I have this vacation ritual where I get my haircut in the initial city within a day or two of arrival. On a hot Tuesday, we stumbled upon this excellent barbershop and entered. A warm welcome. Excellent shampoo and haircut. Very meticulous with "machine" and scissors. $270 for shampoo and haircut. No propina as there was no way with the credit card. read more

Had an excellent service at the barbershop, my Barber Manne did a great job. I was in P.V for two week but wanted a fresh haircut for my birthday. I decided to cut my hair the day before my birthday because I was going to be moving hotels away from el malecón but Manne did just a great job that you've thought I got a haircut the day of. My very good friend owns a couple barbershops so I know what to look for. This barbershop checked every box. I walked in there a couple time and every person that was cutting hair looked like they knew what they were doing. Walked by this trendy looking barbershop and decided to take a chance. Haircut, beard trim, and hot towel straight razor shave. We happened to stumble upon this place as its located on the same street as the bars we frequent at night. ATMOSPHERE: Look for the traditional barber pole that fronts the modern shop. The inside was clean, bright and comfortable. They have four barber chairs and a spacious waiting area to boot. SERVICES: Haircuts, beard trimming & dying, nose hair trimming, up charge for "intricate" designs. BARBER: We walked in without any reservations and my spouse luckily got in with Andy. Because my spouse is part African-American, he always has the concern on whether or not he'll receive a person able to work with that type of hair. Regardless of a language barrier between the two, Andy did an excellent job. Non-traditional sign language goes far, trust me, LOL! On top of the great haircut and brow trim was the price. $11 USD. Come on now. You can't even get that price at a Supercuts!? TIP: There are two La Barberia locations, this one south of the river and another one north of it. Today was the 4th time going to this place. Coming from the US it was very difficult to find a barber or anyone that would do shaving with a straight edge razor like the olden days. This place was recommended to me 2 years by a friend. Even though I shave my own head I go there and get a haircut and a shave for 250 pesos. About $12.50 US . They are very professional, friendly, courteous as well as it being a very clean facility. Apparently I have to travel all the way to Mexico to get the best haircut I've ever had. Back home I'm a Sport Clips kind of guy because I never know what kind of haircut to ask for. The guys at this place were each working on a different and unique style of haircut and it was so much fun watching their artistry. I decided to go very short with my own haircut and let my barber take it from there. He did not disappoint me, and I got the full treatment with clippers, scissors, and a painstakingly careful trim with a straight razor. The place is very clean and I was offered a bottle of cold water. Prices are very reasonable. I'll stop here every time I visit Puerto Vallarta. read more

Looking in the mirror I realized I was over due for a haircut. Being out of town I checked Yelp and this place popped up close to my hotel, 5 full stars with several reviews? It looked like an easy decision. I showed up on Sunday around 1, when I got there 2 of the three chairs were open and I was seated in one ( the other chair soon filled but no one had to wait during my visit). The guy who cut my hair spoke English. So during my cut he translated for the others a bi and answered the phone. No big deal, he was friendly and I got a great cut. For my cut I just gave him a brief description but left most of it to him. He took his time and was very detail oriented. I am very pleased with the result. I just wish I lived closer....it would be my regular place. For just a haircut it was 180 pesos so about 10 bucks plus tip. read more

Excellent service here. The guys are pros and took care of my shaggy hair and even offered to do a beard trim. They take their time to make sure your cut is done right and to your liking. You can walk in or schedule a time. Great ambiance and prices are reasonable too. Hotel had originally referred me to a swanky salon that I didn't want any part of. Great job guys! The best place to get a straight-razor shave in PV. Ask for Orlando--he's a professional and is a younger fellow with a great future in barbering. Allow at least a half-hour for a shave. I almost went to sleep. I went 3 times in a month. The cost is Much less expensive than Barber and Booze. The shop is comfortable, clean, and friendly. And the location is great too. A few doors down towards the bay is a place you can get corn dogs. read more

And, it's only 250 pesos. I always tip 150 to 200 pesos and it's still cheaper and better than anything I can get in the states. read more
