To state upfront, I haven't purchased anything from this shop so I don't know how the prices compare. However, as a pedestrian always fascinated by this place, I enjoyed exploring two floors of antiques and art from around the world. Cute shop but really shady business practices. They had a piece with a price tag of $200, it sold but was returned by the original buyer and so they contacted me and said it was available again but they won't accept less than $500... even though it was priced and sold for $200 and I even sent a photo of the price tag that I happened to take. They also tried claiming it was priced higher during the French Market to frame it as a "deal" even though it was sold before the French Market even occurred. As a fellow vintage re-seller, I really don't appreciate doing business like this. Especially when I was waiting for weeks and passing up on other furniture to get the piece. read more

Beautiful. I (and I would assume 99% of people) can't afford anything in here, but the collection that the owners have acquired/consigned is incredible. The gallery features beautiful vintage furniture, art, and home furnishings. I've always found the staff kind and courteous as well- they tend to give you space, but upon my first visit, I was greeted by the man behind the counter with a glass of vintage Beaujolais. read more

My experience with them is awful. I consigned several large items from my late Father's estate. They agreed with a potential buyer, without consulting me, in December to reframe 2 paintings and "restore"them. The paintings were in very expensive Dutch frames and required no restoration at all.Since then, it has been like pulling teeth to find out if the paintings sold. Finally, in February I was assured they'd received payment for them and my check for $3000 would be sent in 30 days. Every week thereafter I received" the check's in the mail" excuse and payment has never been received. I've had to hire a lawyer to get my money. I would never recommend anyone to consign anything with them. My experience is that the owner and his assistant are the most dishonest people I've ever dealt with. read more

My husband and I visited L'Enfant Gallery in March of 2013, at this time we purchased a Victrola from Peter, what a HUGE mistake. We were told by Peter we would have this item we purchased in June, we he was going to make a trip to Houston, Texas to visit family, he offered and we agreed that he would deliver to us at this time. We have called and called Peter and the store, we have emailed numerous times and left countless messages. We are not getting any response at this time from L'Enfant or Peter. They have our money and we do not have our Victrola. In our opinion, yes, they are an awful place to do business with! WE ARE OUT ALL OUR MONEY!!! read more

I am absolutely appalled at how my friend (a woman of color) and two other customers of color were treated while at this gallery. First off, when my friend and I entered the gallery, the lady behind the desk did not greet us. She essentially ignored us and continued talking on the phone. That was incredibly unprofessional, but it's far from the worst part. I left my friend downstairs so I could look around the upper levels, and the lady working at the time was rude to my friend and acted suspiciously towards. The woman only let off my friend when she told her that she was waiting for me. In response, the woman said "oh. You're that other girl." Then right as I came back downstairs, two men of color walked in, and the woman began acting skittishly and immediately insisted that they were closing for the day. It was 4:45. According to their Facebook page, they close at 6. I am incredibly disgusted by that woman's blatant racism and the fact that her behavior is permitted in any establishment. L'enfant Gallery will never have my business after this. read more

I can testified that both owners are great , a lot of knowledge and have a lot of experiences. super store decorated and full of antiques from all over the world, all the Smithsonian's in the entire Country cannot bring what Gallery L'Enfant has .If you visit Washington DC go to Gallery L'Enfant you wont regret!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you will have the owner I think his name is Peter who is funny . This is an amazing establishment. It could be a museum except they skipped the day they taught "DONT TOUCH!" If you consider the old adage "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life," you'll get the idea of this store's ethos. No one works there. Ron or Peter both seem to be your best friend in about 10 seconds. I love everything I've brought home. read more
