It was one of the few true boulangeries open on Sunday morning and we could immediately tell that it was popular with locals. Their baguettes, focaccia and breakfast pastries were delicious. She led us to this place 20 min away run by a Japanese baker. This place is the next up and coming spot in the 2nd. The Crossiants were dead on perfect! The bar is full of Corsican wines, excellent sausage (some of the best), cheese. Pick your bottle from the shelf and pay a small corkage fee. Corsican whites are generally quite mineral, fresh and slightly salty (due to the island influence). They are a perfect match with sausage because the acid cuts through the fat nicely. They also have a range of wines by the glass but getting a bottle is far more social. The reds are juicy and spiced so again perfect with sausage. It's a non-debatable topic: you must get the mixed cheese and charcuterie plate. Its generous and so, so good. As I said above, it was some of the best sausage I had the whole time I was in France. And the whole shop smells of it too so it's impossible not to be hungry. Unless you are vegetarian- then maybe stick with the cheese.

By no means cheap, but worth EVERY penny. No menu, just take a table (if you're lucky) and you'll be asked if you want meat or cheese or mixed. You'll get a decent sized platter with bread and fig chutney for £8-10 per person, and you can order wine to go with it. They speak great English and also sell a small range of deli items, from chutneys to chocolates, bread and more. And all the cheese/meat you taste!

When I got it home, I saw it was not Epoisses, which must be made in the town of Epoisses to use the name, but some knockoff trying to pass for the real thing. Tasted good, but not like a fresh Epoisses in Paris should. I was conned. Too many other places to buy cheese, even though this one is less than a block from where we are staying. Losers, all the way, small-time nouveau shop keepers, not cheese merchants.

We let Pierre do the ordering and he didn't disappoint. I am not a huge cheese connoisseur, but I do enjoy the ones I like thoroughly! And, delicious sourdough bread to go along with it, yes please! They ordered wine and I ordered a Stella beer. The different cheeses were great, for the most part for me lol And we couldn't stop eating the bread! The waiter spoke English and was knowledgeable. Service was a tiny bit slow, as we were the only customers outside. However, I think in this city, that's how it usually is. A couple of tables on the sidewalk and a few tables in the back, but in the front of the shop is the display case. We really only wanted some hummus, but we also picked up some taramasalata and tzaziki, somehow managing to say no to the shouting voices in our stomachs that wanted fresh feta cheese and olives and all sorts of other things that looked yummy. They also have a good selection of Greek wines and breads and desserts. The shop owner's English was better than my Greek, but with a little finger pointing and holding out hands to say "that much" we did just fine. If you're entertaining and need appetizers, or perhaps you just want some nibbles around the place, stop here. But I warn you - don't be hungry when you do!
