Eh. A flea market is not quite what I had in mind bc I expected something on a much larger scale. Since this place was set up on a corner street block with part of the street sectioned off, the size of the market was quite small. There was about a little over two dozen booths. Some will accept credit cards while others are cash only. I've noticed that if you use your credit card, taxes will automatically be charged whereas using cash can be cheaper since taxes aren't accounted for. read more

Tiny flea market.. not much really here. I wouldn't make a trip out just to go to the flea market, but if you are in the area then stop by. It is also connected to the farmers market which is small too, but nice. read more

Don't get this confused with the Arlington Civitan Flea Market that happens over at Washington & Lee High School. There were only a handful of vendors but if you need to get your boots shined like african art & paying top dollar for already worn jeans this is your place. They also have a ton of jewelry vendors as well. I'd skip the crazy guy in the cowboy hat since most of his stuff he wanted retail prices for. He even had a couple of $200 shirts from a brand I've never even heard of. read more

Smack dab in the middle of Courthouse on the weekends, so you have a convenient location and time. It's close to a number of nice cafes, restaurants, and other stores so it's worth sticking around for lunch or to go do other shopping. read more

Wow the older posts below out of date. Some confuse this withthe Georgetown market did move to Arlington for a while a decade ago when the G'town area was under construction. it is long since back at the usual place in Georgetown. There is NO Sunday market in Arlington. But there is this great little antique market at Courthouse on Saturdays - year round, but understand that in winter, there will be only the very regular dealers and no one if the weather is extreme. But on a nice day, well worth the trip! That said, the Saturday market makes for a fun morning because it is not one of the early-bird markets where dealer/buyers show up with flashlights at 4 AM and cherry pick, these dealers sleep in too! AND there is a very nice farmers market across the parking lot (yes, lots of parking). So sleep in and head over to the farmer's market at 8 AM or so. You can buy produce and usually there are breakfast items to purchase as well. When finished, head to the street area at the front of the parking lot - (sometimes a speciality coffee cart is there early) - typically there is little set out before 8 AM at which point table begin to pop up rapidly, so you get to be an early bird even after sleeping in a bit and wandering the farmer's market! I've seen lots of very nice and reasonably priced vintage jewelry, art, clothing, small furniture, cameras, and decorative items (glass, figurines, etc.) on a regular basis. A few vendors of interesting imports but not a lot full like some markets and only a little of the homemade jewelry stuff :) read more

Walk if you are in the neighborhood, drive if you are a bit further (there's ample street parking) or take the metro - the flea market is only 1/2 block from the Courthouse stop. However you get there, go! This flea market, while considerably smaller (only 40 vendors) than Sunday's Georgetown Flea at the same location, is on Saturdays and coincides time-wise (for the first 3 hours) with the Farmers Market that takes place right next to it. The Farmers Market closes at 12 and the Flea closes at 4. So if you go in the morning you have a good opportunity to grab some bfast next door while you peruse the Flea. They have lots of antique and vintage vendors, sellers of DVDs and CDs, artwork vendors, clothing vendors as well as vendors selling international wares. Stopped by here today and was disappointed by the slim pickings and lack of antiques. More of the vendors were pedaling boutiquey wares, such as silky, patterned purses that have been a staple of outdoor markets lately. The jewelery selection was mostly unexciting strands of metal and plastic pearl-shaped necklaces. There was one booth with a random assortment of neat drawings, designer purses (a Coach purse, back when Coach wasn't gaudy). Still, Arlington Antique Market is not worth the trip. read more

I live in this neighborhood and I've seen this market go from eh to yuck. Talked with a few of the better vendors (great bike guys, some really nice jewelry--not the junky bead stuff you see everywhere (though there's plenty of that, too), and they sound defeated. Evidently the county isn't doing anything to advertise, and the market manager is just jamming in as many people as he can to get the most rent money. As a result, it's gotten a lot more like Eastern Market (in a bad way). I've just come from there and they had so much ghetto tragic junk that it really made me feel worse about living in this neighborhood. There are like three, maybe four cool people (they're easy to spot for the most part), but they're nestled in with so much junk and overpriced crap it's difficult to recommend. One of the regulars who I've seen around town told me she's looking for another market to go to--think this one's dying. Oh, they have a psychic/palm reader there now, too. What's next, fake YSL/Coach bags? Oh, wait, they have those too (bad fakes--and isn't that illegal anyway?) They've discontinued the Sunday market, apparently because no one would work with the organization that's supposed to be sponsoring it (Clarendon Alliance--like I said, I live here, and I've never heard of them). Sunday market used to be great, now it's just another parking lot in a boring DC suburb. Epic fail, Arlington. Oh well. read more

I'm surprised at the negative reviews, especially the one from May. Granted, it sounds like this market's changed a lot from what it used to be, but it's grown pretty rapidly over the course of the summer and has a lot of really neat stuff. Who and what is there depends on the week; there are a few regulars, but a lot of variation. I had six weddings to go to this summer on a very tight budget, and was able to get everyone super gorgeous antique glass for $15-$25 each-- so I got to get my friends unique gifts that they all wowed over and appreciated without utterly decimating my budget. As far as the antiques go, you can tell who's done the homework on their wares and who hasn't-- and the people who just go to estate sales and resell without finding out what they've got tend to be far less expensive, if less fun to talk to. Even the more expensive sellers will drop their prices if they haven't been able to confirm a piece, which is helpful. I did some homework on some of the things I bought, and found the pricing to be, at least for what I found, normal for what they were (an antique Anchor Hocking Pineapple candy dish was $15, which is about right compared with online prices, and actually a bit less expensive than it would have been somewhere else.) There's a woman who sells beautiful silk sarongs and scarves that I've gotten some gorgeous stuff from, as well, and there's a gentleman who repurposes flatware handles into really cute pendants and other jewelry. If this is yuck, I've obviously got no taste; I love it! Sure there are some gimmicky places, but they tend to pop up every once in a while and can be fun ("Arrrlington is for Pirates" tshirts = epic.) It's nice to be able to walk to an outdoor market that I can afford, and it's perfectly situated right next to the Farmers' Market, so I can shop both at once! read more
