An old lady, presumably the owner, directed us to a table of 4. We had to wait for 10 minutes before she finally give us menu cards. The kids options being limited and being not so hungry, we finally order 2 full course menu that we ask to share between the 3 of us (including the 7 y/o). The old lady brutally then said to us to leave. Just like this. I then tried to understand and she said that "she is not working for free". The restaurant was not full with some tables free, so I asked why such a behaviour ? That it was not making sense at all as the restaurant was not full. She then said that she has just received a booking for a table of 4, indeed we were at the last table of 4. She then said that this is normal for her to kick us out as "we are not eating". In all my life I never encountered a person so rude. That's beyond comprehension. As I was arguing she started insulting us. I took care of recording the discussion and arguments, including insults. It's a mix between produce and ingredient purveyors to prepared foods and flea market like items like clothes and wooden chairs. I enjoyed that they had live produce on hand like ducks and chickens for sale as well as many beautiful stalls filled with plants and flowers to take home. This market is on the quieter side but is still fairly bustling. We ended up purchasing a rotisserie chicken, local cheese, an apple tart and Provence herb rubbed salami for a picnic in the car. For those on the hunt for seafood, you won't be disappointed. Overall, you'll probably find all you're looking for but the atmosphere and loveliness isn't there so much. I would estimate that there were between 50-60 vendors.

How lucky we were in town for their weekly Saturday Market. I love how I can try local fresh…read morefoods.  There were lots of booths but we were time crunched and had to move quickly. First stop was a liquor stand, got to sample and buy Apple Cider and Apple Brandy (Calvados), also bought a Pear Wine, the wines were 13 Euro each.  All local stuff. Next I found a stand with some Cannelle, my heart skipped a beat because this was on my France list, I bought 6 for 5 Euro, 3 almond and 3 vanilla.  They were the best Cannelle I have ever had, much softer than ones in the past, such a treasure found. Crepe stand had ham and cheese as well as the chocolate, made fast and sold cheap.  The lady in front of me also bought about 2 inches stack of just fresh crepes, smart. Lastly, I hit up a Cheese stand where the guy let me sample a bunch of cheeses until I found a hard robust one that suited my taste. I saw lots of seafood that I wanted to try but hubby said not to chance eating raw stuff before our long Dday tour.  I was told that people in France like to eat seafood during the winter.  Too bad I missed out on the seafood fest.

My grandparents took me to this fishmonger as a child - it's the first one I know, and to this date, the most well stocked fishmonger I've ever been to (no slight to Pike Place Market - there are good fisheries there as well - but this one beats it). The fishing boats arrive daily - with rich bounties. most of what is sold here was brought in by one of the many colorful fishing boats in the harbor. Such fishmongers dot the coastline of France, for sure, but this one is and always has been special to me. Oh - and they generally have sea urchin. THAT is a big deal!

He was very joyful treating all of his customers as old friends. We visited this place for lunch given it's was highly rated for seafood in both TripAdvisor and Google. The kitchen closes at 2pm so make sure you arrive before that time. We arrived around 1:45pm and the outside seating was almost full. Decided to eat inside in the shade because of the strong sun. We started with the goat cheese salad and I highly recommend ordering it! The goat cheese and the bread which was under it were both hot which made them more delicious. Also the salad came with two cheese breaded sticks and they were good as well. For main course we shared two fish dishes I believe both of them were sea bass (the menu is in french and owner son was very helpful translating the dishes for us). They were both good but the one that came with vegetables was the better choice due to the sauce it came with. The sauce gave the fish a bit of depth in terms of taste. Overall would highly recommend this place for seafood if you are in Le Havre.
