The food was very ordinary, the pizza was ok, the salad was good..., but asked to add the chicken in it.... And it was huge mistake, chicken was dry, prepared long time ago and they kept reheating it.

Sometimes I look at the conglomerate reviews for a place and I question why they're generally low. I try to keep an open mind about a restaurant's purpose, size, cuisine, location etc. to establish a reasonable expectation of service, food and decor. So I felt that for it's purpose, being an Italian restaurant, in the heart of Munich, during Oktoberfest, L'Osteria was hitting! I saw a line when we first got there which made me nervous because we didn't have any reservations. So I quickly made an online reservation on the spot. It didn't end up being needed because the host sat us where we preferred, at a table just inside the establishment but close enough to the outdoor seating to get a little bit of both worlds. We had a nice view of the Famtain [Hotel] building as well as Karlsplatz Square. So it seemed that a 10 min.+ wait was worth it. We immediately got drinks, specifically the Passionfruit Aperal Spritz which was so good. It's the perfect drink after a long day of walking in the heat. We also ordered a pizza, split with Spicy Pepperoni and Chicken Bacon Ranch. I wonder if we were type-cast as Americans when the Chicken Bacon Ranch part was suggested to us. Don't tell them that I told you it was good! We also had the most delicately sliced Carpaccio with just the right amount of parmesan on top. I loved all of it! So listen, for the bad reviews, I don't know what happened. I think the place is solid. You might have to wait a few minutes to be seated but the turnover should be quick enough for you to get a nice spot. If you're visiting the city it's in a nice central location. Keep your expectations reasonable and you should have a great time!

I came here for a late lunch. Although service was quite slow (I was seated for 20+ minutes before ordering) it was a quite nice dining experience. There are umbrellas for outdoor seating, and the interior is gorgeous. I got the spaghetti carbonara, which was pretty cheap and high quality. I felt satiated afterwards but not overly full.

Yes. This was one of our favorite restraints on our trip. Not only was the service great, the food itself was so fresh and delicious. We had the Quattro formaggi pizza, pesto pasta, bruschetta, and tiramisu and everything was so good! It's a cute spot for a date night or for a quiet evening out. They also do split the pizzas in half to allow for sharing.

Delicious and fun ambiance! Get there early and the wait can be long but worth the wait! Nice staff and friendly service!

We just had drinks here. Beautiful inside and outside. Very large, covered outdoor seating area. The inside is French Baroque architecture, done beautifully. The menu is pizza, pasta, and salads (including antipasti). They had a large crowd on a Saturday afternoon, so I'll assume their food is good. Just experiencing the decor was very pleasant.

BBQ Chechen pizza, litro of red wine, mineral wasser and spaghetti Bolognese. So good. Recommended to come here. Able to get in at 6pm. Make reservations if you plan on eating later than 5/6pm. Loving our honeymoon. The food in this county does not disappoint.

Pizzas are huge!!! But it is thin crust so you could eat more... However they do let you do half the pizza one way and the other half another. So... You can share or just try different kinds of pizza!! I ended up sharing. The menu has a lot of different choices. I chose the veggie pizza with roasted veggies on it. Best choice? Probably not. Veggies were sparse at best. And the variety was something to be desired. The presentation also wasn't the best. It looked like the chef just threw it on with no regard that the veggies were all clumped to one side... Not impressed. The taste was alright. Its thin crust so.... Wait staff here were on point. Very good. Nice decor in the place and very cozy. It seemed like there were a lot of dates going on all around... So must be a good date spot!! Coming back? Maybe, but I might want to explore other places first...

Went here while on a group vacation for Oktoberfest. Took about 30min to be seated but we were a group of 12 for dinner and it was a busy night. But because of the long wait, the host gave us each a glass of sparkling wine, automatic bonus points. We sat inside, but if it was warmer it would of been great to sit outside, the view of the surrounding buildings is gorgeous! Once we sat down the waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and extremely filling. I had the Gnocchi w/ prawn, and although it was delicious my friends tortellini w/ ham was delicious in every part. The pizzas were big & delicious, the white pizza with red onions & some kind of pig on it, lol, was especially delicious. And the chocolate sufle was worth the over eating . Coming from NYC we were extremely surprised that for 12 people (and mostly big hungry guys) and for all we are, the bill was only 192 euros. Love this place! Next time I'm in Munich, I'll have to drop by for dinner.

This was a delightful place for a meal and not a five minute walk from my hotel. We came here because the person behind the counter [at the hotel] told us we should try it here but be prepared to wait a bit as they do get busy in the evening. Like she said, The restaurant was busy and we did not have have reservations. The very nice gentleman who was greeting the incoming guests just smiled and asked us to wait patiently for a few minutes... Not ten minutes later, we were able to get a table. Helene (my wife) and I are pretty much creatures of habit, We usually eat light in the evenings while traveling and we are both in love with European pizza... It's always so fresh and tasty. So, we ordered the pizza and an order of mozzarella and tomatoes. Everything was wonderful. This was one large pizza (and we managed to finish it). So Perfect, everything was fresh, hot (or cold when it needed to be) and tasty! When we returned to the hotel, we thanked the team member behind the counter and told her that We truly enjoyed our meal and had a lovely time. KUDOs to the team at L'Osteria. read more
Nice space near downtiwn Munich. Busy restaurant but service was good. This is what I would call standard Italian food in Germany. Nothing extrodinary or unqiue, just standard fare. Pasta was ok with a good sized portiin of cheese. Lasagna was piping hot but nothing fancy or unique. Pizzas here are popular, big but thin crust and minimal toppings. read more

The restaurant was busy during lunch time and we did not have have reservations. We were able to get a table quickly with out reservations for 4 people. The vibe is very lively with lots of people talking, laughing and being close to each other. We ordered the pizza and we loved that we could order it with different topping on each half. They bring you your own half on an separate pan. The slices are huge so come with a big apetito. We were able to enjoy our meal and we all had a lovely time. read more

We had a great dinner here! Great service and well cooked pasta. Pizzas were very big and delicious. Good potion sizes and flavor!

Food is pretty good. I had a pasta carbonara and pizza is freshly made delicious but the service OMG takes you more than 30 min to place order waiters just ignore you there is lots of them walking back and forth i get it place is a bit busy but they need to have appropriate staff to service you. Now i have been waiting another 30 min to get the dessert i ordered with my food and hopefully my bill so I don't wait any longer. read more
I love pizza and Osteria is my favourite place to go for it. Although, my preferred restaurant is in the Künstlerhaus near Karlsplatz Stachus, on this occasion we were around the Uni (LMU) on Leopoldstrasse and decided to eat there. The pizza never disappoints! My favourite is the Salsiccia Piccante, and I more or less order this every time. But I must warn first time visitors that the pizza is very big, enough for two. Fortunately, if you are there as a couple you can order two different halves, and pay for the pricier pizza. However, it is rather comical when you are there as a regular, and see the waitress bring over two full sized pizzas for two customers. All customers receive bread and oil/balsamico to accompany the food, and we often order a salad to share as a side. The value for money factor is perfect! The Salsiccia Piccante is so thin and crispy, the sauce is spicy and the Salsiccia is very tasty. It is a very delicious pizza! The restaurant has a beautiful seating area outside, which is fantastic when the sun shines. However, be warned that you will probably need to reserve a table during peak times. The only critique from my latest visit was that the salad wasn't as good as previous visits; it seemed a little bland on this occasion. read more
Nothing special. A let down for sure. Slightly busy on a great Sunday night. Started with the Turkey Caesar Salad which was pretty good. Pizza rustica = awful. Flavor wise it was very bland and the tomato sauce was watery. As you cut your slices the cheese comes right off. More is less. The place is huge and tries to accommodate so many types of people and in doing so it fails. For not being very busy the service was mediocre at best with my waiter asking "so where are you from!?" as he brought the check far after I asked for it. Not much to like... read more

Great place for lunch, the pizza was huge and excellent, also the Insalata Fantasia was tasty. Portions were generous for the prices. Service was a bit slow/inattentive and they seemed like they were "in the weeds" during the busy part of lunch, but I am a New Yorker and am still trying to wrap my head around the European idea of "service". For all I know they brought their A-Game. The kitchen is open, which was cool to see, but the cooks were constantly yelling to the servers and banging the service bell madly when orders came up, which was every minute. Definitely muted the charm of this otherwise great spot. read more

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in Europe! The pizza, pasta, and salads were all incredible! The staff was very nice and spoke very good English, which was nice. The prices are fair and I highly recommend stopping in here for a meal if you're in Munich read more
A last minute dinner plans on a Saturday evening at 8pm, and we were queued for nearly 45 minutes out the door under a light rain to enter the premises of L'Osteria! As I was unaware of where we were headed to giving me no time to research the pizzeria, I was thinking this must be a promising establishment as it was a full house upon our arrival! Also, we were a party of seven, so that could have added to our queue time. Always visually pleased by interior, I was able to feel the vibe just within the doorways and I was already adapting to the loud trend from the young crowd. As L'Osteria is very famous for their pizza especially as they can be ordered half, mein Liebe wasn't protesting for nothing when I wanted pasta. He insisted on getting a whole pizza with two halves of different toppings, and he was not wrong on persuading me to order half a pizza: C A P R I C C I O S A : Front ham, fresh mushrooms, artichoke, olive, and cheese. It was very yummy, and I would not pass this up if one is to be indecisive! A R U G U L A : Mozzarella, arugula, Italian hard cheese, garlic. A perfect accommodation for diets and restrictions; it was one of our favourites especially with the abundance of rocket salad on top. I am so glad they are partnered with Foodora or Deliveroo as a night in for two wouldn't be nearly as complete without a delivered pizza to cherish x read more
A pleasant location to meet up with friends or to simply have a drink. The space is huge, both inside and out, so it was relatively easy for us (a group of 5) to get a table without too long of a wait (albeit on a Monday evening). The service was alright: had its good and bad moments but nothing unusual. The highlight is their brick oven pizzas. One pizza pie is huge (around 40 cm wide!) yet costs quite cheap (around 8.50 to 10.50 €). Lots of variety and one can mix, either order half a pie or order 2 halves in 1 pie. I chose the latter: 1/2 Vegetariana (mozzarella, garlic, and fresh veg) and 1/2 Salsiccia Picante (spicy salami, mozzarella, cherry tomatoes, and basil). The pizza was tasty, but it was doused in oil. Definitely not for the waist-conscious eaters. Luckily for me and for my friend, we were able to take our leftover pizzas home and enjoy them the next day. read more
Ordered the pizza parmigiana to share for three persons. We also had one insalata di manzo each. The pizza was delicious and perfect for sharing. The salads were big (normal size 9€) but could have had more meat. All in all a nice place for pizza/pasta at a good price! read more

We were nearing the end of our amazing German visit and to be honest, was getting a little tired of the standard German fare. I was really looking for general Italian, but all I found seemed so pricey. We ended up coming to L'Osteria and I am so glad! First, the location is just a quick stroll away from the Marianplatz. It is a beautiful restaurant. Very hip feeling and lively. They had a beautiful outside, but I am glad we got the experience inside. The tables are packed together so there isn't a lot of intimate space, but it was really not a problem at all. I went in thinking that I wanted pasta, but as soon as we opened the doors and saw the HUGE pizzas, we knew what we had to get. My boyfriend and I shared a pizza and got half 4 cheese and half spicy sausage. They are not kidding with the sausage; we had to buy water just to finish it- but it was so tasty! The crust is thin and we easily devoured our halves. I saw people eating their own - you probably could if you came in hungry enough and didn't have an appetizer. We also got wine (.5 liters was almost 3 large glasses - we each got our own), and a salad to split. We got the one with orange/mango sauce and beef. The beef tips were cooked wonderfully, though I wish there were more. I saw on some other reviews that they thought the service was rude. That was not my impression at all. They were swamped and probably a little understaffed. Plus the waiters had to navigate 2 or even 3 different languages. If you are looking for an American waiter that can stand and chat, and check back on you many, many times, then I can see how the quickness and seemingly inattention could put you off. Our waitress was friendly and came when we needed her and helped as best as she could with our pizza selection. If you want a change from German food, I would highly suggest. read more

Super packed and a great vibe on the Sunday before Christmas. Lots of happy festive people, including quite a few non-Germans enjoying a late dinner on a cold rainy evening. My wife and I ordered pizza and wine with a friendly server who handled my poor attempt to order in German. Unfortunately the pizza we ordered was not very good. Soggy crusts and lackluster toppings for both the Fungi pizza and Margharita pizza. Too bad as the room was nice. We would likely pass on a second visit. read more

I'm not sure about this place. When I came first time I realy loved it. Maybe because it was during the day, there weren't so many people and waiter had time for me. The other few times I had to wait very long for waiter and than for food. Anyway I must say that pizza is absolutely delicious and it's also realy huge so come hungry. The other food like pasta or salads are not on that high level, they're just fine. I'll propably come here back but only for pizza. read more

As a foreign couple traveling across Germany in the past week, we found many German people really nice and friendly towards foreigners. We spent our last day in Munich and chose to lunch in this place because other shops and restaurants nearby were closed on sunday. The waiters speak good English but tend to serve locals first and keep foreigners waiting. We and a pair of Spanish girls and another foreign couple were kept waiting for at least 20minutes to order. During this time, two groups of local people came in and ordered and food were immediately served. We d rather believe it is because they were so busy but it still hurt our feelings. read more

The service was as fabulous as the food. We went on a Friday night and there was a line out the door. We were told it was worth the wait and it was! The pizzas were thin crust but HUGE; don't expect to eat one alone! The pasta, salads and pizza were all very good. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Our server, Pia, was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. read more

As has been mentioned in other reviews, the pizza is excellent and is a really good value for both the size and the cost. Being from the US, I would probably like a little more in the quantity of toppings but then again the crust and sauces are great on their own. I stop here once a trip (5-6 times/year) and have never been disappointed. And now they have made it even better - they had pistachios at the bar last night. read more

Gruß Christian read more

Gerne wieder! read more

Toilettenbeschriftung nur in Italienisch ? read more

Guter Service sieht anders aus. read more

Wer das dolce Vita geniessen will, sollte sich anderweitig umschauen. read more
