearly advertising as such. It also says that it is gay friendly which it seemed to be. We ordered from the happy hour menu but unfortunately the draft beers were not in service (which if you wanted a beer like we did) you could get a bottle for 9 euro compared to the much larger draft that was unavailable but would have cost 5 euro. After having one 9 euro Heineken (which is outrageous) we then ordered from the mixed drink 5 euro happy hour menu and the drinks were good. We arrived more than 30 mins before karaoke was supposed to start. We talked with the bartender and a local patron who was friendly despite our language barrier we used a translation app to help with the language barrier which seemed to work well.
Later a few ladies from Florida came in and ordered drinks. We connected as English speakers would and immediately there was a different feeling that came from the bartender. While he was happy to serve drinks he disassociated himself from the group. After a second round of drinks we all were interested in the karaoke that the establishment offered, supposedly in the cellar or basement. It was suppose to start at 10 pm and it was now 10:20pm and the door to the karaoke area was not open. Apparently the establishment requires a 10 euro cover for karaoke but if you order drinks beyond that amount it gets waived. It was waived for myself and my partner, since we had a couple of drinks, but not for the ladies which had paid for several as well. Even though my partner offered to pay the cover charge, whatever of it remained it for the ladies, it was not accepted from the bartender.
After several attempts to understand the financial logic and rules of the establishment, there was no rational explanation for this. Therefore the 6 of us left the establishment feeling they were merely looking to take advantage of us. There were only two other patrons in the bar at the time. While it started off as a nice night out it quickly turned into a duplicitous bunch of bull crap. I can only suspect the bartender didn't like straight women or certainly didn't want them there.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. I would give it a 0 star if I could. read more
