A nice studio with friendly instructors, lots of classes at convenient times. I'm still scared of Tanya's energy, but it's me, not her :D

As someone who's gone to this gym from time to time, there are a few pros & cons that I will list…read moreout in detail to help you better understand as to whether or not this gym is for you! Pros: The gym has a LARGE amount of amenities. There are two basketball courts (which are also used for pickleball), an indoor lap pool with hot tubs, an outdoor swimming area with slides (at an extra charge). There are classes, a ton of different machines for both cardio and lifting, and a really clean and upscale atmosphere. People tend to mind their own business and the staff have on average been helpful, at least in my experience. There is also a kids "daycare" if that's what you call it. A lot of parents will use this so they can have time to work out and actually work. There's a little area right next to the cafe that has tables and outlets. I see a lot of people with MacBooks doing work. They probably work remotely. Who knows. Cons: The price point for this gym is definitely the highest of them all coming in at $220.00 a month per person. IF you are married or you can prove cohabitation, you can add an additional person on your account for around $100 a month. This gym definitely has a crowd that is very gymcentric. This isn't a bad thing. But some people who are looking for a more chill or less intimidating atmosphere may think twice. I was one of these people until I decided to just not care. But that's easier said than done. The gym can be exceptionally crowded at peak hours. So if you plan on going daily I'd do my very best to avoid late afternoons on weekdays and nights on weekends. I was hoping the bathroom situation would be a little better but, there seems to be 2 bathrooms for ladies and men of course (from what I've seen). And with the amount of people there sometimes, it can be a little bit hectic. The locker room is fine and the showers are just average. At the price point of $220.00 I was expecting some futuristic pod shower than also does your taxes but, we all can't have what we want. The outside swimming area is an additional monthly charge, by the way. Conclusion: So take it or leave it. The price point is HIGH, but there are a lot more amenities and options for machines than any other gym out there. Is that justified? I don't really know. So three stars. Until they have a robot that does my taxes, then it might go to 4.

Today, I decided to try out the Voorhees location mainly due to the indoor track. I am training for a race and I don't like to run on treadmills or in poor weather. The "indoor track" has 2 narrow lanes for jogging and walking, yet most of the members seemed oblivious to this and I was dodging people who were not aware of their surroundings for most of the run. The track circles their cardio equipment, therefore you're just passing people staring at you run. I quickly realized the indoor track was not what I was looking for. But, I already knew I wouldn't sign up for the gym even before seeing the indoor track due to a comment the member specialist said while giving me a tour. As he is pointing out the equipment, he says "here is the incline chest press, but women don't need to use this unless they are body building." I'm sorry, sir, but as a 60 something year old man who opted to take the elevator instead of the stairs due to physical issues... how the hell do YOU know what women need? Are you a woman? Are you a trainer? Are you ME? No... that comment was unnecessary and I won't be back. Two stars because they do have top of the line equipment, as well as good amenities (sauna, pool). It was crowded, but it was also a Sunday.

I've been coming to this specific location consistently (3 - 4 times a week) for the last year and…read morea half, so I know it pretty well. I've never been to another planet fitness, and this is the first gym I've belonged to in over twenty years, so I can't really compare it to anywhere else. As another reviewer said, it's fine. It's a no frills kind of place, but it is spacious, clean, brightly lit, big variety in equipment, and has friendly staff. You won't find personal trainers, saunas, pools, or a smoothie bar, but it is still a great place to work out. The planet fitness model is to accept everyone. Phrases like "You belong!" are prominent on the walls. So there is a wide variety of ages and body types working out here. This particular planet fitness is in a great location, right in the heart of Westmont. It never gets obnoxiously crowded, and there is ample street parking as well as a lot on the side and out back. I've never had an issue finding a parking space, even when I go during peak hours. What brings it down to 4 stars is that there is almost always something broken or otherwise wrong when I'm there. I'm usually there when it opens at 5am on weekdays. One time the employee just didn't show up to open. Once there was no toilet paper in the men's room. Once every disinfectant spray bottle in the entire gym was empty, almost like the people who closed the night before were playing a prank on the opening staff. There is always something broken, which often takes a long time to be fixed. Sometimes it's one tv, sometimes the whole row, sometimes it's one stair master, once it was all of them. Recently, every shower in the men's locker room was out of order, then they were fixed, and a week later they were all broken again. These are minor annoyances, though, and like I said overall it is a good gym to work out in.

She keeps my workouts fun and interesting. I would give her six stars. Why should you come here? Because it's cheaper than seeing a psychiatrist. Haha. No really, I feel so much better after a session! All the stress of the work day melts away and I get some "me" time. I will tell you that over time I can see the way my body has changed: more defined shoulders, higher/firmer butt and leaner legs. Their location on Ellis is closer to work, so I can walk there, which is good, because the parking lot is small. The huge plate glass window in the front sometimes feels like a fishbowl. Still feels a little claustrophobic when multiple trainers are there with their students, like "don't go too far back," so I'm sticking with 4 stars.

Besides the price, the gym equipment is abundant and, it's rarely ever populated to a degree that would be considered "packed". I've gone at 4am, 11am and 9pm and at all 3 times I was able to get access to the equipment I needed for my planned workout. Another great thing is, although it's only 4 lanes and I imagine it will be quite busy in the summer, the pool is really nice going as deep as 10ft if I'm not mistaken. Lastly, being 24 hours is just down right CLUTCH! Being a realtor, I don't have a steady schedule so it's nice to have a gym that works around that. AND THEY GOT CHILDCARE options for certain times. No excuses, only results. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because at my old gym the employees were more involved in enforcing gym etiquette among people and some individuals just don't know how to put weights back or not play music out loud you know? My only drawback is the people not the place so if you don't care about the, definitely check it out

First - barre was new to me and so I certainly wasn't use to this type of activity. For me, this was one intense workout that made me drip sweat like a land beast. I was sore after every class and really felt it in every muscle not just thighs or arms. Second - they have a lot of classes. You need early? They have early. You want late? They have that too. There is a class that will fit into your schedule and that's handy for someone like me whose work schedule isn't the same every day. Third - It's convenient and it's an attractive space in which to work out. Why does this matter? I don't know that it does, but so many people who write reviews always comment on the space if it's old, outdated, crusty, raggedy, etc. This place is new, modern, clean & cute. It's easy to get to, I never once had an issue with parking & there is a coffee shop literally 3 doors down for your post workout caffeine fix. Ok, so all that & only four stars? Well, it's small and the five classes I attended were all packed. I always felt like I was on top of someone or that I might kick someone if I didn't pay close attention. They don't have a changing room, I didn't know that for my first class & showed up in my work clothes & a gym bag. Their only restroom is inside the studio so you'll need to wait until class is over to go in there & change. That first time there was a queue of people who just finished working out waiting to use it and then me waiting like a dope to go change. I changed at work after that initial class. As a workout it is probably five stars, but as a whole, I never really felt fully comfortable there. I always felt like I was doing it wrong but seldom if ever got corrected. I always felt too clumsy, too sweaty, too frumpy, too fat, too much - but that's my own hang up not theirs. It's a great work out and fit in nicely between kickboxing & the gym. If you're going to give it a try, do yourself two favors - first, spend the $16 and buy the barre socks right away. Second, try to take at least one class with Marla - she was so encouraging and motivating, I wish she taught there more often but no matter who leads, you're going to get a great workout.
